Cafe de la Maison du Peuple feels like every other Cafe we been at home. Coffee, Sandwich, Salad, patrons busy on their laptops..... my Yelp friend was yawning and ended up getting Cafe + Viennoiserie (3 EUR) as his breakfast and of course I needed my beer fix. Grisette Fruits des bois (2.50 EUR) was light and fruity, perfect for drinking during lunch time. There is no table service, so you do need to go to the bar area to order and pay, then the food will be delivered to your table. The vibe here at Cafe de la Maison du Peuple is laid back and youthful. I can stay here drink beers and yelp away the whole day just like the locals!

Tuesday nights at Madame Moustache is Lindy Hop night, perhaps the truest form of swing dancing(youtube it). I don't speak French, but dance and jazz music is universal...and plus all the ladies I approached for a dance spoke English well enough, and fortunately none rejected my offer. The DJ played all the best jazz songs from the 20s-60s. The hardwood dance floor is smooth and spacious, so its never too crowded. The friendly bartender served cheap draft beers and moderately priced cocktails. The ambiance is charmingly vintage but casual at the same time. No cover charge... I love it! Wednesday night is college hip hop night...this is a bit weird for a 40 year old, but being American I went along with it. Plus there was no cover charge. Madame Moustache was the only place poppin on a quiet night with a crowd of people outside the door so I decided to check it out. My goodness... what I walked into were great vibes, dance JAMS, a friendly crowd, and everyone just really enjoying themselves. Marj C. was right when she wrote this bar was a mix of "vaudeville meets rogue pirate hangout." It was awesome in every sense of that description. On top of that, the number of different types of beers and shots available was astounding and cheap! Beer on tap was 2€. "Fancy" Trappistes Rochefort beers were 4€, and they mixed countless shots-- including SPECULOOS SHOTS! SO GOOD! **BONUS: The next day I found out that Inspectah Deck, (yes... from the Wu-Tang Clan), did a show there minutes before I walked in. So random. SO FUN!

Well that was wild! Had a great night at Fuse for La Demence recently…read more 3 different floors of music. Bottom floor is height ceilings and spacious with a pit and dj booth. Second floor is up a set of stairs, a little smaller but with a couple elevated areas to dance on. 3rd floor is up a narrower set up stairs with a small dance floor and a bar. There is also a little dark labyrinth on the 3rd and 4th floors. Overall a massive space with lots of books and crannies to lose yourself in! There are 2 € lockers to put your stuff in - but get there early to get a locker, and to avoid the line. The entire club was certainly not elegant and overly clean, but it was a perfect for a quintessential rave experience!

The music is always a great mix to make everybody dance : latin music mainly, but often a bit of 80ies too, commercial mixes (yeah all the stuff you like on the radio and that makes you want to move your ass), sometimes a bit of African music (Nigeria for example)... Overall just a great mix, never too long with one same style... I have never seen anyone stand still for more than 15 minutes there. They also always add a bit of animation, with the waiter lighting up the bar with shooter and fire etc... Sometimes a photographer is going around too and you can find your pics on FB afterwards. A fun night out, for sure!

Terrible experience while paying for bottle service--not once, but twice. Unapologetically racist…read more The first time, a group of us had already arrived at the club and were seated for bottle service and the rest of our group (who happend to be African American and Asian) were denied entry to the club because they were not "appropriately attired." They were dressed the same as those of us who were already inside, and they watched many people enter the club in sneakers and jeans (much less appropriate attire than what they were wearing). The most recent experience was when a group of friends arranged (again) for bottle service and one was asked to leave the club. He was the only one in the group who was African American, and was told that he had been dancing near someone who had been a troublemaker. This racist attitude is not what I would expect from a club that touts itself to be "exclusive," but I will be certain to tell friends, colleagues and visitors to stay away. There are many other lovely establishments in Brussels that will get my business instead.
