This is our first visit to Bologna and we liked that the menu had a number of vegetarian items. The air conditioning was a nice added bonus. Unfortunately the food was a bit disappointing. It is all a bit gimmicky with everything served as "polpette" or "balls", and our appetizer was panzanella- which were very dry and largely bread balls. My daughters tried the cheese polpette in tomato soup. This was literally just goat cheese rolled into balls, in a few tablespoons of ground tomato. The eggplant polpette were more successful and served with a yogurt dip. The cod polpette were kind of soggy and were ground up with a lot of raw onion- not our fave. The best thing was probably an enormous fresh salad full of different crispy greens. The white wine was delicious: we had a couple of glasses of the local sparkling white called pignoletto.
This restaurant became very busy at about 9:30pm, and is clearly very popular among the locals: perhaps meat eaters would do better. For example, we noticed that the cold cuts were frequently ordered. I don't think we would go back. read more
