While visiting Michigan, we wanted to take the opportunity to hop over to Canada and try something unique. While trekking is offered many places in the states, I took the opportunity to visit Boler Mountain. The part offers biking, an adventure park, volleyball and many other activities. During the winter, they offer things like skiing. We purchased tickets for the treetop adventure for beginners concluded with the big zip. The Big Zip is an 1100 foot zip line that takes you to the bottom of the mountain and was included in the ticket. Being that this was our first time trekking, we had no clue what to expect , but Madison was extremely helpful with showing us how to utilize our equipment during the demo and we had an amazing time! I would definitely recommend doing the beginners if this is your first time, but if you find that you like it, you should upgrade to the intermediate. I would recommend to wear comfortable tennis shoes as it can be a little bit slippery if your shoes are not sturdy. They also have The Patio where people can order drinks/food and is open in the evening. Special thanks to the entire staff as they were extremely helpful to me and my boyfriend. Cole was very knowledgeable about London and surrounding areas and gave us tons of history and recommendation for the city. Everything was clean here and we didn't encounter any issues. When we arrived to the beginners area, we did not see anyone but it's because the staff was helping someone who was stuck on the zip line. We just went ahead and began the course but usually there is someone there to help you. Luckily, we got through the entire course without an issue. My daughters took their first ski lesson at Boler Mountain. It's a great ski hill for beginners. The chalet is also pretty new and it's not super busy, unlike ski hills closer to Toronto. The instructor was very hands-on and by the end of the lesson, they were skiing down the bunny hill without any problem. We enjoyed our day at Boler Mountain and had a great experience. read more

We had a truly wonderful time celebrating my mother's life. The staff at Boler Mountain were exceptional, professional, attentive, and incredibly thoughtful. The venue itself was perfect. The room offered beautiful views that created the peaceful and serene atmosphere we were hoping for. Our entire family was thrilled with how everything turned out. The food was outstanding, and special care was taken to accommodate all dietary needs and allergies, which meant a great deal to us. They went above and beyond in every way. I can't say enough about Kim, her professionalism, warmth, and outstanding communication made the entire process smooth and stress-free. She truly made us feel supported from start to finish. A little pricey but a great (and pretty much only) place to ski around London. Staff is very nice. Place is kept clean. Food is ok but a little high priced. Slopes are varied and fun. Can sometimes take forever to get to the top. read more

They hire employees that repeatedly harass teenage girls, myself included. When I reported the situation to the manager they defended him by saying he wasn't on duty/shift, while he was wearing a Boler jacket. This company needs to reevaluate their employees as I am sure I'm not the only female getting harassed by their teenage workers. read more

BEWARE OF THE SKI/SNOWBOARD SWAP Went to the ski/snowboard swap this year. I was in the last time slot so expectedly it was picked over. But I found one board that seemed to be ok. But they were hiding it had a crack in it, the whole width of the board. The board had no sticker or warning it was cracked and they hid it by placing the sticker on the bottom of the board so it was upside down and you couldn't see it. One of the other customers told me that he found it had a crack in it and that no one told him. I went and told a staff member who had been watching me look at the board and he said "ya I know it's cracked." He told me they were selling it for only the bindings yet he only told me after I found the crack. He knew and wasn't telling me to sell another board. Also, the bindings were in terrible condition and about 20 years old and not worth anything. Their website says "Our certified technicians will inspect the equipment to make sure it is current and safe." Yet they sell broken snowboards that aren't safe. The rest of the stuff was brand new and was pretty expensive one of the snowboarding boots were being sold for 300 yet I can buy them new for 225 new after tax at other stores. Will most likely be better if you get an early time slot. Disappointing. read more

Fireworks! , Torch run, cider....family , valentine's lovers What an amazing time had by all at bolar ski hill this past evening, hundred of people all enjoying everything just really made me stop and slow down rather then the crazy rat race we call life. Normally displays of fireworks of this magnitude are associated with Victoria Park on Canada or in Port Stanley however the idea Bolar mountain and staff put together yesturday and with that combined with skiing for the day just made a fantastic time even grander! Those that don't know, yes London has a ski hill and it's located in Byron a smaller sub community (which I can say is very good for small restaurants) just off London bordering spring bank park. Bolar has been in the community for as long as I can remember and some where along the years I kinda forgot about it. Yesterday I didnt even strap on skis or as snowboard I simply watched people enjoying the festivities and family fun times , also appeared to be an abundance of valentine lovers on the slopes as well which I'm sure made for their special times. Bolar is an exciting place actually and even has chair lifts and bunny hills for small children, ski/boarding lesson daily, restaurant or canteen. Many runs to try out for the younger family members but even for adults as well. As for me I've lived in Jasper, Alberta and this doesn't compare to mountain skiing however it's so much more then that as for half the price and travel one can be shredding the sloops and having a hot chocolate with there kids in as a little as 30 mind from the front door of their own home in london. Ah well I carried on about this establisbment more then maybe I should have but where else do you find fireworks and this family fun mid February in London, Ontario?... Staff in the signing up part of the resort often have personalities not worth the struggle. Safety is important to them, but completely hinders most aspects of extreme sports. There has been two times I've gone when the weather was reasonable but had to cancel my plans, even though they wouldn't let us ride they where forcing payments on us, if you are under 18 the hassle isn't worth it in the slightest. Staff member I dealt with both times does not care about her job and was extremely un-enthusiastic. read more

This past winter I had my kids signed up for private ski lessons. We paid about $1000 for the season (8 lessons) without rental. Although I love the look of the new chalet, I wish they had invested a bit more money in staffing. Until a couple of days before the first lesson I never heard back from them after I had signed them up about 2 months prior. I then called them to confirm the lessons and the schedule. They couldn't guarantee the same instructor for each lesson, so we ended up with a different one every time. Unfortunately that resulted in re-evaluating their skill level every time (and taking away from their 50 min lesson) as well as differently skilled instructors. A couple of them were really good with kids and immediately knew how to engage and motivate them, but the majority was not like that. One instructor even ended the lesson before the 50 minutes were over because my daughter didn't follow her instructions properly and she thought she may have been tired. Kids may have bad and good days, yes, but unfortunately I'm not getting a rain check for bad days so I wasn't too happy with that. Overall, I didn't feel like instructors or personnel were properly trained. Some of the instructors were naturally good with kids, but others were awkward with them and it didn't make the kids feel comfortable. The personnel at the counter was neither very capable or friendly. It happened to me a couple of times that I was waiting in line and finally, when it was my turn, I got redirected to the other line because they were not able to help me out (claiming they couldn't get into the computer system). Then, after getting in the other line and it was finally my turn again, the same thing happened. It was quite frustrating, especially since they were just sitting/standing next to each other. I attended a banquet at Boler Mountain last night. The staff was tremendous, and my gluten-free diet was dealt with perfectly. The dinner was fantastic! Honestly the best turkey I've ever had...delicious and so moist and tender! read more
