Spur of the moment road trip pit stop, I stopped for the name. This will now be my stop point on this path every time. The staff was incredibly sweet and helpful. They rose to my challenge of a random hookah flavor and offered to change it for free if it wasn't perfect but it was great. The pull was just right, too, and long lasting. They offered me wings and fries when I asked if they had food. I have legit never had wings this good. Crisp skin but the meat fell off the bone and melted in my mouth. They were a bit too hot for me until the fries arrived to balance them out. Guys, the fries were crisp on the outside but buttery on the inside like cookies made on a stone plate. 10/10, will always recommend. I want to preface this with the fact that I did not try hookah. I needed a place to sit and study and focus, and ideally be able to order coffee or tea. They delivered! I'm super grateful they're open late too, because I really work so much better at night. Upon recommendation, I had their mint tea, which was very good! It also was very very sweet, so be prepared for it to not be ordinary mint tea. Their tiramisu was also delicious. *there were plenty of comfy chairs and seating *the wifi was strong enough to stream my lectures without any problems *my friends did order hookah, and they said it was really good and smooth. only downside is, they will tend to close early, before 2 AM if there aren't a ton of customers around 11 PM. Bohemian is located in a cool area, and the look and feel inside is pretty chill. After years of visiting hookah joints around the world (Paris, Turkey, Spain, Mexico, DC, Cali, others) I feel like I know a little something something about hookah and a typical hookah lounge. There's certain things I personally enjoy in my hookah lounge experience. I won't list them all but here's exactly what I do like about Bohemian Hookah Lounge: + It's a chill atmosphere where you don't feel rushed and can literally sit there for hours. Coals come about the usual pace and no up charge for extra ones. + The hookah itself is clean, very easy to smoke, and full of flavor. We went with the Obama mix (I miss that guy) and it was delicious. + They have drinks you can order beyond bottle water! I had some delicious mint tea but theres plenty of coffees and teas on the menu. + The WiFi seemed good, there were a lot of folks chilling on their laptops. There's plenty of comfortable seating, and the music! Jazzy tunes playing all night long. I felt like a real grown up! Pro tip: They have a rewards card! I believe it's buy 7 hookahs, get the 8th one free. In Cincinnati, I've only been to the hookah joints on campus so walking into this Bohemian, the difference is felt immediately. I used to go here a lot in college, and adored the vibe (especially the mint tea). I returned this past weekend for the first time under new ownership and had an awful experience. It was actually so bad, that this is the only time I have reviewed something. I went in with 3 people, and 1 of them didn't want to do hookah but did want tea. I ordered 1 hookah, and 3 teas for all of us, so it isn't like we were planning on occupying a couch with a big group and a small bill. The owner was extremely rude and told us one person in the group had to leave, or we had to order 2 hookahs. I will not be returning. Ever. read more

Came into town for a conference, needed a hookah fix(). This place came up with the best reviews. As someone who professionally does hookah, this was hands down the SMOOTHEST hookah I've ever had. I ended up coming back two nights in a row. It's very much a hookah CAFE and I loved the vibes and aesthetics. It's lowkey and kind of tucked away which meant it wasn't crazy crowded. The attendant was very attentive and I was pleased. Hookah was $20. They don't have food or liquor as of yet but the owner advised it was to come! I hope this information is beneficial: So first off, I know you think Hookah and have this very vivid picture in your mind: dragon smoke from your mouth as you sit lazily and feel just as cool as you appear surrounded by wonderful friends. Here's the caveat though. I bet you never extended that picture beyond the expanse of your circle of friends. Let me emphasize my next statement---this is THE place for peace. This is the place you can call a second home. I mean this from the bottom of my heart. The hookah is crafted in a way with care and consideration I haven't experienced before in my 25 years in this city. They have two choices: a great way to combine any flavors you want with one and then a premium kind that offers rich, thick-smoke concoctions like Obama (Yes... Obama--a Blackie special) and Pumpkin Pie! The freshly handmade teas are phenomenal---a fabulous mint tea to boot that is balanced, fresh and comforting. The chai here is rich and lavishly complex with freshly compound spices combined in with black tea. This is what Bohemian is for anyone who walks into the triple-window door that used to the Golden Lion in the heart of Ludlow (a village in Clifton that is as artistic as it is historic): Well first off, you'll notice how calm everyone is. Why? Well, first you'll be greeted by a wonderful delightful worker (it may be Tisha, MIranda or Lucy). All so very sweet and cordial in their own delightful ways. Also a regal, slender and somewhat mysterious character of a man will greet you when you visit here. He'll introduce you and make you feel welcome as if in his own home. This is a place for community and relaxation. The seating is plentiful and you'll be assisted even when the room seems crowded for your party of friends. The cafe is well ventilated, fresh, clean with comfortable couches and seating. My business there can be dynamic day to day. As a patron, I have found myself twiddling away on a smartphone, finishing up work begrudgingly (but still with some relief) in this temple of goodness. But the possibilities don't end there! I speak on this with sincerity. Here, I have made more partners in trade, friends to share stories with, and met people to ruminate on heated intellectualisms than any other spot in town. Internet cafe/hookah bar on ludlow in clifton - it was what I was looking for though I can see it being not the place for everyone. Its a nice place to meet buddies after work if you want to chat and its near some awesome restaurants and though I didn't carry food in they seem to be quite okay with it. You could have a nice evening grabbing some indian from Ambar and enjoying some hookah with free wifi which is right up my alley. However, if you are looking for a more upmarket hookah cafe/night club vibe this is certainly not the place I would come to. Will come back - I thought it was great read more

Just eh. Really nothing special. Tonight was my second time and it was just not a great experience. I've been to a lot of the hookah bars around and I just feel like this place doesn't properly clean their hookahs. Either that or something else is going wrong in the process. Small place and it's packed most nights, because it's a college hangout. Not a problem, but it just makes for an awkward experience when theres not a lot of privacy and tons of people just awkwardly looking at you due to the small space. They offer drinks, coffee, and tea to go with your experience. Also, the hookah bar is around a bunch of our restaurants if you're hungry. Hookah will run you around $15 a pop (more depending on what you pick) with a 3 person per hookah limit. read more

FAVORITE PLACE IN CINCINNATI EVER. So, I love it here. It's a dream. Blackie the owner is a magical unicorn that has created a space that is peaceful, joyful, cozy, dimly lit, and simply perfect. The tea is outstanding - the mint is my personal favorite. The hookah is phenomenal - ALWAYS. They keep the hookah hot and are so attentive. I'm not a huge hookah smoker at all, but an avid tea drinker. The book of questions, a French film, and an amazing friend/date makes this my favorite place ever. The crowd is diverse in every way possible (except I don't see children). I have had evenings where we end up chatting with strangers and those where I've been completely engrossed in my own conversation. It's all good either way. This is hands down the best hookah cafe within Cincinnati's city limits! It's cozy, but not crowded with versatile seating arrangements, books and games to keep you and your friends busy, local artists work on the walls and movies playing on the projector screen. The furniture is clean and free of burn marks, tears, holes, etc. that you typically find in other hookah places. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and does a good job keeping an eye on hookahs to bring fresh coals, etc. I prefer to smoke at home, because I have everything set up just how I like it, but they let you bring your own hose, bowl and lotus which is nice. I miss Blackie and have only been once since he moved, but the new owner seems to be keeping the same atmosphere going, which is nice. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is that I wish they carried more brands/flavors of shisha, such as Social Smoke, Fantasia and Fumari and there are several huge ceiling fans that always seem to be going full blast and completely ruin clouds and smoke rings. read more

I am very picky about my hookah. But you won't have any complaints about this place. Comfortable sofas, soft lights, very attentive staff- I got it all. I recommend you take their black mint tea- they authentically prepare with fresh peppermint leafs. Hookahs, I must notice, all come from Khalil Mamoon- great quality pieces for all who appreciate smoking in style. I also have to add that cafe owner Sam is personally attending tables and more than willing to help you to have a great time. Definitely will be coming back, and often. read more

There are some places where you are treated like sh*t and you never want to set foot again, Bohemian is one of them. I visited this place a few days back along with 3 more friends just to hang out. Only two of us were going to smoke and so we thought we would just take one hookah with two pipes. The other two were just going to have something to drink. We were told by our waitress in the harshest way possible that we will have to order two hookahs for the table since 4 of us were there. We told her that just two of us were going to smoke, but she wouldn't agree. So we ended up taking a hookah for each of us and it doesn't end there. The waitress was really harsh and mean when talking to us but was all smiles and really sweet to the people in the next table. All four of us sensed a hint of racism. There are quite a few ok reviews here, but I'm not surprised because those people are from a different race. I do also find a lot of bad reviews here from people of my race. So ends up that these guys are totally racist after all. I wonder how they're still surviving around the UC area, which IMO is the most mixed race part of town! I have been meaning to try Bohemian for a while now, and recently came here with a large group of friends on a Saturday night. The reviews all mention Blackie, and I thought to myself, how can all these people know this guy?! My first time there, and I know him now. It's a typical college crowd. Couches are in good shape, and don't appear to be turned to hell and back. While not quite my style, and not what I really like, the decor is eclectic, fitting of the locale. Saturday night was crowded, but I found room for myself and 8 friends. Hookah is minimum 1 per 3 people, so we ordered 3. Two paan and an Obama. Loved both flavors. Coals were replenished and ashed in a timely manner. Prices are reasonable for both hookah and food items. We were celebrating a birthday and got a complementary baklava with a candle to blow out brought to us by Blackie. read more

I used to be a regular at Bohemian for an year. Me and my roommate used to hangout there 3-4 times a week and we loved it. The owner of the store, Blackie was a really friendly person back then. I moved to a new apartment and couldn't visit the place for like 6 months. I was visiting Ludlow with my friends and we planned to go say hi to Blackie and hangout there. As soon as we enter, Blackie comes running to us and says some racist stuff like 'You Indians are stingy' , 'You guys need to get a hookah each if you want to stay here', 'This is what happens when you disappear for a year' etc. This was totally out of the blue and totally unnecessary. We left the place immediately as we weren't even offered a place to sit. We then went to Gypsy cafe where we had a great time. I will never be visiting Bohemian again. read more

My first time at Cincinnati and my friends took me to this place. First up I'll be the first to admit a good Hookah place . They do serve well made hookahs. The undue initial friendliness is a mask to hide lapses in service levels , any request for water or beverage has to almost be made in an apologetic manner. The profanity of the language is also intolerable , if it's amongst friends who understand well then it's decent but not at first. The prejudice against certain races is borderline racist. Apart from the hookah , which can be made ever so well at home , stay away if you want to have a good time. read more

I tend to go on binges of not coming here for a few months, but when I do, I'm reminded of why I love Bohemian so much. The atmosphere is very calming and comfortable. The staff is always helpful and I've never had to sit for more than five minutes before they bring out my hookah. Their prices are awesome, too! If it's your first time here, let me recommend a few things. First: time. If you want to relax and bring your laptop or read a book (or write a Yelp review like I'm doing right now), it's best to show up sometime before 8 o'clock. Because this place, while having a ton of couches and seating, fills up fairly quickly by 10 o'clock. Second: hookah flavors. My personal favorite is the Obama. It's really refreshing and light. I'd also recommend any of their mint-fruit combos, like watermelon or blueberry. Third: TRY THE TEAS. Any of them. And fourth: Blackie is the owner. He's a cool guy and has a lot of stories to tell. If you have a chance, and if he has a chance, talk to him! You'll be glad you did. (Since I include my boyfriend in all of my reviews, I'd like to add that this is where we had our first date. I came here with a group of 3 friends. My friend ordered a hookah for him and his friend. (Just the two of them). I had just gotten tea, which was excellent btw. We were having a good time until a fifth friend showed up. One of the waitresses came up to us and curtly stated that it is the restaurants policy that only 4 ppl could use the hookah at one time, and we would be required to order another hookah if we were to stay. We tried to discuss with the manager that not all of us were smoking, he told us that if some of us wanted to drink tea we would have to sit apart from our friends in another part of the restaurant. I love this place! Starting coming here a few years ago when a friend and I made an attempt to go to Gypsy and realized that place was no longer for us. Finally a hookah café with good ventilation, comfortable seating, cleanliness, friendliness, and convenience! This is an excellent and welcome addition to the Ludlow scene as a place to hang out and be social. The only downside is that there is no outdoor space available, but the indoors is very spacious and the layout make you feel like you're not right on top of another group that may be nearby. The prices are about the same as we've seen at other places and it's much easier to park nearby in Clifton than it is to find parking up on Calhoun. read more

This might be my favorite hangout in the whole city! It's super convient from almost anywhere, and close to many restaurants and shops. It's not even the hookah'ing that makes this place The Owner (Blackie) is the coolest man I know, he honestly takes the time to get to know you. The staff is amazingly hospitable, and knowledgeable! Large selection of hookah flavors at a reasonable price. They serve amazing teas, with a great selection of desserts. The atmosphere here is very chill, and relaxing. Music is spot on, furniture is comfy (and clean), and I love the random films. It's apparent they value community - Local art, business cards and involvement with Clifton events.
