I had a double espresso macchiato & a slice of maple buttermilk pie! My friend had a maple nut scone. The food was delicious. The scone was not dry and the hint of maple was just right. The maple buttermilk pie was to die for!! They have other food items on the menu, but we just needed a treat. The service was friendly and efficient. I especially appreciated the affordable prices. I mentioned this to the proprietor and he said they want prices affordable for locals, so they don't jack them up for tourists. That was a huge plus to me! The restaurant is rather small, but there are enough tables for seating and there was no rush for us to move along. This is a must stop in Chester!

The smoked salmon on sourdough bagel with cream cheese was surprisingly good. The egg, cheese, and bacon sandwich on sourdough bagel was probably my favorite, with a good balance of carb and protein. The bagels are evidently made local. They had some savory scones I didn't get to before leaving town (next time!). Nanka, the owner, was so very nice. She knew each customer by name, and was a delight to interact with. Other friends in town had avoided the place because of the cats, but when I explained that the cats are accessed through a different door, across the way, and not walking around on the prep counters, she too discovered how great the place is. There is a minimum spend to get free access to the cats, or a small fee if you just want to go love on kitties. The green iced tea was so good, I had it every morning, and since I liked the owner so much, I bought a few pay-it-forward drinks for people in need, which, I also learned, is matched by the cafe ownership. I even spent 1 day in Manchester at 2 different coffee shops and kept having connectivity issues with their wifi - needless to say that day's productivity was shot. Ham and Swiss cheese, salami, sauerkraut, banana peppers, and slices of tomato on an Italian bun. Fabio is fabulous. All the food items, including the specials seem fairly priced. A decent selection of national and local canned variety of beer. I opted for Super Nova IPA 6.8 % ABV from Middlebury VT. The owner/chef Jonny is friendly, quick with a smile. A great guitar and base player. Stop in the afternoon toward the end of the end to enjoy some blues and jazz. Don't forget to bring your favorite instrument to join in on the fun.
