Before she starts, she takes the time to ask about your specific trouble spots and problem areas so she can tailor the session entirely to what you need. Just a warning, though: DO NOT go see her if you are looking for a relaxing, gentle, spa-style massage, because that is simply NOT what she does. She means business. You will likely leave there feeling a bit sore afterward, but finally getting all of those painful knots worked out is an incredible feeling of relief.

If you have a low…read morepain tolerance like me, or honestly even if it's high, you'll probably be withering in pain but the good kind. I workout and historically I'm bad at stretching which leads to tight muscles. I also hold stress in my neck/shoulders and have lower back pain. Without me even having to state any of this, Ruby was able to tell this herself. She loosened up YEARS worth of tension and shared how certain parts of the body were connected to others and that's why I was experiencing pain/tightness in those areas. I was definitely sore for several days afterwards, but I also felt looser and lighter than I have before - even after other massages I've had at other places. Ruby is no nonsense and tells it like it is - and that's exactly what I need and what I was looking for. This is my second massage with Ruby, with my third one already booked and I convinced my sister to book one as well. Reservations: Marietta Massage does not take walk-ins. You have to call (not able to book online) to make an appointment. Parking: Marietta Massage has 2 dedicated parking spots (92, 93) in the paid lot right next to their building. It's free to park there during your appointment so don't pay at the meter!

At that location, I was given a form asking about problem areas, the therapist discussed what needed attention, and the massage felt customized to me. That was not my experience here. When I arrived, I was simply asked how long I wanted the massage to be, and I was charged immediately. After that, there was very little communication. I was shown to a clean but sparse room, and the massage began without any discussion of pressure, problem areas, or what I was hoping to get from the session. The massage itself was relaxing enough, but it felt very generic. Most of the time was spent on my back and legs, with no particular attention given to areas that actually needed it. I teach and train Brazilian jiu-jitsu, so my hands often hurt and could have used extra work, but since the therapist barely spoke to me, that never came up. My hands received only a few seconds of attention each. The room was clean, but there was no noticeable aromatherapy or anything else that made the experience feel especially calming. The music was also on a very short loop, which became distracting after hearing the same song repeatedly. I left feeling slightly more relaxed, but the experience did not feel personalized and was not comparable to other massages I've had at a similar price. It was not terrible, but it was disappointing and not something I would return for.

I stumbled across Healing Massage on Yelp. Despite only having 3 reviews i still decided to give a try however they dont have a legitimate website I was able to find to view prices so I called. On their Yelp page they have advertised "spring special for $59.99 pre-book only". When I called to book I was told 1 hour full body $80 and when I mentioned the advertised special on Yelp and thats how I found them, she says "ok i give you $10 off, for $70". Im like no your advertisement says $59.99. I cant trust a company that conducts business like this. It unprofessional with snake car salesman vibes. Im very serious when it comes to spa and the places I choose to spend my money. It's not just about the massage but the entire experience a establishment gives. I will NOT be trying out this place. Tired of businesses that dont stick by any principles and provide mediocre experience.

Although I like being massaged, I generally don't like massages. Contradiction, I know. I just find…read morethe thought of a stranger laying hands on my gelatinous torso disconcerting is all. Yes, it's their job and they've probably seen worse, but hey, it's my body and I'll cry if I want to. I also think I dislike massages because when I relax, I like to fart. Push down on my abdomen at your own risk, my friends. Massaging hands create external pressure leading to internal pressure and there's nary a release valve in sight. Oy. I don't find that too relaxing to be quite honest. I guess I could just let one rip, but then I'd have to tip at least 90% and I don't think I could afford that. Oh the winds of change, they are a-breakin'. However, once in a while my wife tires of massaging my shoulders and shouldering my farts and she buys me a gift certificate to her massage therapist, Christine Legnon. Despite my earlier protestations, I like my Christine massages. She has a supernatural sense of where to push, where to rub, how strong and how much. And I get by the farting part simply by falling asleep half the time. Yes, Christine's magical hands manage to keep even the crankiest of digestive tracks at bay. In fact, Allure Magazine agrees with me (with Christine being awesome, not my gassiness), blurbing Christine in a recent issue. (See the pic.) Christine will talk if you want, but since I'm not a talker during massages, she respects that. That's cool. I hate talkative masseuses. As if I don't have enough going on in my head, gassy and nearly naked on a stranger's table, I've got to come up with small talk? So if you're a massage therapist and happen to be reading this review, please keep the chit chat to a minimum. Just let the candles soothe and the Enya play on. Speaking of which, I've not actually had a massage at Christine's new place, but I have seen it. Pretty, cozy and Studioplexy. This is the only reason I'm reviewing Christine separately from Aviary Organic Beauty Collective. Now let's review what we've learned today. 1) Christine is a fantastic massage therapist. (And for you Mythbuster fans, I think she bears a striking resemblance to Kari B.) 2) Nothing is worse than a chatty massage therapist. 3) I'm gassier than the love child of John Madden and the Hindenburg. Five stars.

While the…read moreactual massage was good (I can't remember her name but was maybe the manager now owner) the overall atmosphere was very unprofessional. The good: She actually used the right amount of pressure when I said not too much. She worked my problem area well (shoulder blade area) including stretching. She gave good tips on stretching at home. She was nice and pleasant. The bad: she had a cordless phone with her and left the room during my massage to answer it. She did add time accordingly but who does that?? Next no-no, her little dog was there! She left the door cracked, I guess to listen for the dog, which came in and laid down for a little before leaving the room again. You don't know if someone has allergies or not, and it's not relaxing listening to a dog walking around with its tags clattering. At least he didn't bark or I probably would've left. Third thing, the walls seem kind of thin anyways but since the door was cracked I could hear someone else's phone convo. What couldn't they answer the phone?? While their prices are lower which reflects the overall atmosphere, which is kind of dingy and cluttered when you walk in, I don't plan to come back. And I'm fine with that type of atmosphere but the unprofessionalism can't be overlooked. Note- I had this service several months ago and planned to go back to give them another try before I did a review but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
