As a big man, it isn't always easy to find services that are appropriate to someone my size. Conversations with Jeremy assured me that he has experience with bigger folk and has the equipment to handle them.
I caught Jeremy at a time where he had multiple commitments on his time. Luckily, Jeremy was able to work me in. I'm eternally grateful for that.
His place is easy to find and well appointed. He tends towards the minimalist mindset, but that doesn't mean that his studio isn't comfortable. I was immediately comfortable and impressed by his work space. The music was soothing, but not too "spa-like." I appreciated the sound of running water and his vaporizer.
I started off with a foot bath, which is something I had never treated myself to before. I was hesitant, at first, but allowed myself to relax. The water temperature was adjusted to my liking. The texture of the brush used was nice, not too soft, not too stiff. Jeremy was very patient and explained each step of the process. During that time, we talked about what kinds of work I needed during my massage.
Jeremy's table is very sturdy, extra wide and plush. He uses fresh white linens and towels. I was treated to pillows and props to make me more comfortable. I was draped and he explained every step in the process to me, so that nothing was a surprise. There were constant checks for comfort and he would adjust pressure based on my responses. I do have a tender spot by my shoulder and he was extra careful in that area. I know that seems to be what should happen, but I've had other people just push real hard to work out perceived "knots."
Jeremy was respectful of space. If he needed to get close to the table or approach me from a different angle, he would tell me what was happening. For example, as he was working on my shoulders, he asked if he could get on the table, so that he could attack it from a different angle. Not everyone does that; some just jump on the table with you and you're left wondering what the heck is going on.
i don't mind talking during my massages. Jeremy was easy to converse with. He did, however, respect silence, too.
Jeremy's style is therapeutic. His strokes are slow and have varying amounts of pressure. He was able to loosen up my shoulders and hips. His website has listings for the various types of massage that he does. We didn't discuss modalities. Rather, Jeremy knew what I needed and made it happen. The oil he uses wasn't too greasy and I could detect no smell. His prices are more than reasonable and you'll get true value for your dollar.
As I left his place, I actually did a little dance in the parking lot because I could feel my stress was gone and my muscles weren't coiled up bundles.
This man is a true professional. He has become the standard by which I judge all others. If I lived closer to him, I would schedule regular massages.
update 9/26 I've been to Jeremy several times now. He gets better and better. He's going to change some of the services he offers. Be sure to ask, if you want a special type of massage (no, not dirty! I mean modality.) He'll be happy to accommodate. read more
