I've been seeing Joey for training for about a month now. I had a few friends that had been attending for months and had ranted and raved about the place. They invited me to check it out on numerous occasions but I opposed and made excuses: cost, no time, & I thought what I was doing (running, spin, combat classes, and soccer) was enough. Till the day came when I injured my knee. I couldn't run, I couldn't spin and I had to quit soccer. I was super sad, then lazy, and with a wedding around the corner with me as MoH I couldn't afford to sit around and do nothing. I even work at LA fitness and couldn't get motivated to do anything with fear of causing more damage to my knee. I had to do something. I met Joey and was instantly drawn in by his positive and motivating energy. One bad day later I called him up and made an appt to go in to burn off some bad energy. He worked with me and my bad knee. We talked about goals and such. He encouraged, and motivated me. I was hooked on O.P.T. We worked out a schedule and cost, smashing my excuses. That night after my first session with him, and his referral to a physical therapist, I signed up for the Pat Tillman run feeling confidant that with his help I could run pain free. Joey is so passionate about his work and his people. He puts a lot of time into his personal training sessions and is considerate of each persons need/wants/injuries. I love this place! I really can't see myself ever leaving. The people here feel like family. My O.P.T family. Let's gooooooo!!!

I hate writing one-star reviews, but the class I attended yesterday was really that bad…read more Now, the thing is, in T or C, there aren't many options for yoga, so beggars can't be choosers. On a Friday evening, my girlfriend and I came here for the 1 hour Yoga Blend class. The instructor explained to us at the beginning that the class will be 40 minutes of yoga and 20 minutes of restorative. Cool. Our instructor, Patty Kearny, was keen to get to know us and asked us both what types of yoga we have practised and what we would be interested in working on during the class. Cool. My girlfriend has been practising Bikram but did make clear to Patty that she hadn't practised yoga in awhile. I told Patty that I had been practising yoga for over 15 years and I have practised many forms of yoga including Vinyasa, Hatha, Bikram and Resorative to name a few. I am not sure what ensued, but all I can say is that the class was not enjoyable for me. And I'll outline below why this class wasn't that great for me: 1) When I was in the downward dog position, Patty asked me to look at the mirror so to see how my back was not straight. I have been taught by other yoga teachers that when in downward dog, it is best not to crane your neck or else you will get a neck injury. I refused to turn my head and I think this angered Patty. 2) Patty did not start us with any warm-up poses like sun salutations and immediately started instructing us to get into very difficult poses including warrior I, which then went into extended triangle and followed by reverse triangle. She kept asking me to make adjustments, however, I was not warmed up and my hamstrings were extremely tight, so again, I refused to follow her adjustments for fear of injuring muscles that wasn't warmed up. 3) Now by this time, my girlfriend was completely lost and I found that the instructor did not give clear instructions and did not instruct which foot or arm for poses. My friend was a good sport and just tried her best. 4) Halfway through the class, Patty states that she is getting the vibe that I am not enjoying the class and if I would like to do something else, she is welcome to suggestions. I did not say anything, but by this time, I just wanted to get the class over and leave the studio. And, I have never had an instructor say this to me in the 15 years I have practised yoga. 5) Patty tried to get us both into camel pose, however, this is also one of the more difficult poses and you really have to be warmed up to achieve this pose. Both of us has not worked up a sweat and it wasn't exactly the best pose for those that haven't practised in awhile. 6) Restorative portion of the class was basically the wheelbarrow pose and my girlfriend could not get into this pose as she has some right knee issues. Classes are $10, unless noted otherwise. Yoga mats, blocks, bolsters, straps, and blankets are all provided. Overall, this class was not relaxing and I did not find the instructor knowledgeable or willing to meet her students where they were. It was disappointing as I really wanted to like this class and had been excited all week to attend the class, only to be let down. I may give it another shot when I am back in T or C, but for now, I am going to put this one on the back burner.
