I've visited body ritual twice so far. Both those times, I went in to get my conch piercing looked at. During my first visit, I went in to get my jewelry put into my still healing conch piercing, the piercing lady did a good job and didn't charge me a penny, which was very nice of her considering I had never been there before. I went in again because one of my conch piercings mysteriously fell out and so I got to pick out new piercings for both my ears and have it inserted into my piercing. The piercing lady informed me that one of my piercings had gotten closed up and proceeded to use her bare hands and the hoop metal to push it's way into my closed piercing. I'm not sure if this is normal, but I came home to see my piercing bleeding quite a bit. read more

I came to Body Ritual to get a second lobe piercing. I've gotten plenty of piercings before with no issue but this was by far the worst piercing I've ever gotten. The piercer was slow and left the needle in my ear while he prepared the jewelry, which I have NEVER ever experienced before - when I've gotten pierced elsewhere it was a swift process. The whole process made me nauseous and the piercer wasn't friendly/didn't chat while he made me wait with the needle in my ear. Came in on a Sunday with a piercing emergency because I lost the ball for my piercing. I told them it was a 2g. They didn't have any balls for it but they did sell me barbell that was purported to be 2g. I bought it, inserted it in the piercing and it promptly fell out (even with the ball in - it was so small). In fact it fell out 3 more times in an evening because it was so miss-sized. And these were supposed to be the experts. They also don't refund jewelry, even if they sell you the wrong size. Learn from my $20 lesson. Stay away from here! read more

I've been to Body Ritual many of times over the years. They are my go-to trusted place to have any piercings done. I've had my tragus, daith, forward helix, and dermals done here over the years and all went very smoothly. I also purchase jewelry from Body Ritual often. I just popped in this time to buy a new nose stud, as I commonly lose mine! The store is well kept and it's evident that safety and cleanliness is of upmost concern. I will point out that the piercers I have dealt with, though they have done impeccable jobs on the piercing itself, are not very friendly. To be honest, it doesn't bother me much and I'm the kind of person who likes to kill someone with kindness until they crack a smile, but I can understand how, in general, customers would appreciate having someone piercing them also make the comfortable throughout the process. The hours listed are not accurate. People come in when they feel like coming in or not at all. The price is great if you want a piercing but you definitely get what you pay for. The piercers don't take their time and are less than professional. Some of my piercings done here were misplaced and had to be taken out due to the poor attention to detail. I went in after confirming with Scott that they could do a hidden helix piercing. I was with someone else who was getting a regular forward helix and had already filled out their paperwork. When I asked the man working about my piercing, he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about, even after I showed him photos. If he genuinely didn't know, fine, but after I said I'd pick a different piercing, he completely dismissed me and started helping another customer who had just walked in. After rudely telling them they didn't have the right ID, he went to the back room without acknowledging me at all. Thankfully, the apprentice came out, apologized for his rude behavior, and offered to help, even though she said she hadn't done a hidden helix before but was willing to try if I was okay with it. She was super kind but this isn't the first time I've dealt with rude service here. The last time I came, another piercer was equally dismissive and rude when I got a piercing done. I was treated the same way, with no regard for customer service. By that point, we decided to leave because we couldn't and wouldn't tolerate being treated with such disrespect and indifference again. There's no way I'd feel comfortable having that man pierce me after how he treated us. The staff is unapproachable, and I wouldn't waste my time here again. Trust the 1-star reviews... on my 17th birthday 2 weeks ago, I wanted to get my nose done, I called 4 hours beforehand and asked if I had to make an appointment and what I needed to bring. They told me they accept walk ins and to come on in. After driving around an hour we walked in and said they wouldn't have a piercer for another 2 hours. The store was clean yet empty and the piercer I had was rude and ignorant. When I was nervous he didn't seem to care or even attempt to calm me down. I got my tragus done here a year ago and it had never healed since. they pierced it and started me out with a stud which was their first mistake so my piercing swelled over the stud and i had to switch to a hoop through another piercer and quickly bumps started to form on both sides and won't go away. Went here to get my tongue pierced and was greeted with cold stares. Zero hospitality and I did not feel welcome at all. I'm super sensitive to nickel- a day or so after I got the piercing, I started to react to the metal ring they used. I called body ritual and asked what type of metal they used to pierce. "Titanium" they said. Hmmmm... I went to a different place to get the piercing changed out to a different material (after which all of my symptoms cleared up). When the lady who was changing out my rings took out the metal one, she told me that this was not titanium because titanium rings are inner-laced. The one that she took out of my tongue was outer-laced. So basically I was lied to and I won't be spending any more of my money at body ritual :( read more

Do not come here for a piercing. The piercers at Body Ritual are not APP certified (association of professional piercers). Go to safepiercing.org to find a certified piercer near you. I had my nose pierced at Body Ritual and it was not healing properly. I came in and called regarding my concerns and each person who I spoke to had something entirely different to say about how to treat me piercing. When I called in, one person I spoke to told me it was a keloid before I even described my situation... completely wrong. Fortunately, I looked up an APP certified piercer and had them look at the mess that Body Ritual called a piercing. The APP certified piercer informed me that the piercing was pierced at an improper angle and would not heal properly, potentially causing permanent scaring if not removed immediately. It was in fact not a keloid like the woman over the phone was so adamant it was. Overall, being new to having something pierced I was so excited at first but once I new something was wrong, Body Ritual was unable to provided me the assurance and proper advice regarding my piercing and they were overall unprofessional with my situation. read more

The place is clean, the availability was instant (I did a walk-in), and the pricing is highly competitive without compromising quality. My best friend is visiting from NY and has been wanting a tattoo for some time - he just hadn't felt comfortable with any of the artists he consulted. The guy who did our pieces (Marcos) was extremely personable, patient, and well-skilled. After showing him what we wanted he immediately put together a sketch and brought us up to get inked. There is a main lobby in the downstairs where they showcase tattoo samples and merchandise (earrings), but upstairs each artist has his/her own studio. I LOVE this because it was more intimate and offered privacy when my friend felt like he was going to faint (lol). Furthermore, I can tell Marcos maintains the cleanliness of his studio which shows me he's conscious of hygiene and health. I can't speak for how other artists maintain their space, but this made me feel comfortable. He also put a lot of effort into designing his room - a clear example of his artistic nature. I got my daughter's ears pierced here tonight and we had a truly wonderful experience. I called ahead and was told to make sure to bring her birth certificate and my ID, so we were prepared. The piercer was a very kind, friendly, matter-of-fact young woman who was clearly very experienced. Poor business practice. A few mths back I purchased a rook piercing. I paid for the jewelry and the service. Mths later and it's still very sore and I wanted it removed. I return to the location to have it removed and I was greeted with rude customer service and was told it would be an additional $15 to have it taken out. I have a number of piercings/tattoos and have never heard of a shop charging to take the jewelry out. They're usually very accommodating and understanding. Would not recommend this shop. They're unprofessional, dismissive of their customer concerns, and are not able to provide quality service. read more

I had my navel piercing done here. It's pretty expensive ($45?) and I was not too impressed for two reasons. The piercer assured me that it's not hard to heal but gave me wrong information. She said it's ok to use saline contact solution to clean the piercing, which contradicts what's stated in the aftercare paperwork. She also said my belly button shape is very easy to pierce, but then my piercing looks a little off the center.. it's still healing now and I haven't had much issues with it.. it's great that the piercer makes you feel comfortable with less information sometimes, but inaccurate information might not be a good idea.. considering going to a different place when I get my next piercing. read more

I had a good experience with ear re-piercing here over the summer, so, when I needed it done again, I came back. I arrived on time for my appointment and was told there was one person ahead of me and asked to fill out the paperwork and prepay. Then I waited...and waited...and waited as people came and went and the staff chatted with each other. No one said "Sorry for the wait" or "We're running behind today." After 40 full minutes I asked for my money back, 30 percent tip and all. The man behind the counter said "OK." The word "Sorry" was never spoken.
