When I went to pay, I spent about 2 minutes standing at the cash register before either employee came over to help me with my transaction. Furthermore, this was on their sale day. I was told the first 50 people would get a swag bag with $50+ purchase. By the time I got there I don't think 50 people had been through the store, in fact, it was dead in there. I spent well over $50 and got nothing, when the girl before me only bought a deodorant and got a t-shirt. I would suggest prioritizing customer service and treating repeat customers with a higher level of service.

At the Lonsdale shop, one orders and receives a delightful smoothie of one's choosing, then walks up to the till at the front of the store to pay. Another wee difference is that this store has no seating. To compare the two shops a bit further, I found the North Van location to be a bit more laidback than the Victoria's on Hornby. I'd imagine that the Hornby shop also sees a ton more foot traffic and that, too, could make for a less relaxed atmosphere. I came for the smoothies, but for the vitamin/supplement head, this store would seem to have all you need. (If not, then there's a competing health food store just down the road & across the street.) There is something about health food stores. I love going in an just browsing…read more It amazes me what can be used to help illnesses from the common cold to more serious diseases. For someone like myself who practically refuses to go to the doctor, it's important to me that health food stores have staff who are highly knowledgeable about the products and have some naturopathic background. Often I walk into these places and it's just a random person working behind the counter who suggest things to you, because they use it and, i'm certain, don't even know why they use it. Or, I get the pushy type that suggest 7 different things I've never heard of and convince me that there is something more wrong with me than I originally thought. Once I went in for some Vitamin C and Oil of Oregano for strep throat, and I left with almost 100 bucks worth of stuff . Most of which I couldn't pronounce and had absolutely nothing to do with current cold. Luckily I now have Nutraways. They offer sound advice and recommend items only when asked. They aren't pushy and their prices are pretty decent. They also have grocery items such as beauty products, canned vegetables, cereal, grains, local honey etc. I like picking up things like barley groats, cane sugar, kefir mix and even cough drops from here. All of these items are impossible to find anywhere else. Nutraways is a must for anyone who needs some advice on both daily supplements and treatment for more life affecting ailments. Side note: They have the best Moody Bee Honey Vanilla Peppermint lip balm. It's a must have.
