They carry a wide range of both mens and ladies fragrances as well as body lotions and gift sets. The ladies at this shop are extremely helpful and often have tiny samples available, especially for new perfumes. Prices are often cheaper than the larger stores, so it is worth calling by and comparing the offers.

The Thursday market in town varies from week to week according to who's there. There are…read moreconsitently 2 good fruit and veg stalls, 2 fishmongers, a nurseryman/florist, a pet shop, shoes, bedding, and an excellent hot veggie food van. There is of course the cake stall, where they do superb Christmas cakes, the guy who sells olives in all their varieties, feta, and sun dried tomatoes and recently a Lancashire cheese stall which comes from the dairy where they are made 'Mrs Kirkhams'. Another new stall is from the Cowran Estate in nearby Pennington, selling their meat products, and duck eggs! Craig Crosby has just opened a cosmetics stall this week. I'll add more updates as they happen. I love the market because every so often you get a great surprise bargain, and you always bump into someone interesting to talk to.

Most of the popular brands are stocked and the prices are often cheaper than the main 'High St' chemists. It is often worth comparing the prices before buying as savings can be made. The perfumes are all behind the tills and if the shop is busy, it be awkward to ask to sample a perfume, but if you know what you want then it can be several pounds cheaper. Well worth checking out.

Bodycare is a store selling a reasonable range of products, mainly well-known brands but also some…read moremore obscure and cheaper ones. They have pretty competitive prices - some of the prices are only a little cheaper than the main stores like Boots but every little helps. I prefer their other brands though - they sometimes stock really interesting and premium brands like Urban Decay which aren't as well known in the UK and are obviously packaged for the US market, so you can get some really unusual and good quality products for very little. I've even found some premium organic, natural brands here. They do change frequently though so if you find something you like, it's probably best to stock up on it quickly as you won't have a guaranteed supply. The Blackpool branch is very central.

I went on a photo shoot a couple of weeks after having my hair coloured here and the photographers adored my hair. The colourists are excellent, I've been having my hair professionally coloured for 12years and it has never been as long-lasting, vibrant and healthy looking as now. The cut is superb, creative but not bonkers. These guys actually cut my past shoulder length hair into a short bob, and even hubby (a lover of long hair and bob nay-sayer) loves it and doesn't want me to grow it back 'nuff said? The decor is rather lovely, it's a period building with period features here and there to keep your eye occupied whilst having your hair washed, and the coffees tasty. Not cheap, but it is very good.

I did notice much fewer products available to sample, with a "Try Me" sticker, than I'm used to finding at other Body Shop locations, I came into the store looking for something for my chapped lips, and the only product they had available as a tester was a single lip balm - which was covered in someone else's lipstick! - Surely for hygiene reasons having a jar/container rather than something you apply directly to your lips would be a better idea. I did notice much less sampling in general for other products too, it seemed the products ready to try, didn't make sense, and I laughed at how one of the few men's products would have been a shaving foam like they were expecting me to start shaving in the store! The staff seemed friendly enough and had decent product knowledge. 2* - A nice brand to have in Blackburn town centre, but quite poor compared to other The Body Shop locations, unfortunately.

Oh man.... it's the BODY SHOP…read more There's not much else that needs saying really. Everything smells so gorgeous you want to eat it and it's virtually impossible to leave without having smeared at least one body butter onto your arm. It ain't cheap - but it ain't crap either.
