I have to take away a few stars because we just came back with friends a few months ago and the service was absolutely horrendous, not to mention we had been extolling to our vegetarian friend who came about how the vegetarian meal, which is the fixed menu without ordering any meat on top of it, was also really good. It took over an hour and a half for our food to arrive and when we wanted to move to the inside of the restaurant because it was getting cold on the patio the waitress was really rude about it and reminded us that we would have to give up our seat in another hour for guests who reserved at 8p--if they had served us our food an hour earlier we wouldn't have been staying so long in the first place! Then they brought us the wrong food, and when we told them what we had actually ordered they hastily put our dishes together within 20 minutes. Why did it take them so long to bring it to us the first time around?? The food, as it turns out, is not at all substantial for vegetarians at €19. Because we had ordered meat both times we had been to Boca, we didn't realize just how little food you actually get when you don't order any protein in addition. The main dish that came was a giant leek on a bed of more pan fried leeks that were undercooked so they were still extremely oniony. Our poor friend who thought he was going to get an actual meal ended up picking at his leek because really, who eats a whole leek as a meal??! The leek is wonderful, to be sure, when there is a nice piece of prime steak or fish on top, but not by itself. Then I noticed all the dishes were the same bunch of piped on veggie mousses as the last few times I'd ever eaten at Boca, at which rate I had to think to myself, "Time to step away from the pastry bag, folks!" If I were to give an exact rating I would give Boca 3.5 stars because I still like the food, only I would definitely order a protein to go with it. Service, it seems, has never been a real priority of mine when giving a rating if the food is outstanding but when it's really bad I have to take it into consideration--just a little. read more
