Bob's Upholstery has been my go-to place for fabric, fringe and upholstery services for over a decade, and not once have I ever been disappointed. I can be pretty picky, and since sewing and upholstery have been a hobby for decades, I know the difference in excellent quality materials and workmanship versus so-so. (Do not confuse them with Bob's Furniture, as that is a complete different business with no connection to Bob's Upholstery.) This is a three generation business, which was started in Marietta in 1960, and their experience and dedication to their customers is evident. Shawna and her sister and daughter have always been delightful and helpful, and kind enough to fix some things that I goofed up (or purchased poor quality at a place a few doors down from their location). They never cut corners on quality, zippers on cushions and pillows are perfectly completed, they never over or under stuff, and their prices are reasonable. You definitely will see the value here. I've seen them be extremely patient and courteous with less than delightful customers in my numerous visits, so that makes my shopping experience more pleasant. I have recommended them to at least six friends who are also happy with their services and products, and one friend drives over from Alpharetta every time she needs something. Octavio, the owner of Bob's Upholstery, does great work! We had a large mid-century modern style couch and a Lazy Boy recliner that had been damaged and either needed to be replaced or fixed. Took them to Bob's where Octavio worked directly with us to choose the right fabric (of hundreds) for the couch and the right leather for the chair. He taught us the advantages and disadvantages of different types. The work on the couch was fantastic. Octavio even went back over the frame and legs and fixed things that weren't part of the re-upholstery. The couch is literally better than new. He even went above and beyond and made arm protectors to help keep those clean. Our chair now has high-quality leather and will last forever. Octavio is the absolute best at what he does. I have had several things upholstered over the years and wouldn't dare go anywhere else. Great prices and does things to perfection. I am very picky and have never noticed not even one flaw. I love antique furniture and with the lines and curves of the old stuff like that it can get tricky but Octavio does it, no problem. Not to mention very nice, accomodating and does the work in a timely manner as promised. He also does auto upholstery. If you read this and have work done by him you should also post a yelp review. I have used this upholstery shop many years ago and recently came back. My project was a bit of an experiment as I wanted to explore the use of a spring frame and custom cushions for a patio chair concept. Once I figured this out, I plan to build additional chairs/couch. I explained this to the new owner, Octavio. The upshot is that he has been nothing short of fantastic to work with, and the results have exceeded my expectations. In fact, he has opened up a new world of opportunities. Octavio brings together decades of experience, exceptional craftsmanship, and friendly customer service. He patiently worked with me and offered input and perspective on how to best achieve my vision. We actually went thru a couple of iterations before settling in on a final design. Ottavio was the person who came out to give us an estimate of the on the job. He showed up on time and was very helpful. He gave us a price to reupholster a sofa, chair, love seat and dining room chairs. We also asked if he could refinish the scratch marks, which he said he could do. I tried Bob's Upholstery in a last ditch effort to get the cat pee smell completely out of a couch cushion! I had washed the microfiber material thoroughly but I thought the cushion inside was going to retain the odor, and therefore, forever be a beacon call to our new kitten that it was going to be ok to relieve herself there. So, I grabbed both cushions off our loveseat and headed to Bob's. As a quick aside, if you have trouble finding parking on the street, you can pass Bob's and turn into the driveway that comes up first on the left and park behind the building. I didn't know that the first time and there was a large truck blocking me in from the business across the street, however the folks there were quick to move it so I could get out. Anyway, so that both cushions on the loveseat would be the same, I ended up having the inside foam replaced on both. Octavio is an incredibly kind and helpful person. I didn't mind leaving the cushions over the Memorial Day weekend and was able to pick them up Tuesday. The cushions were like new with a much firmer insert. I got them home and tried putting them on the frame and the cushions were so firm they wouldn't fit! I called Octavio back up to let him know and he said it was no problem to bring them back in and he would trim the inserts down a bit. I had my two young children in tow with me and he let us sit in the shop and watch which was neat for the kiddos. A little bit later and we were on our way again. Again, very kind service and I wouldn't hesitate to go back for any other related needs. Just FYI, they do not take credit cards. read more
