It has an atmosphere of casual friendliness, professionalism, prompt services and personal attention! Appointments are highly recommended since these stylists are booked quite in advance but they do their best to accommodate walk-in's when they can! Roselle is an incredible stylist like I have never seen before. I hand been bed ridden for several months. My hair was totally out of shape and I looked like a disaster. I have been coming to Bobo ever since Roselle left Creative Cuts to open up her own salon. Roselle is great. I'm always the type who tries to get an appointment last minute when I look in the mirror and don't like the mop sitting on my head. I've been able to get an appointment the same day or at the very least, the next day. I really enjoy the wash beforehand because depending on the assistant, you get a really nice head massage. Ahh, so relaxing! Makes me almost want to skip the haircut and just hang here for half an hour. I always enjoy chatting and kidding around with Roselle as we crack up about life in general. I was really disappointed when I called Creative Cuts and found out that Roselle was no longer working there. Thank goodness for Yelp though, because a quick search brought me to reviews on her new place, Bobo Hair Mode. I called to confirm it was her, and it was! I made a much-needed appointment for myself and mom. I was worried for mom's hair because last time she got it permed at a non-Asian establishment, the girl hadn't permed hair in years and took forever to put the rollers on. It was a nightmare. So who better to perm an Asian lady's hair? Well, another Asian lady and Korean at that. Who knows Asian-mom hair better than Korean people? In my experience and because of all the Korean friends I have, I'm come to learn that the Korean moms always have the most well-kept hair and they pride themselves on health and beauty. So we went in and Roselle greeted us warmly. It was great to see her with her own salon right on Hawthorne and Sepulveda. Parking was easy and plentiful and the salon was bright and clean with a few stations. She's been open since April and seemed to be doing really well. Roselle gave my mom the perm she wanted and really took her time. Her assistant Gina was superfast and jumped in whenever needed. I just got a trim for my long hair for $45 and considering the time they took and the treatment I got, it was well worth it. Mom got a really cute perm and her hair didn't smell afterwards either. The solution they used was a really good quality. I never liked going to Creative Cuts because I felt they were too expensive and the service was never consistent. I'm glad I found Roselle again and definitely consider her "the one" for all my hair needs from now on! read more

Saw my favorite hair stylist Claudia yesterday! I normally don't take much personal time for myself, so getting a hair cut and style was a nice treat! Claudia is such a down to earth person and understands her clients. It's calming to know that no matter how long I go without maintaining my hair, she always remembers that I am generic in that aspect. Best part, is if I think I want something out of my norm, she brings me back down to reality and tells it like it is. This is a RARE and VALUABLE quality in this day and age! It's not about how much she is making on this session, it is far more important that her clients are happy, comfortable and receive the quality style they came in for. I may be generic, but I am very particular about my hair and cutting it. Thank you again Claudia! Note: Some non-Asians do some blow drying but in all are happy with the significant decrease in fussy hair. -SET-TING PERM (aka Digital Perm): Gives you the body wave curls, permanently. Like you've just stepped out of a salon when you've actually stepped out of the shower and simply towel-dried your hair. Thank goodness for these hassle free hair technologies! And thank goodness for Roselle's talented hands. My hair is beautiful, has luster and is healthier each time I visit =) I don't know what she's doing but I just leave 'the hair' w/ the professional. Roselle did my wedding hair and makeup. 5 stars. I wish I could give more! Hair- Absolutely stunning. I was a fairly simple bride and wanted something elegant but simple, and she did exactly that (picture posted). She intricately weaved and curled and sprayed and styled and my hair matched my dress, my personality, everything. I bought 2 small flower clips from Etsy, and she put those in. My hair lasted all day and stayed put. Roselle also did my mom, mother-in-law, and 4 bridesmaids's hair. Bridesmaids- She picked the style- a simple updo with a braided strand of hair. My girls were so glamorous, even the ones who aren't into the whole hair and make up thing. The hairstyles and makeup were very similar, but some aspects were unique to the girls' looks, length of hair, etc, which we definitely appreciated. My bridesmaids were stunning. Moms- She chose a very natural and elegant updo for the moms. They looked beautiful. Hairs looked clean and intact... even after all the bowing and hugging they did with guests. Makeup- She had an assistant and they made a great team. Again, my moms and bridesmaids looks absolutely beautiful. Makeup was natural and brought out the best parts of our faces. You know some makeup artists completely change your face, but it wasn't like that all. They took an appropriate amount of time and care with my makeup. Again, so very natural and stayed put all day. Roselle knew I wasn't really a big fan of makeup to begin with, and she put just the right amount. I must say, she made me a beautiful bride. Roselle's work was highly admired by my wedding guests. This morning my hair was an unmanageable nest of dried out fuzzy mess. I saw Roselle and she fixed it. I loved her work. I lost touch with her when she moved to her own studio, then I moved away and went through numerous questionable stylists on my travels. Yeah, she is nice, yeah, they have customer service , BUT a bad haircut and a increase in a quota price is what you will get. I called and ask for the price for a wave and told her my hair length. She said haircut is included. Everything was great until the end-the final result. She cut my hair way too short and layered it too much where the wave flips out. She said she had to give me a soft wave but forgot to mention that it was $20 more. I didn't ask for the soft wave. I just wanted a wave-as if I know what the difference between a soft wave and a regular wave is? I could deal with a too short of a cut but the price difference made it feel like a scam to me. She just wanted my money. If I could do it differently, I would have confirmed the price with her again before the wave. read more

Just plain whatevs. ***Skip forward to the AWESOME present*** [Sunshine, rainbows, with a strong chance of a unicorn parade] At Bobo Hair Mode, it's a whole different experience. You go in, you get your hair expertly washed/shampooed, there's tea and water available, a coat rack, you take your seat...holy crap that reminds me, I think the seats here deserve a separate Yelp review because they're THAT COMFY...but anyway, as I was saying - so you take your seat, get a hair assessment, and then Roselle carefully styles your hair into a work of masterful art. WTF, pretty freakin' awesome, right? My boss told me a couple of years ago to stop going to supercuts for my hair cuts and go somewhere nicer. I took his advice and booked an appointment at Creative Cuts and was handed over to Roselle. Wow I am glad I did! Long story short, Roselle left Creative Cuts and now owns Bobo Hair Mode. What I gave up in terms of money, I gained in consistency, and quality. You really get what you pay for! I can generally get an appointment with her within 1-3 days of when I call, and Roselle does pretty a pretty nifty job on my mop. (don't look at my pictures, you won't see any recent photos of my hair) I usually go in knowing what I want, and Roselle does it. Sometimes I tell her to do what she feels like and it comes out nice! She is also a great person to talk to, time really flies when you're there Some minor details: super comfy hair washing chairs, comfy styling chairs, free cofee/tea/water while you wait, and a pretty up to date music selection. Roselle isn't who she appears to be I thought she was a kind person but she's just money hungry. Last time I was there she rushed me through my haircut to get to this white guy who didn't even have an appointment. She ruined my hair it was all uneven and she allowed this other Korean lady to help style my hair who was new. The new lady had a a poor understanding of English. I never came back after that. A friend of mine had a similar experience with her, she rushed through the haircut to get to another white person and ruined her haircut. It's sad to see Roselle change as a person I thought she was a sweet person but I was wrong. read more

I'm hesitant to write this review because I love Roselle sooo much, and I don't ever want her to get overwhelmed and overbooked! But I'm also so happy for her and her new salon. The place is great, it's in a roomy corner lot with tons of parking. The interior is roomy but unpretentious. No frills and sparkles, just good people. Roselle did my wedding hair in a vintagey 50s-ish style, it was awesome. Then I went back for more haircuts, and it was awesome. Then I converted my husband to get his haircut there, and it was awesome. He's even pickier than I, and he loved it and everyone else commented on how great it was. I asked Roselle to trim my bangs as a quickie, and she took thirty seconds to cut the perfect bangs. She is GOOD. She knows what she's doing. That's why she deserves her own salon! What I also like is that she really takes into account your needs, like how much time you want to play with your hair each day, what is best for your head shape / face shape, etc. I've never tried the other stylists, but the assistants are always very attentive and friendly. The staff here is absolutely wonderful, accommodating, friendly, helpful, and understanding of what you're looking for in your haircut, style, color, etc. I go and see CLAUDIA and have been for almost 6 years now and she is AMAZING. Yes, this place is a little more pricey but honestly if you want a great hair cut you should be willing to splurge a little more for better results. They take their time! I always spend about an hour and a half (mostly due to how long and thick my hair is) at a time. They will wash your hair, give you a nice scalp massage, cut, dry, and style your hair using their top of the line products. I have never had a product or shampoo/conditioner used on me that didn't leave my hair smelling WONDERFUL. I've even loved some of the products so much that I purchase them to use at home. They actually sell the products they use on your hair at the store! Gift cards are available as well to this location! read more

I have to say I've been to many places to get my haircut in the Torrance/Gardena, and am really happy about finding Bobo Hair Mode(Roselle). She has been cutting hair forever and is hilarious! It's always good to chat with her and get a professional cut. I've been to about 4-5 different places around Torrance / Gardena, and I would definitely recommend Roselle. Although, make sure you make an appointment! I swear I can never get the right times with her because she's always so busy. I see a lot of reviews from females, but guys don't worry Roselle is quite good! Roselle and her team did an amazing job! I was one out of four bridesmaids and bride that got our hair and makeup done. To be honest, with the makeup, I was afraid that they might make my face look I had a white mask on. However, they do an excellent job making sure the makeup looks natural and true to your tone. While she was a nice person the pricing was misleading. Called and got quoted $55 for an Up-do. Went in person the following day and was quoted $55 for an up-do from a receptionist that spoke perfect English. I made an appointment and went in and saw Roselle (the proprietor). She did a good job. Then when it was time to pay Roselle rang me up at the register. She said it was $65. We mentioned that we were quoted $55. She said we probably misunderstood their accent when we got quotes. I didn't tip because I was mad. Apparently it is a common occurrence at Korean hair salons from from what I've read at other reviews. I suggest confirming price in writing/print before going. read more

I heard about Bobo from my boyfriend, who has been a loyal client of Roselle's for a very long time. And with all the hype on yelp, I was convinced to stop by in my latest visit to LA from NY. Roselle was such a delight. I had a good consultation with her and was very thorough on what I wanted to do with my hair. I'm a very simple person so I asked for clean layers (not the shaggy cut) along with dark ash-brown highlights to soften my super black Asian hair. The cut was spot-on. She kept the length I wanted and gave me nice relaxed layers. However, the coloring was another story. The highlights came out very very VERY blonde. I addressed the problem and was taken care of right away. It still came out lighter than we had talked about but its not too bad :T Also I don't know if its an LA thing, but I didn't expect to pay as much as I did for a hair cut and some coloring. Twice the cost of what I pay in NYC. All in all, this trip to the salon wasn't a complete disaster but it was definitely a miss for me. Keep in mind to shell out some $$, and don't be afraid to express (repeatedly if necessary) what you want EXACTLY. Oh, and service is GREAT! read more

Very sad to say that I tried Roselle's makeup for a wedding I attended and have never been so disappointed in all my life, esp after the review below. A yelper posted this on Creative Cuts International's yelp page in 2008 and this is why I went to her for makeup: TEXT OF SOMEONE'S REVIEW OF ROSELLE IN 2008: Thank god I had the good fortune of discovering Roselle just weeks before my wedding. I went through several bridal trial makeups recommended by online reviews, from Brea to West LA, but none topped Roselle's flawless makeover. I completely transformed to a beauty queen on my wedding day. I would have paid her 4 digit price if she asked for it. I have very sensitive skin and eye allergies. But she didn't make me tear up with lashes or eyeliners, and it was very early in the morning when I wasn't even fully awake. She was fully prepared, very fast and professional, finished my makeup under one hour. Pow wow~ work of a genius... At my wedding, first question every girl asked me was, "Who did your makeup?? It's gorgeous.. " Even my vendors asked for my makeup artist's name. I was so amazed that my eyeliners, fake lashes, and everything were still perfectly intact hours later, even after my many emotional cries. My friends and sisters all agreed my makeup was the BEST work they've ever seen in any weddings. However, you may have to make a special request to book with Roselle for makeup because her main specialty is hair styling. My last hair cut with her was FANTABULOUS. REST OF MY REVIEW: Bottom line is, I wasn't transformed into a beauty queen or anything close to it. After paying all that money I had to go home and do my makeup myself because what she did for me was pretty much non-existent. Overcharged and unsatisfied! Wanted my hair blonde so i went for a color,I came here for the high reviews I had virgin hair so color lifted fast,they recommend me a toner so it wont look too yellow the toner was an extra $50 which was insane and after the toner it looked the same my color was only blonde in the ends and a reddish brown color on the top,they rushed the application process and rushed me to get out and didn't even blow dry my hair !! I left with my hair damp and frizzy and I will never trust high reviews and never come here again read more

Roselle is AMAZING! She's always so pleasant and always gives me good advice on how to make my hair look its best. I'm always super happy with my haircuts and since they blowdry/straighten your hair along with the cut, my hair looks super amazing that day. It's $45 for haircuts, which I don't think is too bad at all, considering I've paid more than that at other places and have been way less satisfied in the past. The salon also offers complimentary water/tea/coffee and there's plenty of parking in the surrounding parking lot. My stylist, Cindy, moved here from another salon across town. Cindy is fabulous! Cindy is great with color and highlights, especially on Asian hair. It took a few times for her to find the right color for me, but that's true of most hairdressers. This is a beautiful and very clean salon in Torrance with lots of parking. I got a digital perm here. The owner Roselle is a very nice Korean lady and the salon is clean and neat. But I don't think she completely understood what I wanted my cut and perm to be, so she did it with her own understanding. The cut turned out too short and the perm average. If you want your normal/daily style hair cut, this is a good place. But if you want something stylish and young, I won't recommend here. read more
