Caesar salad
Rob M.

Airport food lives in the shadows of the free market. The food scene exists only in a subterranean realm most of us prefer to avoid. Our reviews hold no power. At least some level of disappointment is implied. We grade on a curve that strains like an Olympic power lifter to hold our gloomy and greasy meals to a passing standard. Bobby Vans lives in this world. And it will outlive us all here. Once you have accepted this bleak domain, you can, however, find some light. For instance, the Caesar salad is fine. It even has a good Parmesan ratio. The order of fries come in a good portion, and can, upon request, be accompanied with a spicy mayo. And the servers are truly trying. Also, if you added steak to your salad, it actually comes in a more respectable portion size than you might expect. You should, however, order it at least one to two levels of done beyond what you would like. I asked for medium rare and it came out like one of those woolly mammoths that are discovered in the Artic or Siberia. Not alive, but not far off. And very much in need of a thaw. (Photo included) I hate sending back food. I asked for it to be cooked (more?), and the server (who truly was helpful and quick) recognized the issue immediately sent it back to the kitchen. The steak returned a few moments later somewhere along the rare/medium-rare border. Because I want to be honest with you, dear reader, about what to expect, I'll tell you the truth. Bobby Vans is a fine place for a drink. If you want food, they can provide it. However, whatever they are using to thaw/heat their food is probably running a little low on battery. The fries, meat, and any other dish that requires heat could use some extra time. If you order accordingly, you'll be fine. Your server will be friendly and fair, and you'll soon be on your way to wherever in the world you are headed, hopefully that is to a place better than JFK airport, terminal 7.

We came to this restaurant which is in an airport since we had extra time to spare until our boarding time. Also, they take priority pass. We arrived to one entrance and stood there waiting because there was a sign saying "please wait to be seated". We stood there for few minutes. However, all the servers passed us and didn't seat us or said anything to us. I was confused because there were plenty of seats and it wasn't that busy. Then I saw another entrance and people got seated from that entrance. We were pretty upset that the workers there completely ignored us. So we quickly moved to the other entrance. By the time we got seated they said breakfast just ended and that we had to wait for lunch. We weren't happy with the first impression or service because we could have order breakfast if they didn't ignore us. Therefore we had to wait over 30 minutes until lunch time. Finally, we ordered a sandwich and a burger. The food was alright for the amount time we have to wait for lunchtime and for them to make the food. The service was pretty slow and ambiance was okay. There were some seating in the front of the restaurant and there were more seats in the back. The restaurant was well lit and have an old dining vibe.

Food (2/5): The menu options were quite sparse and the items very overpriced (e.g. $30 burger and $70 steaks). I think they adjusted their price due to priority pass. Overall the food itself was ok and definitely not worth the quality. Service (2/5): Initially the servers were quite rude and non-attentive. For example, one of the entrances had a please wait sign. Many servers passed by us without saying anything, apparently you had to use the other entrance and nobody decided to help to inform us. Additionally the signs and menu clearly mentioned breakfast until 1045am. We arrived around 1020am and they wouldn't let us order until 11:15am. Additionally, the overall server attitude wasn't friendly. After waiting almost 40 minutes to order, the food itself took over 30 minutes to come. Very slow service. Over time though, the servers got more friendly and helpful so perhaps it was just and off period when we came in. Ambiance (3/5): Looks like an old school steakhouse. A lot of the decorations looked dated. However, the place was clean and spacious.

Caesar Salad with bone dry chicken

I was seated quickly and the service was good. I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The order came out quickly. The chicken was not only stone cold, it was bone dry - inedible. The server was kind and removed it from my bill. I got the clam chowder instead because I was still hungry. The chowder was decent for airport soup. Will I be back? Not at these prices, even in an airport.

Stopped in before a flight and the service from Teddy was excellent. Breakfast sandwich, croissant, egg and sausage was decent although a bit odd. There were 2 link sausages cut lengthwise then topped on the egg. The swiss cheese if put over the sausage would have kept things together. Not the best balance between the main ingredients. Potatoes were not great at all. Simple vibe so early in the morning.

Not sure why ratings are so low because I've always had pretty good experiences here. Food is decent and service is efficient and friendly. The regular burger here was much better than expected, especially the quality and cook of the patty. The wings were a bit over fried so I'm not sure I'd get them again. They used to offer a quesadilla (another solid item), but it was missing from the menu on our last visit. With priority pass your meal is covered at $28 pp with an option to bring in a guest. FYI tip is not included in this.

This is one of those cases of being stuck in a bad JFK terminal for American Air international and having one option to eat. No one would ever go out if their way to come here. It's where servers look like they're working the grace yard shift at 7 pm. Our waitress couldn't be bothered and why should she when 20% is automatically added, which she did her best to try and hide from us. Took forever to get a sparkling water. Burgers were okay. Not the worst. Salad, eh. It's the airport and lives up to every bad restaurant joke out there.

Ordered a medium-rare burger to go. Pros: - accepts Priority Pass - quick and friendly service - allowed me to get onion fries instead of French fries - ample portions Con (really only one): The burger I ordered was closer to raw than medium-rare, a dangerous thing when you're about to be on a plane for an extended period of time! My stomach hurt, but luckily I had no severe issues. Ultimately, I would come back and be happy to use my Priority Pass benefit here, but I would play it safe and ask for medium instead.

TLDR; came here to use my CSR priority pass benefit with a guest. Service was a bit slow, food was decent for airport food, but if I weren't redeeming my priority pass benefit then I wouldn't have come. I came on a weekday for dinner before a flight out of JFK. I have priority pass through Chase so I was able to use it there, but at the entrance they noted that Capital One and AE priority pass users wouldn't be able to use the benefit there. I brought a guest and we were seated immediately. I got a Turkey burger purely because I wanted avocado in my burger which ended up only being so so. My guest got the regular burger, and I definitely should have gotten the same but just added avocado. The burger was really thick and hefty while the Turkey burger was skinny and small. I'd come back to redeem the benefit but that's about it.

Not a bad place for a decent steak prior to your flight. Definitely on the pricier side, but for CSR PP holders, the restaurant credit makes it more accessible. Service was good, food met expectations (didn't except too much from an airport steakhouse). My steak was actually quite good, but what was annoying is that they only have butter knives. The waiter informed me that steak knives aren't allowed in the airport due to security concerns - with that said, they offered to take the steak back to the kitchen to slice for me, but I declined. With that said, if I'm passing through the terminal again, I would not hesitate to come by for a pre-departure meal.

Lobster ravioli Sweet spicy wings House Cesar salad.
Thaung M.

Actually I'm very surprised that an airport restaurant, let alone a priority pass affiliate was one of the most stellar places I've been. The food was appropriately priced, tasty, fresh and sizable. The lobster ravioli actually has quite a few chunks for real lobster meat. The wings were juicy, crispy and perfectly cooked inside. The salad ... just right. Our server was also very attentive, polite and friendly. He made sure to ask each table that they have enough time before their flight's boarding time. Being right past the TSA checkpoint, it's a good location too before a short walk to the gates.

Jack Daniel's Burger
Christian C.

This burger is way overpriced. I got the Jack Daniel's burger, which is a fine burger but nowhere near worth the $30 (before tax). If you have the priority pass membership, use your credit here otherwise don't bother. The hostesses were quite rude too.

Sangria
Tracy L.

Unfortunately, if I can give it 0 stars I would. The hostess said that the kitchen was down due to mechanical errors. So I decided to just sit down and grab a drink instead. The waiter approached and rudely asked "what do you want?". No eye contact no hello. So I politely asked for a sangria. He responds with "ok lady". Sangria didn't come out until 15 minutes later. Another guest had accidentally spill her drink and no one came to help her clean up the mess, although several servers were just standing around. Bartender sounded nicer than the other workers. No food and bad service. I get it, sometimes things just stop working. But bad service? Bad attitude? No excuse.

Chicken Parmesan was very dry and the spaghetti had a rancid oil smell to it. Way overpriced. It was extremely loud near the bar area.

BE ADVISED: a 20% tip is included on the drink price, but the bartender will give you an unitemized receipt that just says total with a line for a gratuity like a restaurant that doesn't add a gratuity. If you ask for the itemized receipt it shows your order with the 20% gratuity included, which matches the unitemized receipt total above the gratuity line! This is really a shady practice. And all the bartenders do this as though they were trained on the practice. I'm probably going to report this to the NYS Attorney Generals Office.

I ordered the short ribs and the five-onion soup again, and both were excellent. The service was spot-on and impressively quick--my food arrived in under 15 minutes. The owner is also really cool; he personally greets guests and makes a point of chatting with the performers to ensure they're comfortable. This is a wonderfully romantic spot. The beautiful flowers add such a nice touch (as I mentioned in my previous review). While it's not fully upscale, it has an elevated, sophisticated vibe that makes you want to dress up for the occasion. Highly recommended!

Well, at least business was "Blooming" due to Mother's Day reservations…read more All jokes aside, I visited this restaurant yesterday for a Mother's Day brunch with a group of eight others. Our reservation had been confirmed the day before by both our host and the restaurant. When I arrived early, I was surprised to find the place jam-packed and clearly overcrowded. The front-of-house staff, along with the presumed owner, seemed overwhelmed and initially could not locate our 12:00 reservation. There were also guests with 11:30 and later reservations that were still waiting to be seated, along with several other groups scheduled around our time. After waiting nearly 50 minutes, talking with others who were also waiting, and watching two other tables be hastily set up and filled, we were finally seated. The table had been quickly wiped down and set with placemats, but it was missing silverware and several glasses. Most of this was resolved fairly quickly, though two people still never received glasses, with one person asking a few times for one. Our clearly overworked waitress brought us water and eventually took our order after a shorter additional wait. I ordered a $6 cappuccino, which was enjoyable, with a moderate amount of foam and a pleasantly bitter flavor without tasting over-roasted. However, another person's $4.50 iced coffee did not seem worth the price, as it appeared to be no more than a 12-ounce glass and was mostly filled with ice. Outside of coffee, the staff was understandably slow with water, with long waits, and we finally got a pitcher near the end of the meal. For my meal, I chose the $16 Poached Browns, which included two poached eggs, pulled pork, an English muffin, hollandaise sauce, and their Bloom hash. Many minutes later, and I mean many, the eggs were properly poached and were the highlight of the dish. The pulled pork, served without any additional sauce, was dry, and the small amount of hollandaise did little to help. The hash on the side lacked crispiness and vegetables, aside from what might have been a tiny piece of chopped yellow pepper. Overall, it was below average but passable. Two others ordered the Make Your Own Omelette for $19, which comes with a choice of three ingredients, the same hash, and bacon. They made two specific requests, both of which our waitress confirmed: first, that they did not want bacon, and second, that they could substitute fries for the hash--regular fries for one person and sweet potato fries for the other. Despite this, both plates arrived with bacon, as you can see in my first photo, where one of them transferred her bacon to my plate. The other person sent her plate back and ended up receiving her Mother's Day meal well after everyone else. The omelette also looked a bit more like a frittata, which I didn't mind. After waiting a while, including finally getting pitchers of water, we finally left after a long and annoying bunch. If this spot indeed had reservation issues, why on earth were they still allowing walk-ins? Why did they tell people it would take 15-20 minutes to seat when it would clearly take 30+? This entire experience was inept from beginning to end. The food this time is closer to a 2, but our experience as a whole was closer to a 1. I would never go back.
