Brad was amazing as a guide. We went out with 2 dads, and 3 kids (3,5, and 8). Brad was kind and patient with the kids and out us on the money. 5 limits of walleye in 3 and a half hours! Incredible day of fishing! Brad was personable and took the time to walk the kids through everything including a nearby eagles nest. We had an incredible day and the kids won't stop talking about it. Went out with Brad today on a half-day afternoon with my fishing-obsessed 12 year old boy. We limited out on sockeye! Brad was easy going and communicative. He responded quickly to emails and texts to get us set up. He was there to do all of everything, but he could sense that my son wanted to help and gave him a little more room to be a first mate. There was a younger girl on our trip and he was very kind and encouraging with her--of course she caught her limit first! All in all a great afternoon and I'm sitting here smelling grilling fish made by my son. read more

Bobber Down Guide service was amazing! Our guide, Kurt, was fun and personable and made sure everyone had a great time out on the water. He was knowledgeable about the area and very informative about the fish in the river as well as gear and techniques. We caught a bunch right at the beginning of the trip, then the bites slowed down so Kurt changed things up and we almost instantly started getting bites non stop! Wow! Not the experience you are looking for in fishing guide, especially with kids. I do not recommend for anyone. Rude, lack of customer service, hangs up on people and gets mad at you on the phone. It started off with me and my son booking a king salmon trip, only to find out it was cancelled at the last minute due to "scheduling issues on the web", understood and that was fine. We then took an alternative route and booked a sockeye trip two days later at 11am with an email confirmation and receipt to confirm the time. We received a note from Brad the night before that the trip leaves at 8am. I called Brad in the morning (8am, I was a 60 minute drive away) after a conversation Brad had with a friend looking to book at 11am with us saying Brad was "pissed" and "irritated" we were not at the dock when he said, when the booked time was 11am. I then called Brad about the departure time to say we booked an 11am launch time and would not be there at 8am where he hung up on me after saying my son and I would be at the launch at 1030am, 30 minutes prior to our agreed to time. After he hung up on me, he called back and began to get mad, attack my questions and say I was the one who conflicted the timing, I then sent a screenshot of the reservation for the time where he said, "that is not what we do usually", "the time is what I say". We never went out needless to say. All in all, this was a bad experience with a hostile guide who has no idea how to control his temper or work with his customers. Way to go Brad Wagner. read more

Brad is the real deal as a guide. We have done salmon, lake kings and lake Chelan Kokanee with him. He works hard to keep you on the bite. Helps you learn how to fish for the species and knows where to find the fish. Good equipment, safe boat with easy maneuverability and gives you the full time at fishing. Works with my elderly father and his limited mobility and works with my husband so he can enjoy fishing even with a deathly fish allergy. I'm only giving a one star rating because zero stars are not an option. This business is not Better Business Bureau accredited due to failure to respond to a customer complaint--soon to be 2 complaints after ours is filed--regarding failure to return a deposit (due to medical reasons). We canceled 2.5 months in advance for medical reasons and are losing the $758.80 deposit. The owner Brad refuses to communicate about this matter in an adult manner and is now ghosting us. VERY POOR customer service. While it appears that he has exceptional ratings for his trips, you better make sure you do not have to cancel (Impossible, by the way! Sometimes illness, injury, or life itself just gets in the way.) before you put down a hefty deposit. You'll find that Brad will become not so exceptional while he gladly pockets your hard-earned money. read more

My Dad and I have fished with Brad Wagner (owner) a few times now, for salmon and steelhead trout. Most recently, we fished the Methow River for steelhead on 11/10, and it couldn't have been a better day of fishing. We caught our limit of hatchery fish (2 per person) and caught a few wilds that we released after exciting fights in bringing them in. Brad has been fishing all his life and knows what he is doing, especially where to target the fish. He makes his own jigs, and oh buddy, they are money! Plus, Brad is just a cool dude to hang out and fish with for the day. A lot of experienced fisherman (even guides) can be condescending or just not that fun to be around, but Brad is willing to teach you to become a better fisherman and doesn't get impatient. He just loves to fish, so he gets just as excited as you do when you get a fish online! He's also willing to put in extra time to get you the fish--we didn't leave until after dark! Before that though, he gutted and filleted our fish. Overall, Brad's a great guide to fish with. I highly recommend him and I look forward to fishing with him for many more years! read more

If your reading this and your any kind of a fisherman, intermediate, or novice you'll know it's called fishing not catching. Been out fishing with Brad twice now, once to fill a seat on the drift boat and had quite the experience and a FN good time! Fish were caught, fish were lost but more importantly you will learn what it is to fish. After that, took 2 of my buddy's over for sockeye on the Columbia river for another GREAT fishing adventure! My friends and I were happy for how long we'd been out on the water, but Brad fished us way longer then we intended cause we needed 2 more fish! WE had to tell him it was time to go. my fishing experience with brad wagner, dba dobber down. january 7th 2019 i booked 2 trips for myself and my wife. two days kokanee in june and two days salmon in july and made the required deposit of $871.20 includes tax. i asked brad three times to send me a confirmation. never got it. the first day of kokanee fishing to our surprise he added a 3rd person. i said the cost should be split 3 ways. that did not happen. on the second day i asked, what do i owe you after deducting my deposit? he looked at his phone and said, i have no record of a deposit. i said i know i gave you a deposit, i just don't remember what is was. my wife asked what deposit do you charge? he said $200. not $200 each. then my wife called our office and confirmed a deposit of $871.20 on speaker. then brad miraculously found it on his phone! because i had an appointment with my doctor for back surgery i told brad i may have to cancel and is now enough notice to refund my deposit. he said definitely, i will refund your deposit. when we got home i called brad and officially cancelled our july trip. that was approximately 35 days before the trip. i asked, are you going to send me a check or credit my card for the remaining $432.60? he said credit card. a few days later i called, he said he had been busy but will do it tonight or tomorrow. from then on he would not answer my calls. one of my calls on his voice mail, i offered to take payments. later i learned salmon fishing was closed. he still won't return my deposit. i would imagine people like him is not good for the many hard workig honest guides. alan eborall (208) 755-5532 read more

SIMPLY EXCEPTIONAL is the first thought I have when someone asks about Brad Wagner and Bobber Down fishing guide service. I have fished with Brad 8-10 times now including Springer Salmon, winter steelhead, Columbia River salmon and even Kokanee fishing on Lake Chelan. I can truly say that Brad is the hardest working, most pleasant guide I have ever been with. I have never seen anyone who enjoys seeing other people catch fish more than Brad. Most guides go by hours of the trip. Brad goes by the number of fish in the boat. He will go to dark if you need to catch that last fish to limit. On top of that BRAD KNOWS FISHING! He is extremely knowledgeable and takes great care to teach you how to fish whatever you are fishing for and is always up beat. His equipment (boats, rods, reels, etc.) are all top of the line. He is meticulous about even making his own jigs, salmon eggs and other baits. Brad catches fish when other guides come in empty handed. Yesterday we limited out on spring Chinook salmon with huge fish when the river report was that only a few other fish had been caught. We also released 3 native Chinook on top of that. The only bad thing about Bobber Down Guide Service is that he is so good and well liked, most of the time you have to book trips months in advance to get a trip. A worthwhile trade off for a perfect day of fishing. read more
