My son learned to play violin on a rental from Murphy's for about 2.5 years. When we saw he was serious about the instrument and was ready to step up his game we went to a few places to look for violins. Not surprisingly, we ended up back at Murphy's where we purchased a violin from Bob. It produces simply gorgeous sound, no doubt my son will cherish it for the rest of his life.
Since this had been our first instrument purchase we didn't know much, but Bob took the time to show us countless violins from his vast inventory until we found one my son loved. As time has gone on, our good decision to buy from Bob has been reinforced, time and time again. Seems he can handle any issue in his repair shop. From simple tune-ups, broken strings, repairs, bow re-hairs, he has always gone above and beyond to satisfy us, his customer. I especially love how he sees the instruments he sold you still of his own because he'll care for them by adjusting and fixing stuff you didn't know was amiss, and he doesn't nickel and dime you each time a tool of his touches your instrument.
Not only that, but having chatted with Bob a bit, he really cares about and takes an interest in the people who play his instruments, I've seen him do it with my son. He is generous with his time, and when you visit his shop, you'll see the many ways he generously supports music students who would otherwise be unable to have an instrument on which to learn. That's the kind of person whose business you want to patronize.
The shop manager Rob is attentive and always attempting to surpass customer expectations. No matter if you are a beginner or advanced player, do yourself a favor and visit Bob Murphy's Violin Shop, you'll be glad you did, I certainly am. read more
