Here's my response to Jamey W's comment:
I want to make this very clear to you and any potential buyers, you never reached out to me personally about my concerns and issues, you did make a comment to my yelp review that, in my opinion was a pre-drafted comment. My opinions about how your staff handled this situation was the poorest negotiating I've experienced.
How dare you accuse me of attempting to negatively affect your business and employees. If your sales staff would have conducted their negotiations in an honest and truthful manner, I wouldn't be writing this. That is a accusatory statement, which I demand an apology.
Allow me to explain my experienced. I spent around 10-15 minutes examining the alleged damage to the area on this car that I've noted in my review. I concluded that this area had damage and my pictures reflect the damage, I do wish I could have taken more pictures of the area on the left front quarter panel to verify my opinion.
As I walked into the sales area with Ian or Greg (the salesman uses both names, his business card states Ian). He started to draft the paperwork and I stopped him to address the damage and asked what he or the sales manager could do to adjust the price. He said "I'll find out what I could do", he came back and said "this is what we can offer you as a price adjustment", he proceeded to say, "based on the MSRP price of $18,499 we'll reduce the price to $16,999". I told Ian/Greg, "there is no such thing as an MSRP on a used car" "Mercedes Benz doesn't provide anyone with a suggested retail price on used cars" (MSRP isn't provided or used for used cars it is for new cars) and then I added that the price this car for sale on their website is $16,999 so ultimately there was no reduction in price. I told Ian that I wouldn't be down here buying this car if it was listed at $18,499. I reviewed KBB website for pricing and the price on the KBB website was comparable to $16,999 if the car did not have any accidents. Ian at no time provided any price comparisons at any time. He started to explain that they use various websites to price a car. After he reviewed your own website and read that the list price for the car is $16,999, he told me, "I'll see what my manager says about reducing the price". He came back and said they're not going to reduce the price, he said that price reflects fair market value. I asked him "does that include the factoring in the damage to the car?. That's when he told me "you may have noticed the damage, but someone else may not, so we're not reducing the price, we'll simply sell it to someone else". Which is the most absurd comment I've heard. In my opinion, they acknowledge that there's damage but we're not negotiating the price, we'll wait for someone else to come along and not notice this damage. ***This is the reason why I have created this yelp page and submitted this review. If I don't make other car buyers aware of my experience, they could be making a huge mistake. There was some more back and forth with me trying to negotiate and the sales manager was not willing to work with me. So in the end, I shook Ian's hand and told him "thanks for wasting my time" and I walked out.
It took me almost 2 hours to drive down there and to get this type of treatment is BS. Ian new how long it took me to get down there. During the heated and frustrating negotiations with Ian the sales manager came by and introduced himself he didn't ask me if there was anything that he could do to help. He didn't realize that my negotiations with Ian was frustrating and falling apart. In my opinion, he didn't care and walked off.
No one at any time did anyone provide me any type of full disclosure on this vehicle. In fact there was not window sticker on the inside of the window that details what type of car it is and how you're selling the car. The window sticker states if you're selling a car "As Is" or "With a warranty" label that should be posted on the vehicle. I did not see that label, which I do believe is a violation of the California of Dept. of Motor Vehicles. There's a FTC used car rule, you can find the rule on your own. I suggest you look at the pictures I posted and you will see that there isn't a window sticker posted on any window or in the car. I have the original pictures that clearly show this piece of paper was not on or in the vehicle that I could see.
In addition, Cargurus.com requires you to submit an inquiry about a car through their website before submitting a review about a car that you have seen and review about my experience to buy the car. So I was following their instructions. I did not continue to try to contact you or anyone at your dealership about this car. Trust me I'm over it.
My opinions about your staff are my own based on my personal experience and this website was created for this very reason, to make other car buyers aware of my personal experience. People are smart enough to read my review and make their own decision. read more
