My husband has sailing experience and Captain Matt gave all in his guidance to allow my husband to be at the helm while respecting every moment of our safety. I have very little experience on a sailing vessel, yet always felt very safe under Captain Matt's watchful presence, even when we ventured out into the big waters of Lake Michigan! It was the best way to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday!! Captain Matt was prepared for seasickness (and even showed me how to go down below to gauge my level of tolerance, which thankfully, I didn't experience any seasickness symptoms. It was very reassuring that he knew how to assess my tolerance). He had light snacks and water available if needed. We forgot to bring hats, and were so happy they were available. Other reviews mention that you can bring your own snacks/food/beverages and music. We just wanted a great sail and got more than we expected! Highly, highly recommend!!!

My husband and I took home a 5-gallon bucket of fillets, as did my daughter and her boyfriend. Captain Rob is professional, polite, offers helpful suggestions, & truly ensures to provide the best fishing experience possible! Cannot wait to go back in the Spring, for another fishing trip. We'd give him 10 out of 10, but Yelp only has a 5-star rating system. You've definitely got to give Manhardt Charters a try!!

We unfortunately had picked the weekend of Milwaukee's big Salmon-O-Rama tournament. Captain Todd still found a way to squeeze us in for a mid-day Friday charter, despite the drain on Captain Todd's time to prepare for the big tourney scheduled the next day. So I am writing this review not just because we had a great time and caught some nice salmon and trout, but because Captain Todd went above and beyond to accommodate us.

I have done several charters in the past, out of Port Washington, and Sheboygan but never out of McKinley at Milw's lakefront. I called a few companies but they didn't impress me as much as Capt Todd with Brew City Charters. I sent him the deposit, he confirmed back and was clear and concise about the trip. The morning of the trip, Capt Todd and his son/first mate Colin were right there at the boat at 6am on time, they were rigged and ready to go. They made us feel welcome and were genuinely concerned about making sure we got on some fish, plus they were terrific guys!! Well we didn't have to wait very long, about 1 hour out my nephew hooked up on a lake trout and we ended up with 7 nice keepers. I can honestly tell you if you are looking for a safe, comfortable and fun trip do not hesitate to contact Capt Todd; he'll treat you right!

We didn't know what to expect, but we were in good hands with experienced Captain Jim M, who said he learned to sail with his father on Lake Champlain. Captain Jim M gave us basic sailboat terminology, so we understood what was going on when he gave us our tasks. He let us use the tiller to help steer the sailboat and taught us how to tack. He made sure we were always aware of what was going on around us and made sure we always felt comfortable in the boat. Communication was number one with him and it made us feel comfortable, confident and safe. This experience was so much fun and way beyond my expectations! Captain Jim M is such an incredible asset to the organization, as he is a volunteer here. I highly recommend visiting this organization. Captain Jim M is there volunteering on Friday mornings and Sunday mornings. What an amazing day!

The pavilion makes for a great venue. Their main hall is vast (I'd imagine it can fit a solid 150/200 people), and it overlooks the lake. It's definitely more of an old, vintage type vibe inside. The ceiling is really beautiful curved wood too. I thought the staff did a great job serving this big event - all wonderfully kind and it seemed like there weren't any hiccups. I believe Saz's is the catering partner of this venue, and they did a great job. The outdoor beer garden space was wonderful too. Tons of picnic tables, a huge bar, and lots of sunshine to soak up on the beautiful day that it was. When you're in the beer garden area, you can get an even better view of the lake anddd the city skyline. Overall I'd say this is a delightful venue for events!

Scuba diving + Milwaukee = does this make sense?…read more Yes, yes it does. I can't speak to the scuba diving part of this whole shebang, but what I can speak to is Jerry's depth of knowledge when it comes to diving, the Great Lakes, and super cool MKE history. (Depth of knowledge... get it? Depth? Scuba diving?!?) Sorry. So Pirate's Cove is this dive little shop on Oklahoma that specializes in gear and charters and whatnot. I really would have no occasion to go to here, as I'm no scuba diver and my claustrophobia when it comes to weird breathing situations really seems to suggest that I'll never be one. That said, this place is wicked cool, because who thinks of scuba diving and MKE in one breath? Not me before visiting Pirate's Cove, that's for sure. (One breath... get it? Breath? Scuba diving?!?) So how in the name of sweet baby Jesus did I end up here? A Yelp-related neighborhood tour, of course! Christina L put together a fabulous tour of her little known but much beloved Morgandale 'hood in January, and we got a chance to check out some super cool, under the radar local businesses just west of Bay View as a result... Pirate's Cove being one of them. Jerry knows ALL THE THINGS about shipwrecks on the Great Lakes, and listening to him talk about maritime underwater property laws and MKE history? FASCINATING. This dude knows what's up when it comes to scuba diving, that's for sure. He's fun, funny, knowledgeable, and approachable. So while I can't speak to gear prices, charter costs, or anything else, I can speak to Jerry... when I visit. (Har har.) Really though, Jerry is a treasure trove of knowledge and information and he's a super nice guy. Should you have any questions or want to learn more about scuba diving in the Great Lakes, Jerry's your guy and Pirate's Cove is your spot. (Treasure trove... get it? Treasure? Scuba diving?!?)

They do just about everything, but the problem is they don't do it very well…read more As far as Lake Michigan charters for wreck diving, they are pretty much the only game in town. This is their strength. You will get taken to the scheduled wrecks, you will get moored up, and you will be mildly assisted in and out of the water. If you have a close call, like we did when we almost ran out of air on the Milwaukee, you will be chastised and teased by the staff instead of helped and treated with respect. The shop is tiny. The sell some gear, but it is extremely marked up. They do certifications, but the instruction is nowhere near that of a 5 star shop. I did not know this until I took classes at other dive shops.
