I had been looking forward to attending this class for over a year and chose to celebrate my birthday here with friends and family. We were all very excited, which made the experience even more disappointing. The class started an hour later than scheduled, despite the website stating that participants cannot join if they are more than five minutes late. There was little to no explanation for the delay. Once the class began, it felt rushed, likely due to the late start. When I asked for help, staff often stepped in and fixed things themselves rather than showing me how to do it, which defeated the purpose of creating my own pottery. I also asked questions about air bubbles in the clay and the firing process but was not acknowledged. This was especially concerning, as I later discovered that my bowl cracked during firing--something I was specifically worried about. Additionally, the glazing and firing processes were not explained at all. When we moved on to painting, we were left to figure things out on our own without guidance. The class is advertised as making a bowl, but the final product was much closer to a small trinket dish, which was another letdown. On top of everything else, they lost my pottery when I called to check up on it and it had to be found. Given that we spent several hundred dollars, I expected a much higher level of instruction, organization, and communication. The overall experience, combined with the complete lack of response to my attempts to address these concerns, has left me deeply disappointed and regretful that I chose this studio.

Picking your project in advance is required so they can have all your stuff ready. The fine details like colors and stains are decided on the spot. Funny enough, 3 out of 7 of us chose the same project! It was the holiday card display board. But even when that happens, as you can see with my picture, they all turned out very different. The class was booked for three hours and we were indeed there for 3 hours. They sell alcoholic bevvies for $5 and had a great selection. They have multiple bathroom stalls there that are very clean. They have a sink in the back with special soap that takes off any paint you might get on your hands/ nails. The staining process you gotta be careful with and wear the gloves. And the sanding process please be careful. A friend got a huge splinter which was bleeding. They helped us clean it up and put a bandaid on it so she could keep creating. Employees were super helpful and easy to flag when you needed help. But they pretty much roamed around the whole time and jumped in to help workout needing to be called over. I was impressed. They took group photos for us and we left with our beautiful projects! We can't wait to come back. They have events for kids as well.

You can pick a single day, or the whole week for a discounted rate. $48 included tax, 3 hours of instruction (you send your child with water and a snack), and a huge canvas to take home at the end! There was even enough time to allow the kids to pick out a small wooden or ceramic piece to paint as well (my child chose the Christmas tree). This place is easy to find via GPS and has plenty of parking. Inside, there are many painted canvases hung up showcasing all of the beautiful artwork done in the studio. This place also does birthday parties, private events and more! My child loved the experience and we are going to hang up her artwork on the wall in her bedroom. This experience is recommended for kids aged 6-12 years.

I'm honestly baffled that the establishment is called "Painting with a Twist" because to me that insinuates there will be alcohol but I did not know this location was bring your own bottle. I've been to other paint and sip places that either provide the wine or at least have a selection to purchase. Considering that it's BYOB, I feel that the value does not match the price you pay for the class. When we arrived, the canvases were already set up and you were assigned a seat, so you did not get to chose whether you wanted to be closer to the front where the instructor was. My friend and I were placed towards the back, and although they did have TVs around that streamed the instructor live, they were a bit too small and low quality to really make out the details. I was also surprised to see the image we were painting was already draw on the canvas, which I'm sure it's for the sake of time but I personally find it more fun to be instructed step by step to create the painting from scratch. The instructions also felt a tiny bit rushed as I was struggling to keep up, but that could have just been me being too much of a perfectionist. I enjoyed that the instructor took breaks to do trivia and allow people to catch up! One of the instructors had read the books and you could tell she had a passion for Fourth Wing. I also appreciated that they came around and assisted with anyone who needed help. While our main instructor who was painting with us did a phenomenal job, I was a bit distracted by the other instructor who was on her phone every once in a while when she was not waking around assisting people with their paintings. Overall, I had fun but the experience was just ok to me, definitely not what I was expecting for paying almost $50. I was really excited for this, and a little sad that the experience feel short for me.

Tip: If you don't come across a deal such as we did, it seems like they offer discounts code from their Facebook website, so check that out! On Easel Expression's website, there is a calendar of which art piece each class will teach and you're able to reserve the one you want. On some days they have 2 sessions - one in the afternoon and one in the evening. We chosen a evening one to attend with our group of 6 and they were easily able to accommodate us. In addition to our group, there were two other classmate that joined the class. The store is bright and inviting as you walk in and the girls there including the instructor was sarcastic yet fun and also very encouraging. Tables are pre set with a blank canvas and brushes on the table with a bowl of water to clean for your brushes. There is a table against the wall with a 'ingredients list' of the number of pumps you'll need of each color that is lined up in huge jugs. "2 pumps of blue, 3 pumps of black, 2 pumps of white..." Very easy to follow. We all also got to wear cute canvas aprons to look the part! The art of the night was 'Hoot Hoot' and it was the painting of an owl. The instructor said 3 hours long! However our group completed the mission in 2.5! Score! She was very patient and taught us tricks on how to blend to make the owl more lively. Also you can add your special touches to your own painting (i added smiley faces to my shoot stars! :)) This would be an awesome place for birthday parties for kids, date night, and for groups too! One thing I was unsure about, was gratuity. There was no tip jar and it seems like the store was the instructor so I'm not sure if thats why there was none. Thankful we arrived a little early so we could get our pick of seats. (Tip- Don't sit in front of the table with paint or you will be scooting back and forth all night to accomodate people) It's located off Orange Avenue in a small little plaza of businesses next to Full Circle Yoga. If lot is full, you may have to park off street. As noted on our confirmation(we picked our painting and booked online), they urged us to arrive 10-15 early . Check in was simply letting them know our names and then we were free to pick our seating. The studio did all of the work for the painters. Art canvases were set up and already painted the background color for the painting(dark blue to miror a dark sky) and plates of paint were set up under each canvas along with brushes and a bowl of water to dip brushes. They don't sell alcohol but DO allow guests to bring their own bottles for a $5 corkage fee. They do sell soda and water as well as bags of chips. So I would recommend eating beforehand because you will be here approximately 3 hours. The actual class instruction was good. Our instructor was very on top of staying on schedule so that we didn't run late. This kind of instruction may not be best for everyone especially if you are new to these kinds of classes. She would try to give guests a few minutes to catch up but would move on. But obviously you work at your own pace. Unlike other painting classes I have been to, the instructor was the only one that could help and give suggestions. She walked around occasionally to check on paintings but she was definitely stretched thin especially with such a big class. The painting was all free hand for everyone so we all had to draw exactly what she would draw on her canvas. I'm pretty amazed how well our paintings turned out. I loved the music playing- some 2Cellos but all current hits but classical style. Very relaxing. At the end, they did a drawing for those who checked in on FB and/or liked their page and gave away a free class. This was probably one of the better painting classes I have been to. The most unprofessional part of it is that the money was never refunded to my account. Even though they called me and asked me if I wanted the funds given back and I told him yes. Anyway I knew at some point I would get my finances back. So I just made a call and let them know that they never gave me back my money and then I would like to use the credit for a class. With no issues at all they made it happen. We had a lady name Ebony who was definitely well knowledgeable about painting. She also sold me one of her paintings as well. Definitely a beautiful painting that I had to take home with me. She was great as far as her leader ship, her knowledge of painting and her overall ability to just have some fun and give great directions with a small group on a Wednesday. I normally just do food for yelp, but because this was so much fun and so entertaining I definitely want others to know about this place.
