I always like the idea of getting Chinese takeaway more than the actual eating it and general sense of dissatisfaction afterwards. I mean generally everything's a bit too greasy, the snacks are deep fried and you're left feeling hungry a couple of hours later no matter how many mountains on chow mein you stuff down!
But when you go for it and not had it for a while, it really hits the spot and when visiting Bo Ho last night it definitely seemed to be on the better side of the average takeaway. Now while the food probably isn't going to make it beat the likes of Red Chili in the city centre (amazing authentic Chinese if you're looking for a proper restaurant experience), the food was very tasty and upon going to collect it, all cooked in front of you while we finished waiting.
We had starter portions of pork and shrimp Dim Sum, followed by beef chow mein (my staple go to dish) and Schezuan King prawns which were all pretty tasty with just the right hint of spice. Topped off with boiled rice it came to £20 for the 2 of us which I think was pretty good value.
There's some good little places around Heaton Moor that I wouldn't mind checking out more, but I'll definitely go back to Bo Ho again! read more
