I am a long time customer of Mitch Wright Plumbing, Heating and Air, and have had the club contract…read morefor just as many years. During this great winter freeze of 2018, one of the control valves on my tankless water heater apparently had been leaking for some time, and finally iced over on last Wednesday, causing one of the on/off levers on the hot water separation tube to ice over and knock the lever out of its socket, which caused a perpetual leak from the hot water tube. The technician came in record time to assess my problem and determined that the valve kit needed to be replaced. As a precautionary measure, he suggested replacing the cold water tube valve kits as well, which was a great idea. The tech. checked his Job "price book" and determined that my job would cost $600.00, but since I was a club member, I would get a discount. He did not have the kits and had to return to his office to make the order; thus, he came back on the next morning to complete the job. I have to admit, the job is excellent, but the cost was something I did not expect, but I needed the repair so that I could have hot water. I have American Home Sheild, but they do not handle the tankless water heater issues, so I did not call them for the service. As I was in a tight situation by not having hot water, I did not have time to search for other bids for the job. I can never complain about the workmanship of Mr. Wright's Plummers and Electricians, but the cost was a bit excessive. On a side note; maybe the large amount included the cost of the five-year warranty on the parts. Just my thoughts on that.

My fiance has been up in the attic more in the last three weeks than he has been in the last four…read moreyears of owning this home because of this AC unit. He used this company last year (2024) after his home warranty company denied his claim because the blower motor for his AC went out. The inspection and installation of a new furnace went smoothly and ended up with a $5k bill, but the AC worked again. So fast forward to when the evaporator coil started leaking water he called Opach again. First tech came out and said that my drain was not leveled. Said it was almost $500 to fix that. However, days later the system started to leak again with water running down the walls and through the ceiling. He called Opach again, the owner gave him some options, but also said he needed a larger emergency drain pain. Most of the options sounded like they would not fully fix the issue, so my fiance asked what the cost would be so it could fix the issue with the water leak completely and not have to worry about it in the near future. The man quoted him about $10k. My fiance wasn't expecting that cost, but he went with it thinking if it took care of the issue then that's the price he will pay. We left the AC off to avoid further water damage. The first crew came out took out my old evaporator coil and outside compressor and put in a new evaporator coil and compressor. Thinking everything was cool we went about our day, until we saw more water running down the walls and ceiling in his Son's room. My fiance went to the attic and everything they had installed was leaking (supply, and evaporator coil) and the drain from the coil was hanging down loose with some tape on it. The supply looked like someone had beat it with a hammer and one of the return ducts had been knocked down. He shut off the Ac and call them to come take a look and the original tech who fix the first leak saw there was an issue, apologized and sent out the same crew to fix the issue, also they sent a guy who we thought was going to patch the ceiling, but didn't he just painted over the water stains which just came back next day. The second time they came out to fix the leaks we asked them if everything was fixed now, they said it was. My fiance went up to the attic again and everything that was leaking before was leaking still. He called them back and told them again that we can't use this AC with it leaking, also the vent for the furnace was disconnected, so now we can't use that. They came out one last time and told my fiance that the drain from the evaporator coil was clogged and that was the cause of the supply and the evaporator coil leak problem. We, having dealt with all of this was skeptical, but hoping to be done with this got a plumber to come out (another $500 job) and snake the drain. The plumber didn't find any issues but noted that the drain from the emergency pan was bent upwards so the drain will never drain, also there are no sensors or anything to detect if the pan is full so unless my fiance monitors the AC constantly we will be dealing with worst water damage. The Tech from Opach came back out and said the water leaking from the supply and evaporator coil was still the fault of the drain being clogged and said they would be back out to fix the drain pan pipe and the exhaust vent. That was almost a week ago and haven't heard anything from them. I have been without a reliable air conditioner for almost a month now thanks to this. Also his son can't stay in his room because of the water damage from the HVAC unit in the attic. We are left with an AC that when it runs leaks water so to save our ceiling we have it turned off. We would not trust this company with anything in our home after this. After they got paid, we could tell they were looking for a way to place the blame on anything else. *Update* Weeks later, my fiance sent a rating for the company about the job and that's when we were contacted. The original team returned and were able to stop the water from leaking into our home, but the unit is still very much damaged and beat up, the ceiling in my fiance's son's room has not been patched liked promised, and our exhaust pipe is still disconnected. We were scammed, completely overcharged and given trash for an AC unit. At this time, all of this has cost us well over $12,000, and we have yet to contact someone to look into patching the ceiling and look into the extremities of the damaged all the water from that leak has caused. Before allowing this company into your home to "fix" anything, get a second opinion.

I call to find out where they are since I have to take time off of work to wait around. We'll, they saw a town truck in front of my house and instead of calling they just left. Leaving me to chase them down to get them to come back that day not reschedule like Airserve wanted. Now on to the new house, try try again I hoping that maybe it was a one time issue. NOPE!!! I have them come to look at the houses unit. Well I get call about how the unit is on terrible shape. I can "fix" it for $800 or replace it for like $6,000. I ask them to please wait and trust that they will send me quotes. Wrong again the service guy goes behind my back scares my elder mother into thinking that the unit needs to be fixed ASAP. So they STEAL $800, from my mother. I look up what they did and talk to my friend who does HVAC the parts he replaced were $50 for both. How do we get $800. Also, Im the home owners if I tell you NOT to do something you dont prey on the elder to rob them of their money. I call to talk to someone, I miss the call because Im working, try to return the call and NEVER heard back. Very upset, I also asked to cancel my membership because thats BS supposed to get discount on service, yeah they dont discount anything. They still taking the monthly fee out, this company just loves to rob people.

I hired this company because my upstairs air conditioner stopped working and the downstairs unit while blowing cool air couldn't keep up. The upstairs unit when taken apart did have a small amount of ice on it, it was not covered just the bottom. (the guy was here 3 hours and never checked the unit again said it most likely has a leak is low on freeon, and not sure it could be filled) . Started quoting prices and showing me photo's of gauges, quoted me a price of $3600.00 to replace fans and coils that aren't guaranteed and I really just needed a new system. He cleaned the downstairs system told me it was getting weak might last a week or could last a month or 2. I was told when he cleaned the coils that the unit was used to running at a higher amperage and with clean coils it had a memory and would continue to run at the higher coils. It was 83 degrees in my house by the time he left, and did nothing to the upstairs unit, had the attic door open for the 3 hours he was here which let all the heat poor into the house even while he was outside working. He never checked the upstairs unit again after he cleaned the downstairs unit and in the 110 heat indexes that would have been melted before he left here. Said he would try to see if they could schedule me an appointment for the next day but could be back before Friday, this was Monday. Had to make sure there was no leak to add freeon. However I could speak with their home design team to schedule a new install and if I signed a contract with them they would return and put freeon in my unit at no cost and without checking for a leak. I could pay their monthly maintenance fee for the next 10 years on the new unit and they would take care of everything. I was quoted a price of 99.00 per unit to clean and tune them up and would pay more for freeon if needed. My bill was $403.00 and they did nothing except clean it and put some gauges on it. This morning came and sure enough 9 am on the dot I got a call to schedule the design team, when I asked about the repair for upstairs they didn't handle that but could transfer after I scheduled the team for the new unit. My alarm bells were going off yesterday so I did some inquiries with friends of mine in the commercial business for HVAC and they got quite a laugh at the information I was being told. Back story here my house is only 8 going on 9 years old, I have a 4 ton unit and a 3 ton unit, with the new freeon 410 I believe it is. My buddy sent one of his crew out to go through my system. There was no leak and it was 2 pounds low on freeon which happens over time. My coils are not going out right now, has a tiny bit of rust on them but none on the coils themselves, I will need to replace the unit in the next couple years if I want to go up in tonage, but they can easily replace a coil for around 350-400 and if I did both units and both fans it would be 1400 to 1500.00 not $3600.00. My downstairs unit was definitely under a bigger load trying to keep up with the heat by itself, and when checked a few minutes ago is back where it needs to be. The downstairs unit caught up and brought the temp to 70 overnight, then of course with the heat the temp went back up with the attic open a bit more today it only reached 77 in here today. With the upstairs unit back up and running the temps are already dropping in here this evening. Please beware of this company if your wanting a repair, get a second opinion before spending your hard earned money. Very sad in today's economy that someone retired is taken advantage of like this.
