Just diagonally across the road from the Sparkle Horse. My appointment was on halloween. They had a horror movie playing in the background, bottles of fizz and had all gone to the effort of putting on face paint and getting into the spirit. Lovely girls, really chatty and listen to exactly what you want. I went for my usual Sombre/Balayage colour with a cut and blow dry. It only cost £65, which is very reasonable. They even told me where I could buy the vegan products they used on my hair (Sally's). My hair is in great condition, even after having colour done. Can't wait for my next appointment with these gals!

One of the staff has been trying to wangle a discount for clients across at the Sparkle Horse, which would be great if that comes about as I've enjoyed my time in there too the few times I've been in. She's also looking at getting in someone to do Botox - which is not my thing for a few reasons, but it might be there some time soon if you want it. The one thing I wasn't keen on was that the sinks seemed a bit low when I was getting my hair washed - I think I remember one time I was in a place where the sinks could be adjusted for height, but I only go to the hairdressers two or three times a year so I can cope with that.

I'd been following Blow's instagram since they opened and promising myself that as soon as my hair…read morehad healed from the last run in with bleach I'd be there. Given that my last run in with bleach resulted in blisters on my scalp, massive breakage and the very real threat of my only option being a skinhead, it took me till almost their first anniversary to make it in. I'm glad to report it was well worth the wait. I'm also not in the last ashamed to admit that in my quest for purple locks I as good as begged for bleach but this time with the wonder product olaplex. I'm afraid I'm not the person to give you sciencey facts and figures about this stuff. As far as I am concerned it is a magic potion created by fairies. It takes the evil out of the bleach, despite my hair being lightened from dark brown to platinum (before the purpling) it feels amazing and in great condition. After 'lifting' all the colour out of my hair the purpling commenced and I am so happy with the result. Bright, punchy and super shiny. In the salon I didn't feel that I was getting much of a cut, Tabitha didn't seem to spend very long brandishing the scissors but she must just be a speedy genius as my hair is sitting brilliantly - even when I completely neglect to even pretend to style it. Given the results I'd be heading back to Blow but on top of how chuffed I am with my do this is without a doubt the friendliest salon I've ever set foot in. Everybody was warm, welcoming and without pretension. I'm genuinely looking forward to going back, I wonder if I should try a different colour...

I somehow left with a balayage, half my head untouched, the root starting very low on my head, and a yellow streak. The overall look was much much darker than discussed. I wanted to like it as the girl was so nice but it really wasn't what I asked for. I checked it over the next morning and as I was still so unhappy I sent an email and left a message with reception but the salon is not replying. I would not recommend this salon for colour. The salon does a lot of Instagram but is not good with customer service or colour. I have noticed that when customers leave bad reviews, the salon argues and blames the customer. Another reason not to visit.

The concept is pretty simple: get your hair washed & blow dried into a choice of about 8 styles for £20. You can add on special hair treatments (a BLODeluxe they call it here) using L'Oreal Professional products for an extra £8 or throw in a relaxing hair massage too for £12. You can also request a special up-do (bring in a photo) and that with the blow dry costs £35. They also provide a make-up & party lashes service too (again for extra). I was here alongside my fellow bridesmaid & bride the morning of her wedding and she had paid for us all to have our hair blow dried exactly how we wanted. I chose to have mine big & wavy. Having never been somewhere like this before I was unsure how it would go but upon entering the salon the staff were all super friendly & welcoming and they wasted no time in getting our hair washed straight away. The lady who done my hair was very lovely & chatty and I soon felt at ease there. I always enjoy getting my hair done so having a cheeky wee blow dry for this special day was a real treat. I was offered a drink whilst getting my hair done which was lovely and this salon, being quite new, is bright, airy & modern. I always wish I could recreate that special hairdresser/stylist blow dry...it's magic! The amount of volume & body she managed to give my hair was great - it is now 2 days after my blow dry & my hair still feels fuller! She used big curlers through my hair & also curled it using the straighteners (a technique, I admitted, I can never master being the total straighteners novice I am) and asked if I was wearing a flower of anything in my hair so allowed for that too. Really nice attention to detail. Unfortunately it happened to be an incredibly windy day the day we came here so I did find after about an hour some of my curls had dropped a bit but that's just my hair - it tends to refuse to be curly! Haha! Luckily a fellow bridesmaid had a curling wand on hand so she re-did a few strands for me & I hairsprayed it some more. I had many compliments on my hair that day (and even today I did too!) so I know they done a grand job and the other bridesmaids also looked lovely not to mention the bride herself who looked beautiful. BloDry is a great idea & perfect for those who want that 'just out of the hairdressers' feel but not want to get their hair cut or coloured. I can see by how busy they were that day that this place is going to be, if not already, pretty popular.

No mention of a cuppa or refreshment offered. So then i got my make up done now this was great the girl was friendly and listened to exactly what I wanted and spent lots of time creating my look I wanted the full HD make up.My hair was a bit of a disappointment I asked for big hair look, and out came these metal barrel brushes which were sort of rollered on to my hair and left to hang so I had like 10 brushes hanging off my head which 1 cant be good for my hair as it would surely break it and 2 really uncomfortable and tangled when it was being unravelled. My hair looked okay but no idea why 10 brushes were hanging off my head when some professional heated rollers would have done the same job more professionally with less damage. So going to pay I was charged extra for the HD and lashes which was fine no problem at all but my deposit hadn't been taken off and the pdq card machine was working but they had run out of till roll for it. So about 1 and a half hours later yes my make up was wonderful my hair was okay but it really really lacked professionalism and enthusiasm. Not sure if I would go back which is a shame loved my make up.

Experts…read moresay that you should go to a hairdresser that has curly hair herself, but short of hanging around outside salons in dark glasses, this can be more easily said than done. Especially as most hairdressers now have a uniformed GHDed hair style. I decided to try Hair at Hart because it was inexpensive and conveniently located for me. (It's just by Morrison's off Dumbarton Road). I popped in on Tuesday afternoon and was told that I could either come back in 20 mins and have my hair cut, or I could make an appointment for the following morning. Perfect! When I arrived at Hair at Hart for my haircut, I was the only customer. I had a shampoo and cut (no blow dry - if another hairdresser ever trys to use a diffuser on me I might cry. It makes me look like a poodle) which set me back a grand total of £11. Not bad, no?! The assistant and the hairdresser herself were friendly, and chattered away about the X-Factor while they cut my hair. Although I ended up losing a lot more hair than I wanted to, I've come to expect that from hairdressers - and overall it was a good cut. She seemed to understand curly hair, and I felt quite confident about what she was doing. One day later, and my hair has been left in a really nice shape. If you're looking for a good cut at a really good price, Hair at Hart's is a great option.

I'd always wondered what this south side salon was like, but I was content in my long term relationship with my hairdresser. Unfortunately she up and moved to Australia earlier this year with just a letter in the post to let me know (heartbreak!) so I needed to find someone new. It took me an exorbitant amount of time to even book for a haircut and so by the time I made it here I was well in need of a cut. The salon is nice, if not a bit wee. There's an area downstairs too which is the beauty area which is good for privacy (they also do nails). I had my hair washed and massaged (a little more firmly than I'd normally like) and then my hair was taken care of by Lindsay. I wasn't looking for anything drastic, just a simple tidy and that's exactly what I got as well as getting my non-existent fringe sorted out. She was great at styling my hair just how I liked it as well, which was appreciated. They also have a loyalty card which gives you your 4th cut for 1/2 price, as well as an app which seems like it might have some good offers on it from time to time.

This was about 18 months ago and it's now become my go to place. It's open throughout the weekend and late some evenings so it's an achievable place to go if you have a busy job like I do. Price wise I think it's reasonable £30 - £40 for cut and blow dry depending on the level of person you go for. And they don't try to push lots of extra products (treatments?!?) when you are getting your hair washed etc. Which I like. Recently had quite a drastic cut here from very long to a bob and felt like the staff talked it through well with me and that I could speak up about how I wanted it. Rather than that awkward squeaky yeah I like it when really you don't. Would highly recommend - not gone for five stars as not had any other treatments from here

Ok I have to update my review from 11 years ago(!) - just for fun…read more I've been having my hair cut by Meg since... 2009 I think? I've been getting my hair cut at Rainbow Room salons since about 2005, though. I moved away in 2016, but Meg is still there and I still stop in whenever I'm in Glasgow because she just knows how to work with my hair better than anyone else. The salon has been remodeled recently and it looks fantastic. It's really modern, super bright, and they've made great use of the space. You still get a great view of George Square, too. The stylists seem to enjoy how functional it all is. Now that they have reopened they've continued to have strict protocols - minimising contact, spacing out appointments, and requiring masks. So much has changed, and so little. They still take the time to sit down and get to know their clients, consult on what they're looking for, and include some little luxury extras like a head massage before they wash your hair. They use good products and tools. My hair always looks and feels great once Meg is done with it. She also takes into account how it will grow out. Honestly, I usually leave thinking it's a bit short, but then 2-4 weeks later it sits exactly how I had hoped. With other hairdressers I often find I have split ends after a few weeks, but my most recent cut still looks great 6 weeks on and I'm still getting compliments on it. If you're looking for a hair salon in Glasgow, look no further.

All photographs have been destroyed) I haven't had my hair styled anywhere else for the past ten years. This is because finding a good hairdresser is like finding the Holy Grail, i.e. hard. I choose John as a hairdresser because I trust him and he is confident enough to suggest his own ideas of what may suit me. He also exudes warmth and is always up for chatting about anything and everything, sometimes bringing other customers into the conversation which results in a friendly, easygoing atmosphere. I have also had my hair put up for special occasions by Margaret and Michelle, both did a beautiful job. Be prepared to wait however, as the salon is usually busy
