I don't really enjoy going to get my hair done, generally, so I was excited to try David Corbett as it's got a pretty good rep and I had the impression that it was quite fancy. However, the impression I was left with after visiting is that David Corbett isn't as fancy as it thinks it is. And quite frankly it's a bit of a mess. The salon's being done up (allegedly) at the moment, although I went here a few weeks ago with a voucher my parents got me for my birthday in August, and my Mum said it was in that state when she went in. 3 months before that. There were wires hanging out in some places, bits of the salon that can't be used at all just now and it just doesn't look nice inside. I know my parents paid a fair bit for the haircut and I felt bad that I'd wanted to go here in the first place. My stylist, Siobhan was really great and I absolutely couldn't fault her, she listened to what I said (huzzah!) and checked a few things with me to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. But getting my hair done in David Corbett just wasn't really a nice experience overall due to the surroundings. Well, that and the fact that when I went in I was totally ignored and left standing about for a bit like a total muppet. The reason I was interested in getting my hair done here (besides the "fancy" bit) is that they're on the Paul Mitchell (cruelty-free hair stuff) website as being a stockist. I never saw any evidence of Paul Mitchell products, but of course this could be an error of Paul Mitchell's and not David Corbett. (I didn't bring it up when I was there because my parents had got me the voucher so I didn't really want to make a fuss, so again that bit isn't the fault of David Corbett.) If I'm going to spend a bit of money gettin' ma hair did, I prefer it to be somewhere I enjoy being in and know I'm gonna get totally pampered in. Unfortunately I just didn't get that in here. I don't normally write reviews but after reading the review left by moirasallym I felt as though I had to because it couldn't be further away from the truth(based on my experience) and I would hate to think this would ever put anyone off going to David's salon. David done my wedding hair in July 2010and my personal experience was spectacular. David done both my bridesmaids and my trail on a Sunday(a day when the salon is closed) to make sure he could spend as much time to perfect the look and our hair was just amazing! On the day of my wedding David came to my house on a Sunday and brought a another member of staff with him to make sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish, which it did. He arrived at 7.30am sharp and had all 11 people finished and looking a million dollars by 11.30am. His passion and enthusiasm for his job is exceptional and the effort he put in to everyone's hair that day was just incredible. My own hair was like a work of art, so much so that people are still talking about it to this day! So I think it's fair to say that no-one could argue with his hair dressing ability!! But having him there on the day was also great, his infectious personality and positive persona made everyone feel happy and he definitely added a special something to the atmosphere on the biggest day of my llife! On the day of your wedding you want the people around you making you feel special and he certainly knows how to do that in abundance! He even went out of his way and stayed longer than he needed to cut my dad's hair at the last minute. Everyone's hair stayed in all day and night which was amazing considering all jumping around we done all night on the dance floor!lol I can't put into words how grateful I am for everything David done for me on the lead up to my wedding and on the day itself and it's something I'll never forget. Based on my own personal experience I would have no questions about recommending David or his salon to anyone. I have been asked on several occasions for David's number because they've seen pictures of my hair and loved it - in my opinion that says it all! I also have been a client of David's for many years, and not once have I had any experience remotely like that which has been mentioned here. I have always left after every visit feeling a million dollars. David is both professional and friendly, and the atmosphere in the salon is always lively. Moreover, I (in my terrible bad habits) have called up the day before for an appointment and have either been able to get David himself, or another of the fantastic staff and never been given any hassle over the issue. How anyone could be disappointed in David and the teams skills is a mystery to me, and I will continue to go to the salon, despite having moved away for university. read more

After visting David's salon for a hair trial, i was very disappointed. I was offered very little advice on a suitable up do and felt extremely uncomfortable with the attitude, manner and lack of enthusiasm my designated hair stylist. After sitting for some time of having my hair back combed, then more back combing, my hair was put up only to then have all it all taken out when i said it not was i was looking for, no other alternative style was discussed or shown. The result was all the back combing had brushed out!! My head was aching by this point and i felt like crying as i was, by this point, in pain and feeling extremely uncomfortable. In the end, i just said i was happy with the end result as i couldn't bear to sit there any longer. I left feeling very unhappy and would therefore not be visiting again or recommending to any of my friends or family. read more

Booked this hairdresser a year in advance for my daughters wedding in July. When I arrived he was very rude and offensive,said that I should have been there at 8 o'clock and not 8.30. Two of the bridesmaids were there for 8, but at no time did he make it plain to me that I was the one who had to be there for 8 am.Ther was only him and another hairdresser there, so how he thought he could do 5 lots of hair at the one time is ludicrous. Had it not been my daughters wedding day and the fact that I didn't want to upset her, I would have retaliated at his rude manner and would have walked out. He said he couldn't do my hair, and left me sitting for an hour and a half. One of his assistants did my hair.It was very nice. Didn't get out until 11.00 am. My daughter was getting married at 2 pm. He really upset me, my daughters and the bridesmaids. The girls had gone to the salon with their pink champagne to make the day special, instead they had to watch me sitting crying on what should have been one of the most special days of my life. There is no excuse for such bad manners. I have heard him speak to his staff in this manner, in front of customers, not very professional at all. He is lucky to have such nice staff.Bridesmaids hair had to be fixed before going to the church. It's an overpriced, cramped salon. I, and my family members will now use one of the more professional, roomy salons on the Main Street, where the owners know how to treat their clients with respect. Jenna as I commented to you before, I am glad you has such a great experience, but mines was exactly as I have stated and yours was obviously as you stated. Because you had a good experience it doesn't mean that everyone does. Why David Corbett behaved in the way he did, I still can't figure it out. Just our bad luck I geuss! He obviously wasn't happy with my review, as he threatened to sue me if I did not remove it from this website. If he hadn't acted in the way he did, it would never have appeared! Now using Graham Dignall on Main Street. It is very professionally run, and has a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Great haircuts too, would highly recommend it. I was surprised and shocked to hear that Moirasallym did not have a good experience as a customer of David Corbett Hairdressing. I have been a customer of david's for at least 15 years. We have shared many celebrations within our family where he has been integral to the feel good factor of the day. All our family , 3 generations of both male and female will testify that his staff and his small ( but always exceptionally busy )salon are a credit to him and his personality. Don't be put off using this salon by the rantings of an uptight mother of the bride. Let his busy client base be testament to his flair and creativity. read more

I also had my hair done by David Corbett for the Breast Cancer Care Fashion show. He was amazing, charming and funny..he made all of us look stunning. Ive never used his salon and have not met him before nor after...but today I came across this dreadful page as I was googling to find out the number for his Salon. Moirasallym Im pretty sure you must have been strung out the day of the wedding and maybe you didn't realise you were being a stroppy customer...but to take the time to write such a damning report on your day is so petty and childish..and could in the long run damage his business...it beggars belief what people do when they have to much time on their hands. I feel I have to express how my experience with David Corbett because of the mixed reviews on here!!! I have been attending David Corbett for many years and never have I felt disappointed, upset, ignored etc!! I love going to get my hair done in David Corbett because of the atmosphere the kindness and the experience you get when in the shop!! You get greeted in by the receptionist, you get taken to your seat offered a drink, and magazines your appointed hairdresser then comes to you introducing themselves if you have not had them before , asks you what you are looking for ! And if needing any inspirations for something new they will talk you through it all before anything, then your drink comes with the added touch (chocolate) , when you get your hair washed you get your feet up feeling relaxed with a head massage which is incredible, I have never ever heard or seen a so called bad experience in the whole time Iv been attending David Corbett hairdressers!! Every time I leave I feel like a film star !!! Ready to go to the ritz!! David has opened the shop early for me closed the shop late for me to suit my times!! And I'm sure I'm not the only one!! . He goes out his way to make sure that every customer that enters his shop walks out feeling better than they have ever felt or expected to feel after attending David's shop!! .. On 17th of June 2012 which was a Sunday and fathers day!!! I had my wedding day!! And David opened his shop again for me, to have me and my 7 bridesmaids mother of bride auntie of bride cousin of brides hair done for my wedding!!! He asked all of us to come in at 8am their was 3 hairdressers who were David Emma and Jenny!! We had all very different hair very different styles!! Basically we were your worse nightmare!!! But not in David's shop!! We were all relaxed because of the atmosphere because David Emma and Jenny!! We all got drinks!! All got our hair done to the best you can get!! And also my photographer was in taking photos!! And it was the best morning I could ask for!!! We all finished for 11am for my wedding at 1:30 !!! It was the start to the perfect day!! And would not change my morning for the world!! One of a kind. I met David a couple of years ago when he started doing my hair. His time care and advice he has given to me has seen my hair grow from strength to strength. I decided to write this when my mum, a hard woman to please said' I've never liked your hair down but I do now. That's the best it's ever looked, very full, that's what hair should look like.. thanks mum! Its true being a bottle blonde has been hard on my hair but how it looks now is great thanks to David's time and care. The patience and kindness he has shown me really has been amazing. Only recently I had my friends wedding and hoped David could put my hair up, unfortunately David was full but knowing how important it was to me he opened the salon early and gave me an unforgettable style that everyone complimented. He really is one of a kind, it's no wonder he has been nominated for British men's hairdresser of the year for his gents work and Scottish hairdresser of the year for his ladies work. Thanks again.
