Blur Hair Studio - Just got my hair cut by Andrea and absolutely love it! - Hair Salons Near Me - Nipomo, California

I've been hesitant to write this review, but I feel like sharing my experience may help someone else be careful about who they trust with their hair. I usually have my hair done by Rosie, and she has always done a great job. Last December, Rosie wasn't available to do my hair, so I was referred to Sarah instead. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. I went in for a spiral perm, something I've been getting since I was 13 years old, so I'm very familiar with how my hair normally responds to a perm. After this appointment, my hair was severely overprocessed and damaged. I was also uncomfortable when Sarah made a comment insinuating that I was trying to copy someone else's hairstyle. I have never experienced this kind of damage from having my hair permed before. Months later, I'm still working on getting my hair healthy again, and it has not fully recovered. I'm sharing this because I think it's important to be careful about who you trust with your hair, especially when chemical processing is involved. I can only speak about my own experience, but unfortunately, mine was very disappointing. read more

I had a root touchup and a haircut with curtain bangs done by Andrea, and I couldn't be happier with the results! Bangs can be scary when you haven't had them in a long time and she did a fantastic job. She was professional, attentive, and easy to chit chat with. She listened to exactly what I wanted and made sure I left feeling confident. I would definitely recommend her and will be coming back for future appointments read more

This place has great reviews and I did receive service here twice. The prices are reasonable.

Andrea was super attentive and spent a lot of time perfecting my new style. She was fun to talk to while she worked. It was very easy to book my appointment online. Will definitely be a returning customer. read more

Johnny is my guy! But Jessie is really awesome too. This is a no frills place. They are there to do your hair, and do it right. Johnny does a wonderful job job on my hair, so yeah me . The feel in this place is low, low, low. So you walk in and don't have to do a fashion show. Great video regarding that if that is what you like. read more

Got a hair cut and style at Blur Hair Studio for the first time. I have wavy hair, and unfortunately tend to get pretty random results when going to a new stylist. Josh gave me the best cut I've had in a few years. The entire experience was efficient and professional, from the online appointment request, starting on time, and a nice personable interaction with Josh. read more

I've had my hair cut several times now by Sarah and she's done an awesome job. She listens and takes her time to give the best cut possible. And it's great that the salon is practically within walking distance ...no need to drive all the way to SLO for a haircut! read more

I feel super confident writing a 5 star review because it's based on three different visits. Jesse colored my ends to match my roots a week before my wedding, I did the bridal hair trial with him, and I hired him as my wedding-day hairstylist for myself and my family. I'm a sucker for good customer service, and I was beyond happy with how friendly him and his staff were during my first visit. I like how my hair turned out every time, and I liked that he's so open to explain the process as he's working on my hair. He was also great at answering questions about my hair, and offering suggestions. He's an overall down-to-earth and talented person, that's easy to converse with as well! I think it's pretty neat where the salon is located, on the second floor of the building, because it has a nice view from inside. I'm always so thankful for good business owners in Nipomo that care about their customers and their community. read more

This was my first time coming to this salon, which can normally feel a bit intimidating to me. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcome and comfortable in my decision to have my hair done here. The staff was kind and the salon was very clean. I came for a highlight and cut. Sara is such a sweet and personable stylist. She really took the time to talk me through the process and make sure I was confident in the direction she would take my hair. I left feeling radiant, and am so happy with my decision to book with Sara. I will absolutely be returning. read more

Today was my first visit at Blur Hair Salon with Sara. I am so happy with my cut and highlights. Sara did exactly what I asked, and she is such an amazing, funny and kind person. Couldn't be happier with not only the final look but my experience with Sara. Definitely recommend her and this business! read more

It was my first time being here! The atmosphere was very nice, big open windows the moment you walk in and everyone is welcoming. I had Jesse as my hairstylist and mind you, I haven't had anyone touch my hair as far as cutting or dying it for roughly 4 years. He did an outstanding job. I showed him photos how I wanted my highlights and how I preferably want my layers to look like. He took the time to talk with you to make sure you are both on the same page before starting the process. Jesse gave me exactly what I wanted and I'm very pleased with the results! read more

Blue Hair Studio is my favorite hair salon to go to in all of slo county. It's so easy to book appointments with their online booking system, there's no need to call to make an appointment which I love. The staff is phenomenal, they do a great job and set a great atmosphere. Danny is my go to girl she always does such great work. The price is such a good value, compared to other salons it's almost outrageous how low they charge for what you get, full haircut and blow out and amazing service. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Im responding to my original post back in May and didn't get a response until over 2 months later. At the time of the cancellation of my appointment, it was very unprofessional as it was just a text message without a call like the first time which was a week prior. I didn't appreciate the text saying "here is couple of other people to call and make a last minute appointment". I figured Danny didn't have another sitter for her kids again and used Covid as an excuse which is the common one everyone uses nowadays. When I hear covid, there should be a test to prove it otherwise its just an excuse to not want to work & do their job. I never got a true apology from her from the 2 weeks of cancellations & she just left me hanging and very very stressed out to make appointments at the very last minute. I don't forget things but all i can say Danny really left a very bad taste in my mouth to ever make an appointment with this salon in general again. read more

Angie has done my hair for years and I think she is fantastic. I have very straight hair and she does a great cut. She does very nice high light and low lights so I know my hair always looks nice. I would recommend Angie and any of the stylists in this salon-they are all very good. read more

Love love love the atmosphere of this little hair studio. Got exactly what I wanted and it felt like I was their friend from the moment I walked in. I wanted to find a hair studio that was local and reasonably priced. Jesse did an amazing job on my hair and was attentive to what I wanted. Love supporting local businesses. Thanks again for making your place feel like home read more

Jessie is awesome and is very accommodating for his clients. He has very affordable prices which keeps me going back. I was very impressed my first time here. Loved all the window and light in the shop. My friends and family have raved about him for years and now I know why. I highly recommend for any hair treatment. I got a cut, color and highlight as well as some hair care tips when I was there last. read more

This is an out-of-the-way salon, located upstairs in a medical/dental building. This can be a good thing because you are not paying for a salon's high overhead. It's very unlikely you'll ever have any trouble parking, and just because it's out of the way doesn't mean it's hard to find, at all. This salon is sparkling clean and simple. I was welcomed with a smile as soon as I walked in, and offered a beverage. The waiting area could be a bit more comfortable; I'd prefer 3-4 easy chairs in the corner, instead of a table in the middle of the shop; it felt a little awkward. I heard about the shop from a friend and wanted to find a salon closer to home than SLO. I made an appt with Angie on a Saturday morning. The shop was busy; everybody was working. Angie is very attentive and gave me a great cut and styled it as I requested. The shop gets an "A+" from me for cleanliness, friendly attitude, easy location, and good prices. read more

I had put off getting my hair cut for about a year when I started looking for recommendations on Yelp (I was in-between stylists). I read the reviews for Blur Hair Salon and called them after reading other reviews. I was able to get in the next business day and got an appointment with Rosie. When I got there, I felt comfortable right away. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. No worries here. Rosie did a fabulous job with my cut and color! I am definitely going to book my next appointment with her again. read more

I called and was able to get an appointment for the next morning. Jesse was very professional on the phone and in person. We talked about interesting things during the cut. He knew about hair - how to treat it, how to cut it. I am so happy with my cut! I am growing out a pixie and he knew just what to do to make it look soft and pretty again. Highly recommend this studio! read more
