Though 10 months ago when he did my taxes I would be willing to say "This guy's alright, do business here." today is a completely different story. My recommendation, before you take on this tax man, know that he is a very one-track-mind individual and though he seems to care about you, if you call him out on his credibility, or lack there-of, he won't hesitate to leave you stranded when you need it most.

I was…read moresolicited by this company last February 2012 in response to an internet search for help with a Tax Audit. I was assured that I would be excellently represented for the sum of $3500 (in advance of the service being completed.) I took all docs and receipts to him and explained that I travel extensively for my business and really needed someone that I could depend on. I also explained, that the retail docs were a bit disorganized, which he immediately assured me was of no concern and upon seeing, stated he had seen "much worse". We got along great initially. So great that I asked my partner to also work with him. As a result she sent STS her very organized docs. However, ultimately, he allowed the mandated Audit hard dates to pass after he assured me numerous times that he was taking care of everything. This resulted in large fines and penalties. After terminating STS, I was able to work personally with the tax auditor. Errors, resulting in wrongful tax amounts due, were reduced by over 33% ( which STS had indicated was not possible). However, the resulting fines that were leveled as a result of a missed hard date while I was traveling, were not removed. It was agreed that the tax accountant involved (STS) was not very knowledgeable and had been very "cavalier" in his care of my case. Security Tax Service did provide organizational assistance and the staff was friendly and cooperative otherwise, however, the key player, although initially friendly and affable, became condescending, sarcastic and ultimately shrugged responsibility causing financial damage and extreme stress. My files were completely dumped out of their file folders and mixed up, causing hours of re-organization. In over 30 years of experience as a successful business woman, I have never been treated in this manner.

When I asked why she was so defensive and why they are being so elusive over a normal business issue, she became irate. When I asked for someone else that can help me over the phone, she was again very defensive stating that they can't help us and can only respond to emails but don't know when someone will be able to get back to us. I then stopped by their office on a Thursday to pick up a copy and was told that I couldn't get one that day because there was only one person in the office. I asked if I could come back the next day and was told that it wasn't possible to have a copy ready (of documents that had already been prepared) in that amount of time, and that they might be able to get one ready by Monday. After paying almost $300 for the preparation of a relatively simple tax return I've been left with no copy of the return, no confirmation that the IRS received it (let alone accepted it) and no fixed time for when they will have a copy ready for us. Stay away from this place at all costs if you care about good record keeping, customer service or fiduciary responsibility.
