My son went on an "Island of the Blue Dolphins" long-weekend trip to Santa Cruz Island created by Cindy. She customized this trip specifically for this age group to learn, hands on, about the actual woman (known as Karana) who was left on San Nicholas island alone for 18 years. On this camping adventure, our kids learned about the Channel Islands history (and the native inhabitants) as well as the history of "the Lone Woman of San Nicholas Island", the local flora and fauna, snorkeling, astronomy, team building and LOTS of outdoor play. She even set up a day trip prior to this to Santa Barbara Mission and Natural History Museum so that the students could have an even more solid base on which to learn on this trip. Because of Cindy, our Mission docent customized her tour, gearing it just for this purpose. My son, who was initially hesitant to go on this trip, came home bursting with enthusiasm and stories of what he said, was pretty much the best time he's ever had! WOW! I was the lucky administrator who got to make decisions about the Washington DC trip for our students and families. I talked with numerous travel companies before talking with Cindy at Simply Culture Boutique Travel. Cindy's price was significantly better and included much more for our money. We were able take the excursions that added to the cost of other trips because of Cindy's work so we got to stay for seven days rather than five. Once on the trip, Cindy worked very well with our school to tailor our trip to what we have been learning as a school. The name of her business "culture" and "boutique" actually mean something. She helped our students understand the U.S. cultural experience, and the trip was fitted to our school much like an expensive boutique tailors its close to fit. Having travelled previously with other tour companies, I have been frustrated with how many end up wasting our time dropping us in cheap gift shops. There was none of that on this trip. I felt that Cindy was looking out for our best interest, not the interest of the tour company. She had thought out our trip ahead of time to make the most of our experience. Cindy coordinates a school trip to England, France, Italy and Greece. Initially impressed with a tactic list of trip items to pack it became evident she is ever the planner. Even when thrown the uncertainties travel posses such as a cancelled overnight train to Florence she delivers. Having food intolerances and primarily eating vegetarian worried me but she accommodates her travelers. I always had something worth eating. Given my peculiar ways this is another testament to her attention to detail and willingness to provide an experience to remember. Our trip was brimming over with must see bucket lists. Yet, I especially enjoyed her immersion into a country's culture with a medieval feast and stay at St. Briavel's Castle, hiking through an olive grove and later making our own bread and pasta in Tuscany, and topping it off with plate smashing and Greek style dancing at a hill top restaurant overlooking Athens. She takes the majority of travel burdens off the table leaving you with the joys of discovery. She irrefutably is passionate and knowledgeable about where she travels. Cindy Hilton is an excellent organizer of action-packed and educational trips. I am so excited to have been a part of her trip for Island of the Blue Dolphins Camp on Santa Cruz Island. She brought in a great amount of history of the Chumash people and other native tribes, plus biology and astronomy for us all to work on in our Island Journals, which Cindy created from scratch. She plans a variety of activities and adventures that make the trips unforgettable. We also got to snorkel, hike, play new games, and share the chores of camp life for four days. Cindy works tirelessly to iron out the wrinkles. I have been on a few other field trips that she planned, and I was impressed by the fun and educational (Ancient Egypt-related) activities she had planned even for the bus ride to the Egyptian Museum. Fantastic Washington DC school trip. Excellent information and learning experiences in a fun, well organized, safe and well controlled / guided program. Double Decker bus with sun roof and huge windows made the travel that much better. Wife had gone on a previous DC trip and was jealous of how much more we were able to experience with less stress. Comes highly recommended with age appropriate guided group experiences for kids from 1st graders up through high school. read more
