Although this time, instead of fish and chips, we opted to share the tomahawk steak dinner special with tapas starters. Oh man, two of my most favouritest meal varieties in all the world, combined into one utterly decadent dinner treat for the senses! Between three adults and one child, we plowed through the delish tapas treats and the perfectly cooked steak with aplomb. Service was outstanding. Friendly, not too OTT, timely, discreet and open to questions/providing suggestions. By the end of the meal, I was well-fed, laughing heartily, wine-soaked like an upper-class pirate, and just about ready for a dip in the sea! Anyway, unlike some of the other pubs that we visited this one is just your stock standard country pub with your stock standard beers on tap - nothing really all that fancy in style or substance. I guess that may have something to do with Goolwa not drawing anywhere near as many tourists as some of the other towns along the south coast. As for the pub, well, as I mentioned, it wasn't anything special, just a stock standard country pub, though you don't tend to feel as out of place as you would at other places (and the bar tender is nowhere near as talkative).

I ordered Boston Bay Mussels with Tomato, Bacon and Chilli and I was truly surprised by the size of the crock pot with no less the 47 Mussels cooked to perfection(yes I counted them), my taste buds exploded with the combination of flavours that this meal contained. These Mussels are definitely on my list for the next time I return to the Corio. My wife Decided on the Lamb Shanks on a bed of Creamed mash potato, fortunately she decided to just have just the single serve (Entree size) for the meal was more the enough to fill one's hungry stomach. Again cooked to perfection. The 3 Children (Adults ) thought they would each have a schnitzel, which were so large they covered the plates and each one of them could not finish. All in all a great meal was had by all, the only fault that I could find was the variety in the salad and veggie bar, which was average, But this did not take anything away from our meals, of course it was a bit noisy in the dining room, but It was a Pub on a Saturday night! No charge for soy milk. What? And they don't use So Good. They use Silk, the choice of Bar 9, Pollen, et al. I ordered the Eggs Benny. Nicely poached eggs, sautéed spinach, and ham, on sourdough. The hollandaise didn't taste house made but was zesty enough. Often when travelling to regional places you end up sampling food that tries to emulate that of the city, without quite getting there. Bavaria, while nothing groundbreaking, does a decent breakfast and a decent coffee, and sure pleased this city slicker.

The fridge is not working so well, doesn't seem to chill very well and there was a note on it asking guests not to turn the temperature lower.
