Blues Boulevard is located right by the river, next to the Embassy Suites and Ruth's Chris. We visited on Saturday mainly to catch the JAVA Band from Charlotte. The venue itself is small and charming, just what you'd expect from a jazz spot. The menu is somewhat limited, and the online version is not current. You can expect items like burgers, fried shrimp, flounder bites, glazed salmon, and various salads. However, the dishes we tried were just average. Our server, Coco, provided good service! Seating can be cramped, especially on busy nights, so be prepared for limited space. The JAVA Band was fantastic! They performed the hits for about two hours, and I highly recommend seeing them if you get the chance! Such a nice and inviting ambience. I could hear the music from the stairs. It was sorta hard to locate once I parked but I was sooo ready for the live music. The bartender was so nice and personable. We were there to celebrate my co-workers birthday. The food was great and it was just enough food where I wasn't full but it was filling. The band was awesome! Small place so make sure to buy tickets online and arrive early to get a good seat. A little close for comfort as you are probably only a foot away from the next table but. Also kitchen must be small and not good venting system because when we left we smelled like a straight fryer didn't mind cause just went home and showered. The smell even burned mine and my aunts eyes while we were there. They may need to get the ventilation system checked in kitchen or put doors on kitchen so it's not so bad. I know many other people have left raving 5 star reviews on this place, so to be fair if it wasn't for the major greasy fried food smell, I would have given a better review. The one star is for the great staff, good cocktails & live music (if you enjoy jazz). The problem is that the moment you walk in here, the heavy & dense greasy fried food air hits you like a wall. The longer the group I was with and I sat in there, the more nauseous I felt. Full disclosure I do have a very keen sense of smell so I have very little tolerance for sitting in the equivalent of the kitchen of a fried chicken restaurant. The next morning as soon as I smelled my clothes I could tell that my nose hadn't lied to me. Everything I wore had to be sent to the cleaners just to be able to pack it in my luggage. Recommendation to the establishment; fix your air ventilation/filtration and kitchen air hood situation so it sucks out the frying grease asap. People will sit there longer and spend more $ if they can breath cleaner oxygen. read more

This was our first time visiting this venue! We've been looking for a jazz spot since we came here, and wow, we weren't disappointed!! We really enjoyed the lay low, kick back and ambient atmosphere! Been looking forward to visiting for several months. We live about 90-minutes away, so we made a special trip to Greenville. The atmosphere is nice. Smaller venue, tables crammed together. If you haven't been vaccinated for COVID-19, you may want to wait to go. The music was great. Though the calendar says it began at 7:30 pm, it was closer to 8:20 pm before the first note was played. While we enjoyed the music videos, we scheduled our arrival based on the calendar. The cocktail menu is pretty good. Slightly modified versions of some traditional recipes. Food menu very limited. It's nice to have some options, but don't expect to have dinner here. Once they got busier the service got really slow. Took about an hour to get our food, the vegetables seemed freezer burned. The wings were really good. Their web-site shows some expansion in the future. Will be looking for the Charlotte, NC to open. read more

I have never been to a place where I felt like running outside and telling people how much they were missing! I was in Greenville flying solo, and looking around for a little live entertainment. Blues Boulevard popped up, and it said that they had Jorge Garcia on tap for Wednesday evening. It is right next to the Hampton Inn on the river... and when I arrived I thought "this must be a mistake... there is no one here". Sure enough, about 10 more people walk in, and then I see Jorge and the owner (Gerald Smith) up on stage lining up their equipment. Next thing you know, they are up there jamming. They asked the (very small) audience for submissions, and remarkably they knew every song! Gerald Smith also rocks it as the drummer. These guys are great musicians, and the atmosphere was awesome. I just wonder how come more people in Greenville weren't there. They are missing an incredible show!! To be fair, I can't comment on the food... but beware of Josh the waiter. Been here several times. Loved both Jazzsmith (The owners band) and H Wade Johnson ( Killer horn player) We took groups in 2 of the times They accommodated us with big tables. The weekday acts Scott Galloway and Jorge Garcia are not as high energy- but also very enjoyable- ESPECIALLY when considerinng what your other options in Greenville are. The room is posh/chic looking, seating is comfortable, and they don't allow drunks acting out and infringing on everyone else's good time. This is not a drunken free for all like Smileys and some of the other places. it's very comfortable, clean and smells fresh. ( Can't believe I had to say that- but I have been to some places and the bathroom urinals seem to permeate the place) Blues Blvd is CLEAN! I have sat in the back and along the walls- the sound is great anywhere in the room. Food is limited but decent( Heavy on the fried stuff- but most bars are. Chicken salad is a good lighter option with fruit, crackers etc) Cocktail menu is pretty standard with a few twists. Wine list is modest but Gerald has a nice selection ranging from some decent Reds for the wine afficianos to sweeter options for those who drink to "be social. Pricing is affordable for both fod and drinks, and so are the covers.Though you do need to note- there is a COVER plus you are expeted to purchase at least $10 worth of food or drinks) These establishments are all struggling to stay alive and the owner is busting his ass to make this club work. It's not asking alot to request the cover( for the music) and such a small food/bev purchase to keep the restaurant going. If this is too expensive for you- I sugggest you rent a redbox for 3 bucks get a bottle of two buck chuck and stay home If you're looking for a live music experience- I'd highly recommend. But you most likely WON'T hear "Blues" as the name suggests. The music varies- You'll hear more of a smooth jazz fomat( jazz /R&B/Soul) than "Traditional bop, straight ahead, or standards" - but that is also because Greenville will patronize this kind of format better. Greenville isn't exactly a mecca of sohisticated musical taste. But Blues Boulevard gives the upstate their best shot! You'll hear everything from "Girl from Ipanema" and "God Bless the Child" To "Easy ( by the commodores), Ascension( Don't ever Wonder) by Maxwell to Can't Hide Love ( Earth Wind & Fire). We had a group of 12 when H Wade Johnson busted out with that one. 3 of us were professional singers..and we were all singing the harmonies at the top of our lungs ( which is a lotta lung power) and having the time of our lives! I will say they are rarely punctual with the start times-- you have a better chance of an on time start on the weekdays- but on the weekends- they're usually 30 to 45 min behind what the listed start it. So if you're planning multiple stops- you might want to save this one for the last one and catch the second show rather then the first one :) On weekends, the seating is crowded so if you're one of those people who thins there is a covid germ with your name waiting on every surface- this might not be the place for you. But if you like the feeling of beingn in the middle of party- you'll love it! ALso remember EVERYONE is having trouble getting help! The wait staff is busting their hineys! They are polite and friendly- but cut the some slack. There are only 2 or 3 people keeping 75 or 80 people happy. Don't wait until your drink is GONE to order a new one. I usually tell them to bring me 2 or whatever I am drinking from the start and I'm good to go for a show :) read more

I forget the name of the band but they played hits by Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder and others. I enjoyed the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and it was cooked perfectly. The absolute WORST part of the weekend. My best friend and I purchased tickets to the 10:00pm show. We arrived at 9:20pm and the early show was still going. The show stopped around 9:45pm and we were informed shortly after that guests decided to stay for the late show and that we had to sit in the back because those were the only vacant seats left. I asked to speak to the manager who thought it was a joke and started the conversation with, "I heard you wanted to leave because you can't get the seat you wanted. I corrected that statement and explained the full scenario. He then goes on stage to announce that a couple who purchased tickets for the late show is at the door and is upset about sitting in the back. He Asked for people to make room for us. I thought that was very rude because he could have just asked without making a full scene since I didn't make a scene when I addressed the issue to him. We left money was wasted and experienced no live jazz. It might seem petty but I feel that sometimes establishments choose money over integrity. The situation was it was two big parties that stayed who didn't have to purchase tickets for the late show because they had a running tab with food and DRINKS. Disregarding others that had already purchased tickets for a decent seat and experience. I will not be returning to the establishment. I know my little money doesn't move them either way but I felt the need to share my experience. read more

We were excited to learn they were open again . We waited for at least 15 min before hubby asked the hostess if we had a server. The drinks were just meh. Blues Boulevard Jazz is on it's way to being a great little club. We were there for the 8pm show on Friday. They kept one of the patio doors open so people could sit outside and listen. Unfortunately that made the inside swelteringly hot. I'm not sure if this was on purpose (like the classic image of a jazz club, where everyone is drinking, sweating and listening to great music), but it was just too hot. We finally took our drinks outside, which was much more comfortable...although I will agree about the occasional sewer smell. The waitress said that it was the first night for a new chef. There was one item that she recommended NOT getting...saying "they should take that off the menu". The items we did get were ok, all off the tapas menu. Since there is a new chef, I will hold off on food judgement. All that said, the music was fun, the staff was friendly, and we had a good time. read more

Went here after the John Legend concert at the Peace Center, because the front desk clerk at the Hampton Inn & Suites gave us a coupon for a free glass of house wine, and we figured it'd be a good place for music lovers after the concert. Maybe John Legend might even drop in! Well, he didnt, but we did have a good time. The jazz trio that night was from Atlanta, and they were very good. The house wine not so much, so we bought a nice glass of wine. That and the $5 cover are the reasons I can't give that 5th star.
