Beautiful marina, they are great in storing your boat as well as taking the boat out to place on river!

Cape Crossing Resort & Marina - Night view of vessel

Cape Crossing Resort & Marina

We booked this 3 bedroom condo for the night before a cruise, it was very much nicer than any of…read morethe hotels we had stayed in on previous cruises!! The check in went smoothly, and we got the key cards in a very short time. Parking was tight. We drive a truck, and there was NOT a lot of space to pull into the assigned spot. The curbs between the two driveways are not tire friendly!! I think we could have parked down by the marina, but we managed to make it work. A smaller vehicle could have pulled into the garage, but the truck was just too tall. The garage opener by the inside door opened it smoothly, and you could close it from outside the garage. We did NOT get to use the pool and hot tub, but it was beautiful!! We did have a disabled person with us, and truthfully did not realize the bedrooms were all on the second floor, so he slept on the sofa. He said it was NOT comfy, probably because it was a sleeper sofa. Again, it did say the bedrooms were on the second floor, so that is on me for not reading that detail. The kitchen was well stocked, with a one small pack of coffee to get us by. We decided to get more coffee and creamer Saturday night so that everyone could have a cup on Sunday morning. There were coffee filters provided. The refrigerator made funky noises all night long, according to the sofa dweller. We did hear some road noise until about 10:30 p.m. The fan in the master bedroom was not balanced, and when turned on high made a terrible noise. The beds upstairs consisted of a king in master, a queen in one room and a pair of twin beds in the other bedroom. The bathrooms were nice, and had adequate towels provided. There was no network nor television available, and of course we didn't notice until the office was closed. That being said, we were tired, and just crashed anyway, so that was not much of an issue. We were not given a WiFi password at check in. The condo was very clean and well decorated. All the above being said, we would stay here again pre-cruise, if we were not traveling with a disabled family member. It is hands down nicer than some of the hotels in the area, and with rooms for up to 6, it is worth it.

I always wanted to stay on a boat (smaller than a ship), a bucket list item. They come up on searches and many look suspiciously dirty. The the Shangrila came up on my search and I said why not. It was the cheapest and surely not the most expensive. But, we were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations and the cleanliness. It was ready for everything fully stocked in the kitchen including a dishwasher. Kudos whoever choose the bedding. What a great nights sleep!! What kind of pillows are on the bed!!!! (Forgot to look). Convenient restaurant with amazing key lime pie! Only feedback is there was a problem with our third party booking site getting the information to us the check-in, as there is no one there. Easy call to the staff taken care of in less than 5 minutes. Remove dead plants, also, people sailing through don't always follow "no wake" rules!! Only in the day did we experience that and not that often. This is a new favorite thing to do!!! We plan on returning!

If it is just getting away with my wife for a few hours or taking the family or taking some friends out, it has made for great memories. It is perfect for someone like me who can fit it in our monthly budget and can get out a few times a month and does not need to maintain it and can just show up. I think the people that hear about Freedom and then take the leap to join it and to use it are the ones that are the biggest advocates. They treat their employees well and run a very good business model that serves those that use it. Super grateful.

Unfortunately, we were not told that we had to have lock training to boat to the intercoastal waterway or we would have arrived earlier to receive the approximately one hour training. This area is much calmer waters and there are islands to boat to. We could only boat in the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the boats that Freedom has are not really ideal for this type of choppy water. I don't even think we could have fished off the boat unfortunately. It ended up being a decent day but if you go out of this marina (Cape Marina) get the boat training first or brave the Atlantic Ocean!!!

We saw it all, alligators, manatees, dolphins with their babies!! Every bird you can imagine, turtles, snakes just everything out there. We also got some great views of some incredible homes and local architecture along the water which was really neat. Our captains Andrew and Pat were very knowledgeable and professional! We learned so much. The real highlight of the day was that as we were due to dock Andrew let us know that there was about to be a spaceX launch and if everyone agreed we could extend the ride a bit so we could all watch it. To our delight everyone did. My husband came down here 30 years ago at the age of 10 to see a launch that ended up getting scrubbed so for him to see his first ever real launch on our 19th anniversary was pure magic! It brought tears to both our eyes and I will forever be grateful to them for giving us that experience. Fantastic memories made and worth every penny and more! Also want to note that the boats bathroom was very clean and easy to use. They provided beverages both adult and regular refreshments. The shade kept us pretty cool but I do recommend bringing "chilly towels" and a hand fan if it's over 90 degrees. We will absolutely be returning with our kiddos on our next trip to take them as well.
