BlueFire is an excellent wilderness therapy program. Anyone considering wilderness therapy should get thoroughly educated about it -- what it is, how it works, what the goals are, and what the different types of programs are. There has to be a good fit between the program and your child/family. Parents/guardians need to get informed and be realistic about what to expect and the role they themselves play in the process. The outcome is not solely determined by the quality of the program -- the family has to do its part too. Regarding BlueFire specifically, the therapists, field instructors, and staff (including those that lead equine therapy, yoga/mindfulness, etc.) are wonderful -- experienced, knowledgeable, competent, and caring. We don't have a single complaint about any of the staff (and I am a tough grader). The therapists are EXCELLENT. This program has been around quite a while, and they know what they're doing. Our family was really struggling before this experience, and now we have so much hope. It takes a lot of hard work and commitment from the whole family to turn things around, but it also requires the guidance of experienced therapists like those at BlueFire. And it's really interesting how the wilderness setting itself provides the environment needed to allow healing and self-awareness to begin. Good to luck to you, I wish you well! read more
