While on a family trip to Lutsen we decided to order take out. We chose Bluefin because the pictures of the food looked like what we get at home in Mpls. The food did not disappoint - had the walleye, a few burgers, and the tripleta sandwich. The only reason for 4 starts instead of 5 was the added wait for the food - and additional 20 min. First tried the Meatball sandwich with rasberry sauce. The best part of the sandwich was the bread, which implies something about the home made meat balls, which have a really peculiar taste. I think part of the problem here are the review forms the nice waitresses hand out to the customers. After filling them out, the patrons must hand these reviews back to the waitress, and who has the heart to tell these nice girls the food is lame? I can tell the staff cares and puts in some effort, but their food needs some inspiration. I tried at least 3 different dishes here and was unimpressed by all of them. They do offer a bacon cheeseburger though as insurance, which is hard to mess up and looked ok. read more

We ordered the bacon cheese burger and a cup of duck chowder. The bun was fresh. The bacon was thick with a smokey flavor. The patty had a grilled outdoor flavor and it was cooked to the correct temperature. Nice work. I never thought duck would work in a chowder but it made the texture very silky-smooth. We enjoyed dinner next to a window overlooking Lake Superior. It was a gorgeous view. My husband said the steak was one of the best he has ever had. I felt the same about the walleye and wild rice dinner and the kids were raving about their crispy chicken sandwiches. The cheese curds are to-die-for! They're like the ones at the state fair. One of the rules I live by in life, is that when you're on vacation, you can eat whatever you want, whenever you want. Which means that if I'm going to pack in a full day doing a 12-mile hike on the Superior Hiking Trail, I'm going to take full advantage of this rule and stock up on something delicious and satisfying. The Bluefin Bay Resort's on-site restaurant is a top notch location for just such an activity. We had stuffed French Toast made with cinnamon raisin bread lovingly cradling blackberry cream cheese, and an omelet with local turkey and loaded with veggies. A lot of their menu items feature other local specialties like sausages and wild rice. Fresh, comfortable dining room overlooking the beach. Softly flavored coffee tops it all off and gets your day rolling. read more

This is a 4.5 out of 5 star restaurant. I just can't go the full 5/5 stars. They had a very nice presentation. The service was great and friendly. We did some of the spinach and artichoke dip at the bar. It was good. They had a nice beer selection. We split the duck. It too was very good but it was served medium. Perhaps this is the "best" way to have it but no how I prefer it. In the future I'll order it done. read more

My friend and I dined there on a Sunday night. The ambiance is nice and over looks the lake. However, if you are wanting descent fish and chips then go somewhere else. The portion size is laughable! It looks like 5 thumb sized chicken nuggets. My burger was good. We stayed at Bluefin for the weekend, the first morning went to breakfast view was wonderful, took awhile to be seated. Once seated at a booth that was dirty crumbs all over the seat and salt on the table, I had to brush crumbs off before I sat down. The waiter was wonderful that is way I gave it three stars. The food that morning was on point. I had the egg benedict and he got the wild rice omelette. Both very good. We returned that evening for dinner another long wait to be seated but had a very nice table, ordered our drinks the waitress was great, friendly. We ordered our food it took well over 1/2 hour you get bread with your meal, but didn't get that till 5 min before the food, the filet Mignon was so bland no flavor at all but cooked right, the scallops where great tasting but very small for what you paid for the sauce was to die for, we ended up putting that sauce on everything my mignon the potatoes which had no sauce or flavor either. The asparagus and broccoli with our meals should have never been served to us the asparagus was so over done it was mush, the broccoli had brown spots on it ans tasted bad. We should have sent everything back but we are not ones to complain. We ordered the 4 tiger shrimp for $11.00 Wow was I shocked to see how small they where, and looking at the tail they where not Tiger shrimp. Over all if it was not for the servers being so nice they would get 1 stars for dinner. So Sunday morning we decided to go to brunch at Surfside we got there at 8:30 they open at 8:00 we where shocked again to see a very small buffet, but not a very small price they charge $15.00 for this so call it buffet. We paid got our food and she could not give us change because so had not counted her till yet it was still in the bank bag, So we told her to keep the change. We sat down to realize we have no silverware so walked up to get some in which there where others looking for the same thing, girl was no where to be seen. She showed up help the man before me with his silverware which she went to the back for, and only got enough for his table, so she had to go back in the kitchen to get ours. By the time I got back to our table my food was cold. We got our own drinks, choice was coffee or water, no juice,no tea. I have never been to a buffet that did not give you juice choice for that price. This place has upped their game in recent years. They have a robust menu and everything I've tried there is good. I especially enjoyed my burger. It was clearly prepared fresh and properly cooked. Loved the fries. They have a cozy dining room and bar with gorgeous lake views. I've spent several evenings watching the big game in the bar area. They only have one screen so you might want to call ahead to make sure they'll be showing your game. They have a full bar with about a dozen taps and an adequate bottled beer selection. read more

Maybe NO!!! Hardly anyone there. Walked in the door at noon and asked to be seated outside. That part was fine. We were seated, given menus and water and told that our server would be right with us. We sat and waited and waited. Finally two other people were seated outside and the server came right out to wait on them. Stopped in here for dinner on the first night of our trip. The food was a little pricey, but quite good. The night that we went the restaurant was quite packed, and I'm surprised we didn't have to wait for a table, though people shortly after us did. My wife and I decided to splurge that night, and went for some more expensive fare than normal. I had the full rack of ribs, and she had the pot roast. Both meals were very large, and quite filling. Her roast was 16 oz, and almost more than she could eat. My ribs were very tender, and came right off of the bone. All told we spent more than $70 with tip, and we both drank water. read more

We are staying in Tofte for vacation and have eaten at Bluefin Grille several times as well as ordered carry out. Every meal has been extraordinary and the level of service outstanding. The steaks are incredible and the sandwiches we tried were very tasty. The cookie dessert was super yummy. If you are able, sit upstairs overlooking the lake. Decided to swing in for brunch on the 4th. Amazing service, delicious food and decent prices. Our waitress Adnana was phenomenal, extremely polite, and attentive to our needs. The food was beyond amazing. I ordered the egg plate with sausage and an English muffin. The sausage was not the normally proccessed breakfast sausage you get in most breakfast restaurants, instead it was real delicious sausage. The English muffin was served with delightful homemade Jam, and the coffee had a bold Rich taste. The prices were not ridiculously high. Visited this restaurant on a rainy Friday night. They close early (9 pm) but we had no problem getting a table at 7:30 after a 10 minute wait. Service is slow but we weren't in a rush. The warm sour dough bread served at the table is delicious. I had the beet salad and trout for dinner. Salad was delicious with the beets hidden at the bottom and goat cheese sprinkled around. Trout was delicious. Would've been nice to have a smaller side salad available so I wouldn't have been so full. My husband enjoyed his chicken caesar. The food here in mostly below average bar food. But they charge you as if you were at a 5 star restruant. We got 2 burgers which were just frozen block patties from sysco, cooked and put on a bun with fries. Also 2 kids meals and a beer which ran 80$. Came back another night because we were tired and nothing else around got similar food for 90$. The food should be much better for what you pay or the prices should be much, much lower. Bring your own food and grill it will be much better or drive to 2 harbors or gran marais. read more

We stayed at the bluefin resort for two nights and had dinner here our first night. Ambiance was decent, the Minnesota nice tea was strong yet tasty, the beer sampler was great. The scallop/pork belly/polenta appetizer was AMAZING! Perfectly cooked. The wild rice soup was also delicious. What was not great was that we ordered the ribeye and she brought us the prime rib. My husband is ok with prime rib, but I hate it. She offered to change it, but VERY halfheartedly, and so we felt obligated to eat the entree we did not really want. We had the creme brûlée dessert which was also quite nice. Nothing was comped on the bill, despite the serious mistake, and we got charged extra for bread (because we shared an entree, though we had two appetizers, two drinks and dessert, all of which completely covered the cost of another entree). We aren't cheap, we just can't eat that much, especially on vacation, when we can't keep leftovers for days on end, and we would rather try more things. There aren't many options here in Tofte my family and I decided to give this a try instead of going back to Cascade. We were the only people waiting to be seated and had to wait for 7ish minutes before someone approached us. Our waitress told us about the one special that they had. To quote her, "It's Beef Wellington from last night. You can only get it medium. We are really trying to push it. " We didn't get the leftover special even though it was offered at discount of $36. instead of the $38 they sold it for the night before. Our food came out in stages, with my husband's being the last meal brought out 5 minutes after everyone else. Watters remained unfilled. I ordered the Mocha Chicken Wrap and found a bone in it. The waitress started that, "Oh, that's a new one. I've never seen that before." A witch apology and it wasn't spoken of again. They did discount my meal $3. First time ever in the north shore. This place is one of few options within a 20+ minute drive if the resorts around Tofte. The restaurant is a classy white table cloths kind of establishment that is on the blue fin resort property. The service and food are excellent. We had the shrimp gnocchi and the duck. Both were worth getting again. Server kept our drinks full throughout the meal. She was very pleasant. My only complaint is the price gouging. The entire area not just this restaurant charges an arm and a leg for food. Expect to pay $22-35 per meal here and not much less anywhere else either. If you don't mind paying a lot for a good meal eat here it's the best in the area. read more

Excellent appetizers and entrees. We had a killer app with pork belly and scallops. The quinoa salad is so flavorful and satisfying. Burgers are amazing...I could go on but won't.
