They were literally like four blocks from the ship port for Norwegian, but there is another port further down. That might be a 10 minute drive. We stayed at the Iberostar, which is not a dive resort, rather it is a resort which offers diving (what I mean by that is that the resort is not geared towards divers, there are no hooks or hangers to dry gear on your balcony, the restaurants allow people in bathing suits but not folded down wetsuits, there is no individual gear storage other than a small cubby and no provided locks). Anyway, on to the diving. Booking was very easy, I worked with a gal (who happened to be stationed in Spain) who helped me set up a package of dives, cenote excursions, and night dives. So everything was paid for when we arrived. Pros: - Almost all of the dive masters were awesome. Ricky was fantastic and so was Tania. We were always happy when we saw Ricky was our DM. He was the right amount of chill, knowledge, safety, and fun. -The dives were really fantastic. We only repeated one dive in 6 days of diving. - Water and fruit were available on the boat. -My husbands inflator hose malfunctioned and a guy in the dive shop fixed it for him with a spare part he had so my husband could use his equipment until we got home and get it serviced. -The boat staff were all very competent and helpful. -Free nitrox with your package. -Plentiful defogger on board -Short boat rides to amazing dive sites. Cons: - Before booking I asked if they had gear lockers. I hate toting all of our gear back and forth to a hotel room. I was told yes. When we arrived, we saw that there were not individual gear lockers, rather, small individual cubbies that would fit a few things but there were no locks. In additional, several of the cubbies didn't have chains on them to hold them secure even if you did have a lock. I asked if they had locks and they said they didn't. This meant we had to lug our gear back and forth to our hotel room and the dock, which sucked as the resort is expansive. I noticed not many people left there gear there. A few people hung up older wetsuits but I didnt see many BCDS in the room. - The gal checking us in was very aloof and not real friendly. I don't need butt kissing but she acted put out to be helping us and answering questions. - We didn't know where we were diving until we left on the boat. Even though they have a calendar of dives, they did not follow it (which I do understand if there are current or changing conditions, but everything seemed chill and there were no weather related issues). We were fine with the dives but if someone wanted to do a particular dive they might be disappointed with the scheduling. - The boats get crowded and more than once our tanks were not full and we had to swap them out for full tanks. One time it was 7 divers who were short on air in their tanks and several of us had to swap tanks 2-3 times. - They only book 2 tank dive packages so if you want to to break up your day of diving and don't want to do back to back dives, they charge you 10.00 per tank to break it up. We came to dive and dive we did, but if you are a diver who just likes one or two and have a big surface interval this system may not be the best for you. - On our last two dives we were placed in a group of brand new open water divers. I get it, we have all been there, but our dives were cut very short because of it (one dive ended at 39 minutes) which really sucked. The dm apologized to us privately but we weren't offered any discount or another dive to make up for it. -There is no retail dive shop to speak of, as far as gear to buy or incidentals you may need. No tshirts or any of the usual dive gear stuff us divers love to buy.

We were there during Hurricane Beryl so we almost didn't get to dive, but we were able to get an instructional beach dive in before the hurricane hit. And luckily Hurricane Beryl passed by the island relatively quickly so that only a day after the hurricane hit, the harbor master was allowing boats back into the water. We had 2 instructors for the 4 of us. Alfonso worked with the boys, and Kris worked with my partner and me. Both guys were amazingly patient, kind, and even very funny! I had a moment during the 1st open water dive where I started to feel scared, but Kris helped me to calm down and continue with the dive. And then during our 2nd dive (down to 50 ft), we saw manta ray, barracuda, and even a nurse shark. It was everything we could have wished for. Learning to scuba dive has been a lifelong dream of mine, and diving in Cozumel is indescribably beautiful. I felt like I was in an aquarium, there was so much life everywhere. We are going to use our 2 open water dives we did with Scuba Du towards our instruction for full scuba certification. We will 100% go back to Cozumel to dive again, and we will absolutely dive with the great people at Scuba Du when we return! Thanks for everything, Alfonso and Kris! They arranged a refresher course and a discover Scuba lesson for my son so we could dive together and then a 2 tank dive at two coral reef locations. They were able to look me up in the computer and found my certification online and got me signed up right away so we were in the water the very next day. They lent us all equipment needed and the instruction was thorough and the instructor was kind and helped my son who was a first time scuba diver. It was a proud father son moment watching my boy check one off the bucket list to scuba dive for the first time and we got to scuba side by side. This is a solid dive center and the prices are reasonable. Can't get better than this in terms of location and convenience. 5 stars and a muchas gracias to the staff, instructor and crew.

After 25 years of diving mostly in Cozumel, and filtering through many dive operators, we can't imagine a better boat and crew then Cristina!! Whats really the difference, aren't they all basically the same? Not even close. Here's my comparison. Dive with Cristina- Super friendly dive masters Javier, Fernando, Cristina that really go in depth from first time divers to advanced. And work to find special species such as Splendid Toadfish. Very small groups always, with a dive master at back of group. Most compfortable boat ever, shaded, bathroom. Excellent lunch between dives. pickups at various spots along the southern part of island. Giant stride in. they pull your tank and bcd out for you at end of dive. Small Fast Boats comparison- fast bumpy ride. No bathroom, No lunch, No movement around boat, have to climb back on boat with tank. Too crowded Big Fast Boat- Cattle call of over crowded divers. Way to many divers per divemaster. Not as much personal connection. We laugh thinking of the dives of our past operators. Who were frequently dangerous too, bringing very in experienced divers way too deep. Trust us we'll never go back to the old days before Cristina!

Pro Dive Mexico is only one of two dive centers listed on the PADI site for Cozumel so my husband &…read moreI booked them on a recent trip -- he dove and I snorkeled. Although we stayed in Playa del Carmen, we took the ferry over and rented a car to explore the island prior to our 1pm dive. We were told to come to their shop at the Allegro Cozumel resort before noon; fortunately I had figured out "Mexico time" and arrived at 12.20p which was more than enough time to find the shop, fill out paperwork and get our equipment. Our dive to Palacar Reef Gardens / Columbia Shallows was scheduled from 1-4pm which I thought was a bit strange since other dive shops advertised a 2 hr window, but the reason became apparent when our small dive boat stopped at the Occidental Cozumel to take on even more divers and became quite crowded. Then on the way to the 1st site (only a 15 minute ride from shore) our boat broke down. Fortunately the staff was able to get the boat fixed but it meant a change of plans and we ended up going to Dalila (closer) instead of Columbia Shallows. For the dive/snorkel sites themselves: there were a LOT of fish and we also saw a majestic spotted eagle ray and a couple of turtles. However they're better for diving than snokeling as the reefs are over 20 meters from the surface; as a snorkeler I could see lots of cool fish but they were tiny and far away. The reason we give this dive shop 3* instead of a higher rating: * Small overcrowded boat * Having to make another stop to pick up more divers, wasting our valuable vacation time * After I booked, I mentioned my husband last dove 2 years ago. Then they insisted on his taking a $50 refresher course in the pool that AM -- they never mentioned this on their site, and this is silly considering it was only 2 years ago and all the refresher could be done in 10 minutes on the boat ride. Fortunately we ended up diving at MUSA off Isla Mujeres 3 days earlier so it was waived, but I didn't like how this wasn't mentioned at all until a couple days prior to our dive, and 2 years seemed a bit too short of a time. * More expensive than other dive shops in Cozumel. We thought this would be okay with a higher level of service, but that wasn't the case On the plus side, they have showers to rinse off after the dive, plus they were relatively quick to respond to emails. Overall, they would be a good option if you're staying at the Allegro or Occidental in Cozumel, but if not, the other Cozumel dive shops are likely a better choice.

I see some…read moreother reviews that mention that the boats at Allegro pick up passengers from another hotel, however the other dock is near by and costs very little in time. The boat can feel a bit cramped with other divers, however the boat rides are short from the south shore, less than 15-20 minutes, so not too much trouble to pick up others and head to the dive site. Beautiful dive sites each day with Martin and Mario dive guides, as well as all the on shore staff at Allegro. Top Notch. The highlight of our trip was a trip to Cenotes. Alan, our dive master was a true Gem. This was an additional side trip that we paid for as an extra and it was worth it. We had an easy time traveling to Playa del Carmen, and were met by Alan promptly at the appointed spot. Alan guided us through the Cenotes with absolute expertise. He was so knowledgeable about the culture, geography, and history, and is clearly a master of his trade. I can not say enough about Alan and Pro Dive International, the dive company that operated that tour that was booked through the Allegro Dive company. Great vacation at Allegro!
