Michael really seemed to CARE about us as individuals and about the success of our marriage. Neither of us felt judged, or mislead for any period of time. We actually both felt positive changes immediately after our first visit! He keeps in touch via text, and seems to be available to work around schedules. He also accepts payment via Venmo, which is always convenient. After an alarming amount of progress, we have ended our regular visits. We will keep him close for "marriage tune-ups" as needed. Our entire experience with Michael has been fantastic! If you feel pulled to work with Michael, it is definitely worth the time and money to make contact! Good luck :)

After realizing the damage he was causing, we went to seek another counselor and though she was good at her job, my husband could not utilize her help because of the damage and distrust Michael's therapy did to him. Be careful and take the blinders off when seeking professional help. There are wolves disguised in sheep clothing out there. God Bless you all.

I was seen by a PA who wanted to take me off my current meds which weren't even at a therapeutic dose and place me on an expensive med. there Are 3 tiers of caplyta, 10, 21 and 42 mg. I was only on 200 Lamictal and 50 seroquel before attempting to change to the 21 mg Caplyta suggested by the dr. It was too strong and I should have been started on the 10mg. I stopped it and called the office and asked for the 10mg. I wasn't going to be able to make it to the office for samples so they said they would put it in the mail if they could and would let me know but no one called me to let me know and I don't check the mail regularly and because I wasn't contacted with an update the meds sat in 100 degree weather for a few days. Then I had a waste of an appointment and was told to stay on my regular meds since I'm doing ok on them and I'm like why did we bother doing the other med? could it possibly be for money? Their office gets kickbacks for prescribing the hot new meds? moving forward, my PA called me a week after the last phone appointment to check how I was doing with the increase in my regular meds and she mentioned that I had gotten Out of the hospital recently... that was 3 years ago. This office does not listen, does not communicate and prob prescribes crap for free lunches from drug reps. The Dr. is a goonish character and I don't trust anyone who offers a handshake with no follow through. I would not recommend this office.

Several years ago I went through a two year custody battle in the form of Suit Affecting Parent…read moreChild Relations (SAPCR). Was long, expensive and brutal, ending in a jury trial. Auburn was hired (or assigned) to our case as a GAL. She was excellent in this role, very diligent and detailed. Since then the other party has hired her as a court-ordered visitation monitor. She has been excellent in this role as well. We have used many visitation monitors over the years, and Another Chance 4 Change is easily the best of them. She has always been focused on the well being of my child, stepping in when necessary, taking heat from the other party, always professional. Five stars!

I wish Inwould have done research before. She made recommendations regarding my child's school and then had to later admit she never talked to, researched, or even looked at the website for the school she recommended. When confronted with the facts she had to change her recommendation. There were multiple recommendations she made that she had to try to back out of when she was confronted with facts that she should have investigated. She ignored emails, showed clear bias, and attorneys on both sides both agreed she was not responding to emails from them as well. At one point she claimed to have evidence that was impossible to have and when an email questioning this was sent to her it was ignored. Additionally she NEVER provided the report she was paid $4000 by me and I assume the same by my ex to produce after her non existent investigation. I could go on and on this is only a fraction of the problems we had, some ethical issues telling me she has no basic understanding of how to work with kids. I almost never leave reviews and when I do it is usually because the service or care is great but she should NEVER be representing the best interest of any child!! I hope the courts and lawyers pay attention to the multiple complaints and issues people bring up and prevent her from representing children anymore! Fortunately my ex and I were able to come to an acceptable agreement in mediation but I was fully prepared to show all of the issues in court should it come to that.

You don't get to pick who you see, though, and I ended up seeing her colleague, Amely Cardenas. After the consult, I immediately knew this wasn't the right practice for me. Amely was very stoic in our consult. For folks who want a therapist who comes off as unempathetic, she may be fine. I shared with her some of the reasons I was seeking mental healthcare, including some recent tragedies in my family. (Deaths, being in a shooting, etc.) Amely's response to this was the reason so many adults will not go to therapy. It was so unhelpful and tragically misplaced, I couldn't help but laugh. She sent me a document of "coping mechanisms" that included recommendations such as watching cute cat videos and to eat a little chocolate. Read the room, Amely. This is the reason people are afraid of therapy - because instead of having a human conversation with a therapist, I was met with a robot who told me to eat candy and watch YouTube. I ended up finding a therapist that treated me as a human. It was much better than this experience, which I wasn't even going to take the time to review, until I noticed they billed me and my insurance for a free consultation. Nice.

You could maybe benefit if you happen to be paired with one of the tiny percentage of therapists who have any discernible degree of competence (they do exist--my Friday group therapist was a blessing), but you'll be paying an absurd amount for treatment compared to others in the area, and their billing department will make you want to bash your head through a window. Don't trust the estimate they give you/double check with your insurance yourself before committing. if you have bipolar disorder--run. Literally no one I spoke to had any real understanding of the diagnosis and I was even given treatment recommendations that are known to cause mania. One of my individual therapy sessions consisted of the therapist ranting about how confused she was that I wasn't improving (which made me feel so great and hopeful!) My group therapist repeatedly taught concepts inaccurately. She also snapped at me for not participating in an activity that had caused me to go into a panicked/dissassociative state. Spoiler alert: no one checked in to see if I was ok or gave me any support to actually complete an activity that I found to be incredibly difficult emotionally. Just one of soooo many missed opportunities to actually work through problems. Process groups were consistently utter chaos, and when I brought up my concerns about it, I was asked why *I* hadn't spoken up and redirected the conversation. I showed up to Pathlight to be treated, not to facilitate my and my group's treatment. Every concern I had was met with "you need to advocate for yourself better," then when I did speak up, I was made to look like a crazy irate maniac. You'll have to ask for things multiple times to (possibly) get them. Asked my individual therapist for a referral 3 times before just giving up. At the end of my horrendous time there, I had a meeting with the clinical manager to address some issues. I was told I'd get to talk to my individual therapist about the issues the next day and my group therapist the next week. Never got pulled by my individual therapist the next day, and my email to the clinical manager asking if she had spoken to them never got a response. The only insightful conversation I had with my therapist was about how to define happiness/fulfillment while depressed, and I was promised an activity that explored that idea. I was later handed a printout of a children's picture book about a little girl searching for happiness and learning it was inside of her all along. I mean, come on. In my last session, my therapist even said "you can't really learn and use new skills if you're in the state you're in" -- as if I hadn't just spent 2 months of my life and thousands of dollars to learn how to use coping skills even when I'm not well. She didn't have a response when I asked her why I was in the treatment program if that's the case. It was just let down after let down, and I was always to blame. I would never go back, and never would've shown up in the first place if they had accurately estimated my total bill. So many more problems I could bring up, but all in all I was utterly disappointed by the program and had to deal with more issues than I've ever experienced in a treatment setting. Complete negligence & incompetence all around.
