I contacted this company through Yelp, but was surprised the request went to several junk hauling businesses. However, it's easy to let businesses know through Yelp you no longer need their service. Antonio from Amigos reached out right away and asked for a picture of the recliner we needed removed. The price he quoted was very reasonable and much less than another business I had contacted before his. I agreed right away and he told me the exact time he planned to be at our place for pick up. Antonio even gave me a heads up that he was in 1604 traffic (understandable), which I greatly appreciated. Despite the traffic, him and his sons arrived right on time. I appreciated that his business was a family affair and enjoyed seeing how kindly he was coaching his sons to help remove the chair. Antonio was a consummate professional and incredibly courteous. He brought a regular truck to take the recliner, but said he has much larger trucks available for larger hauls if needed. I am saving Amigos in my phone as a trusted business. I would absolutely use them again to haul off large unneeded items.

He told me that since it was two pieces, the cost could be $169 dollars. He said that if I spoke with the drivers, they may lower the cost. I scheduled a pick-up between 6:30 & 8:30pm that evening. The young men arrived. They were very polite and professional. One came to me with a clip board and told me for two pieces, the price was $269! I told him what their constituent told me. They said he does that all the time and it causes problems with customers. I told him to let the guy who answered the phone pay the extra $100! I was angry that I had been lured into a pick-up only to extend the price. The driver told me he was going to take a picture and call his manager to see if they could lower the price. He walked on the other side of the truck, presumably made a call. He then told me he was unable to get ahold of his manager and offered $200. I said no! Then he said he would give me his "personal discount" and make it $180. I finally said okay just to get the furniture off my curb. If a neighbor would have called the police, I then would have had a citation fee. They took the couch and loveseat, but is cost me! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. The antics were a financial jigsaw puzzle. They take advantage of customers. Not a great way to do business. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. I've already been asked about their service by another person and told them to find another company for these reasons.

Online, it tells you to get a quote you have to fill out their form and instead of getting a quote with a price, the website is designed to book the appointment without showing you a price. When I dug around their website and finally did find a price, it stated that for a single item (desk) the price was $79. Initially, I had a desk and file cabinet that I needed them to come and discard and it had to be done on the date of the appointment. When the two haulers arrived, I informed them that I had gotten rid of the file cabinet on my own so the only thing I needed them for was to haul the desk away. The hauler tells me that the rate is based on the volume of the truck, which didn't seem right, but at this point I don't have access to the website and again I needed this gone that day. So after they removed the desk, I reached out to 1-800-GOT-JUNK and explained what happened and that I should have been charged $79 for the desk and I was easily charged 4-5 times that rate. I explained that if the quote was for two items, shouldn't it have reverted to the single item pricing since they only took a single item? Luckily they take pictures of everything, so I got a reply back but the reply back stated that I would still be charged over two times that advertised $79 because I was, in fact, right in that the hauler should've revised the pricing when he realized he was only taking a single item. I asked about why it's not the advertised $79 and he stated that the hauler should've disclosed the correct price at the time of the haul but that $79 is for a piece of office furniture like a chair and that there's a separate itemized price list sheet that would've had different prices depending on the desk size. Again, NONE of this is available to the general public under the pricing link on their webpage and in fact, the webpage states "starting at $79 for one small item" and proceeds to list "examples of pieces with single-item pricing" which includes "any furniture." When I explained this was extremely misleading and that it would be easy to just show the ACTUAL price list under "pricing" for transparency, the owner's reply was "I don't make the website." So that tells you the kind of people you're dealing with and what to expect - had I heard this upfront, that would've been an easy pass. But you live and you learn and the best I can do now is warn the next person.

Unreliable experience all around, I do not recommend College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving under any…read morecircumstances. I will say- the only positive thing is that the movers arrived on time. First, they are paid hourly and really know how to drag out the time. Slowly moving things and often texting on their phones. What should have very easily been a 2 hour move, was extended to 3 hours. Second, they agreed to remove junk and a couch. Although, "something came up" where their junk removal guy had to be somewhere else and, so they apparently no longer had the time or space to remove the couch they initially agreed to move. We were told they would stop by later to pick up the couch. Although they conveniently did not tell us that by coming back later we would be charged even more then quoted to pick up the couch. (A separate $99 minimum charge) Why are we being charged extra if it's the company's fault that the junk pickup had to be rescheduled? We made it clear, multiple times, what junk needed to be picked up. Lastly, they broke our furniture and TAPED IT back together, but failed to mention they broke it. Instead of telling us, they hid it in the back of the pile of things and face down where we would not be able to see it. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Lastly, you can expect surprise fees and charges once your move is completed. The estimate was completely inaccurate. Despite us being incredibly descriptive on what needed to be moved and junked, the total ended up being $200 more than what we were quoted and that's not even including the "$99 minimum" charge they added due to having to come back to get the couch. (Which we ultimately declined). Honestly, the service we received today was astonishing given all the "positive" reviews you'll find for this company and location. Take this review for what it's worth, but under no circumstances will I recommend College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving. I'm attaching pictures of the T.V. stand they snapped- it can no longer support weight on top of the table. You can see the tape job they did and how it snapped. Additionally, I've added pictures of the moving blanket they forgot as they hastily left- so you can see that the tape used to tape the broken table is theirs.
