Alto has moved from its rather odd location in a hallway at the RiNo Art Park to a more formal…read moregallery space in the new Walnut Flats Apartments at 38th and Walnut. The gallery is still operated by the non-profit Birdseed Collective and dates back to 2016 with a modest space in the Berkeley neighborhood. It moved to the Art Park in 2021 and relocated here in July 2026. The gallery shows emerging and established contemporary artists with a strong focus on local talent, BILPOC, and diverse individuals. A variety of community programming includes workshops, demonstrations, performances, and artist talks, in addition to receptions for continuing monthly exhibitions. The new location provides much more high-quality exhibition space plus a large studio/workshop area. The only downside is that parking is a little tricky in this area with many busy streets intersecting and a lot of continuing construction underway. The art shown here varies widely in quality, given the nature of the gallery's mission, but shows are often interesting and thought-provoking. It is certainly worth fighting the traffic to check things out. An early weekend afternoon might be a good time to find a more peaceful atmosphere in this area.

Kelly Austin-Rolo is a contemporary, abstract artist who works primarily in encaustic with a focus…read moreon landscapes. She has maintained a studio in the 910 Arts complex for many years, but has now converted the space to a gallery with a grand opening on May 15, 2026. Go through the south door of the 910 Arts building and up the south staircase by the coffee shop. You will find the gallery in Unit 10 at the top of the stairs. Alternatively, you can use the north door and/or north staircase to get upstairs, then take the walkway to the south side of the building. The gallery is small, but bright, with two windows facing west and a large entrance with light from a huge skylight over the stairwell. The inaugural show, "Points of View: Ideas in Conversation," presents complimentary, abstract work from 15 established artists, including Kelly. The 910 Arts building is full of artists' studios, other galleries, and a very nice coffee shop. Rolo Gallery is a great addition to the complex.

The NKollectiv gallery has been humming along in its new home for quite some time now--using all three of the gallery spaces plus the long hallway quite effectively. I believe all of the studio spaces have been allocated and various workshops and classes have been conducted. A nice, light-filled workshop space is available for up to a dozen people. Nicole also offers open studio time to the public on an hourly basis. The spaces can be rented for events. A fully-equipped kitchen is available. EASEL has created a critical mass of arts-oriented businesses in Englewood. Nicole has been one of the forces behind Second Saturday Englewood. A dozen or more of the 40 art businesses, studios, and restaurants in the area offer extended hours and special events on the second Saturday of each month. The City's free BERT shuttle bus has a special route connecting these locations.

This beautifully-designed, relatively recent addition to the Botanic Gardens complex finally adds…read moremany much-needed upgrades to the science and art features of the facility. The main components are a much larger space for the Helen Fowler Library, the gorgeous Sturm Family Auditorium, three large art galleries, classrooms, research laboratories, collections storage, the School of Botanical Art & Illustration, and--last but not least--the Copper Door coffee shop. The design is extremely attractive and includes a soaring lobby with a huge visual display of stunning natural vistas. The space is also functional with room for large receptions, presentations, teaching, research, storage, and art. The new galleries have been very well curated. I have enjoyed one fascinating art exhibit after another. The display space is sweeping and functional for both large-scale sculptural and wall-hung pieces. The auditorium fills a long-standing need. It is beautiful, very well-equipped, and offers great sight lines and excellent acoustics. The many features of this center complete and enhance a multitude of missing pieces for the Botanic Gardens' programs. It is a wonderful addition to the complex. The building has its own main entrance, but there is also a nice internal bridge that connects to the Gates Court of the Boettcher Memorial Center.

This beautifully restored building was originally opened in 1915 as the Parker Schoolhouse, then in…read more1967 was taken over by Parker United Methodist Church which built the annex in 1978. It was acquired by the Town of Parker in 1995 to use as a community center. A recent $3 million renovation has restored the historic portion of the building to immaculate condition and completely revamped the newer annex section. The complex includes an event room, meetings rooms, a dance studio, a 200-seat theater, an art gallery curated by the Parker Artist Guild, and an historical museum managed by the Parker Area Historical Society. The facility hosts community arts events and classes in theater, dance, music, and visual arts. The theater lobby now has a large concession area with new bathrooms and much more space and the theater has new seats and risers for much-improved sight lines. The theater is also now fully ADA-compliant. The renovations have been extremely well-done. The new theater lobby is spacious and has a well-designed concession area. There's lots of room for the art gallery and for the little historical museum off to one side. The original Schoolhouse section maintains lots of original woodwork and has been opened up to show the original layout. There are lots of spaces for classes and meetings. The Schoolhouse is right in the middle of historic Parker with lots of shops and restaurants a short stroll away. It is a great adjunct to the larger PACE Center which is a couple of blocks down the street on the edge of the historic district.

The performances are great. We just saw The Addams Family and loved it…read more My only complaint is the seats aren't very comfortable. The whole family struggled to get comfortable, even the 7 year old! If you are a larger person I can't imagine the siesta are comfortable at all. Still worth a visit to see a show!

This gallery/studio space is tucked into an odd corner of the Flight (BOA) building on the Taxi…read morecampus. It is part of the ArtLab program at the PlatteForum nonprofit where professional artists work with youth interns on arts and civic engagement projects, culminating in public exhibitions. This location provides the studio space for the current Artist In Residence (A.I.R.) and space for the interns who work with that person. There is also a gallery space. PlatteForum hosts periodic art shows here in addition to the gallery at its headquarters. PlatteForum is a very worthy organization that provides a safe space for disadvantaged youth to express themselves with resources, career, and development opportunities. The internships are paid so there is no barrier to participation. Groceries, therapy, and tutoring are provided if needed plus all arts and technology supplies. Forty to fifty high school students participate for one to four years. The core program is the opportunity to collaborate with the professional artist in residence, but PlatteForum provides many other avenues to positive development including initiatives led by the participants, wellness workshops, career training, new experiences, and long-term mentorship.
