The somewhat worn out surf bus made me wonder whether this was going to be a fun 2 hours but the great care the guys took in explaining me and my kids about the dangers of surfing and how to cope with that took away any doubt I had about their professionalism. We had a blast! After a good instruction on how to get on your board, we hit the waves. Mike and Dominic were in the water with us instructing and helping us while standing in the turf for the full 2 hours and a bit more. We had a couple of great runs, wipe outs and lots of laughs. Communication and planning with Joey beforehand was super easy, and he met me at the beach with a board and wet suit ready to go first thing in the morning the day of. We covered some on land basics and then headed into the water. He picked waves, helped push me into them, and i even managed to stand up a few times on the board!! We chatted a bunch about how to read the water, time the waves, how to maneuver yourself and the board if bigger waves are coming in while youre trying to go out. I was comically bad, but he was encouraging the whole time. And i feel prepared enough to pick out a board and try some non guided surfing at my local east coast beaches!​ All in all great experience for something I've wanted to do for a long time.

On shore he discussed safety, the tides and things we need to know. We practiced our pop up and stance before heading out to the water. And once there, Dave stayed close to each of us and telling us he wants to help. Surfing is such a work out. Being lighter, my son was up on his board every single time. We were all trying so hard but having so much fun at the same time. I recommend Dave and his classes. I'm glad that with the new skill he taught me, I can take advantage of the warmer waters of the Caribbean in the summer time.

They said to wait 24-48 hours, so I gave them a week before I called and emailed. They responded that the business is going through a "company redesign" and they aren't currently giving lessons, but would I like to wait until they open back up? I asked for a refund and it took a month from purchase to refund (to be fair, this was around the holidays). My biggest problem? They allow you to get through the entire transaction without letting you know they're shut down, and don't give you any of that messaging until you reach out proactively. Not good business practices, and not where I will leave my $130.

Ward, was quick to notice I was having a difficult time and he made the adjustments that was needed. Whatever he did worked and my first pop up was the best experience I ever had. Simona, handles more of the business aspect of the company but occassionally instructs as well. She is very well organized, a great communicator, knoweledgeable, and a sweet person. The front desk staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and all of the instructors have been patient, encouraging, and great with the kids. The classes are very well organized, with clear groupings and instructors, so everything runs smoothly. The pool is a great size, and the water temperature is perfect for young swimmers, making it a comfortable experience for the kids. We currently have all three of our children enrolled, and they happily go into class without any tears. They've made tremendous progress in a short amount of time, and it's been wonderful watching their confidence grow in the water. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of instruction and experience. We're extremely happy with La Petite Baleen and will absolutely continue bringing our kids. Teacher Jenny nurtured my baby into a confident, water-loving swimmer before she even turned 3! Synchronized swimming filled both of these interests perfectly. I not only got to learn a unique sport but I also got to work with some great coaches that pushed me and inspired me to be the person I am today. Synchronized swimming taught me how to be a team player, which is a quality and skill I now use on a daily basis in both my professional and personal life. This sport and swim club really shaped a great deal of my childhood and I am proud to be able to say that I once was a San Francisco Merionette. It's basically a controlled version of snow skiing with much more friction, so every weakness in your form and technique is amplified 10x. Basically, snow sliding in slow motion. I'm finding it invaluable to prep myself for snow season AND to explore movements/drills that would usually be too risky or potentially injurious to use on the snow. Also, huge shoutout to the instructor, Joad Stein. He deeply understands technique, progression, and how to adapt training to the individual user & background. I've trained with some of the best in skiing and he's absolutely at the elite level instruction & understanding-wise. Super enjoyable getting prepped and bouncing ideas off him, and I'm looking forward to the continuous improvement to come adding Adventurous to my ski prep regimen!!! I'd recommend it to everyone from complete novices to expert ski racers. It's that valuable (and far cheaper/less painful than the same experience up on the snow).
