Get the Reuben. The corned beef is melt in your mouth tender. All the food is good here but this is my favorite.

I can always count on Burgers & Beer for a pretty good meal! I would crown Burgers & Beer as Gibson…read moreCity's most consistent restaurant. Before I even walk in, I know the quality of food I'm going to get and I know I'm going to walk out of the restaurant feeling like my arteries need a few business days to recover. As the name suggests, Burgers & Beer offers delicious burgers and an even better time. I've had so many different sandwiches from Burgers and Beer and I've come up with some favorites. The Fowl Player is an extremely decadent burger that is great if you want to take a few years off your life! It comes with bacon and an egg. The flavors are fantastic, but you definitely feel some kind of way when you have grease and egg yolk and butter running down your arm. Consider it a cheat meal. If you're looking for something exotic, the Gladiator takes Mediterranean flavors and adds it to the burger. It has tzatziki sauce and feta cheese on it. The burgers in general are always cooked well and flavorful. Burgers and Beer sells other things too. The Smokin' Q is a decent BBQ chicken sandwich, but nothing too crazy. They have hot dogs and fish sandwiches, BLTs, peanut butter and jelly, you name it! I also get my sandwich was a side of tater tots. Those can be great, but sometimes they're a bit overdone. You also cannot forget dessert, their brownie sundae will be sure to give you a sugar high. Generally speaking, service is friendly, but food can be slow. On multiple occasions I've had to wait close to an hour. This is also one of the few restaurants in Gibson that is accommodating to all types of dietary restrictions. I come here with my colleagues specifically for their gluten free friendly options, as well as meatless items. I certainly consider Burgers and Beer a staple in town, you certainly can't beat a good juicy burger with your buddies!

I know that's a weird flex for a restaurant, but listen, usually I'm playing Tetris with plates and elbows, so having actual room to breathe? I appreciated that. Now I started with the Wisconsin cheddar soup, and let me tell you, it came out HOT. I mean fresh off the stove, don't play with it hot. Flavor was there, but I'm not the biggest bacon fan, so I couldn't quite finish it. And that's okay, because the main event was waiting. The chicken stir fry? Oh, now THAT'S where things got serious. Best thing on the table, hands down. I even added my wife's eggs from her meal, yes, I mixed cuisines, yes I took risks, and baby, I was gone. I scarfed that plate down faster than a horse at the Kentucky Derby. No shame, no regrets. And let's not forget our server, such a sweetie. Always nearby, refilling waters, checking in, chatting just enough to make you feel taken care of without hovering. Exactly how it should be done. All in all? Great food, great space, great service. I'll definitely be back...probably for that stir fry alone.

For a German restaurant in rural Illinois, the food has been fresh and authentic and is a nice change in scenery from the local cuisine. The hours are a bit odd, so you definitely have to be intentional when you want to visit. If you find yourself here at the right time, you'll have a decent meal for sure. If you're looking to try a little bit of everything, the Smorgasbord is your best option, that's what I ordered and shared with a colleague. The bratwursts were my favorite thing on the platter. There was definitely something going through the meat, some kind of sauce or cheese that added extra flavor to the sausage. The meat itself was rich and hearty for sure. The other sides were decent too, I really enjoyed the crispy potato pancakes and it was the first time I had tried spatzel. I'd say I'm a fan. The red cabbage was decent too, it was kind of just boiled cabbage. The Rahmschnitzel was definitely over-sauced. I'm sure the pan fried pork on its own was delicious, but by the time it hit the table, the sauce had turned the breading soggy and pork itself became a bit spongy as a result. Not only that, but the gravy wasn't the most warm and seemed a bit congealed. Everything else was satisfactory for sure. Dinner was decent, but the times I've had food catered has been awesome. Horsch Radish is well equipped to handle large events and can meet many different taste buds and food preferences. They had chicken, beef, fish, pasta, salads, everything on offer. All the food tasted great and all the guests loved it as well. Not only that, but the service provided was outstanding. In all honesty, I really liked the catering even more than the restaurant, and the catering wasn't necessarily German food! If you need a catering option, I'd look to Horsch Radish as an option for sure!

Vianna Yang has apparently been a staple within the community, with their presence spanning over many decades. While other nearby restaurants serve dense and greasy American food, I can always rely on Vianna Yangs to provide me with some comforting flavors. I really love the owners of the restaurant. I've had a chance to sit and chat about their business, why they moved to Gibson City. I'm now recognized when I walk in! Although the owners were originally from China, their menu is entirely Americanized Chinese food. No problems on my end, I love this food. All options here are affordable and come in very large portions. I think they do a great job with their fried rice and their chicken and shrimp dishes. I even was introduced to the "Dragon and Phoenix", which is a dish that contains both! Everything has a good balance of sweet and savory, and as mentioned previously, portions are huge! I can turn most meals into 2 portions. Overall, this restaurant is a bit old fashioned. The interior decor could use a little work and they only accept cash. However, I think this is all very fitting with the rest of the town! Gibson City itself is pretty old fashioned, Vianna Yangs fits right in.

The chicken was tender and the pea pods were fresh with a little crisp when you bit into them. The serving was huge and there had to be a pound of pea pods. I was so impressed! I brought home leftovers that will last me 2 more meals. The staff were friendly and answered questions about the ingredients. I am very impressed and will be going back often!

In my visits here, I've had a wide range of experiences ranging from mediocre to fantastic. I guess the day you come really matters here! In terms of general authenticity, I think they're fairly authentic! The pollo loco is a fairly safe item to choose from, if you're looking for something simple and tasty. It's basically an ACP, arroz con pollo (rice and chicken). The chicken is typically cooked well and the cheese is gooey and delicious. The rice isn't that impressive in my opinion though. In fact, there was a day when the restaurant was going to be closed for an extended period of time and the rice they served that evening was some of the worst I had ever had. The rice tasted old, the texture was gummy and it definitely wasn't fresh. On the opposite end of the spectrum, their chimichangas are in my opinion, one of their best items. They're fried to perfection, the filling ratio is perfect and the flavors blend together. On my last visit, I ordered the taco salad and I found it to be just okay. The chicken was really salty, but the rest of the salad was fine! I think Los Caminos' weakest quality is the service. They always seem to be stretched thin and that leads to long wait times. However, given the lack of competition in the city, I think Los Caminos will continue to serve the public for a long time. They certainly get the job done!
