Spent the weekend in Cabin 21 for bachelorette weekend. It was a fun time! The staff to checkin were patient and took their time. Maintenance even popped by to check on the private pool. Only downfall was seeing a fly trap on the kitchen, but it did it's job bc there really weren't flies! I would just recommend updating website bc the cabins don't fill list all the amenities (much more than what we realized). We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back! read more

My family and I stayed three nights for thanksgiving. I have a hard time with holidays sense my mother passed. Being on the land with the animals and Nature was a Confort for me. The city children really enjoyed themselves , even the dog had fun. I loved the cabin and the land around it. The people in the cabin next door helped us city people make a fire so we could make s'mores. Sharon at the check in was very nice to me. The property is nice and clean that we did like. But they need security at night for after hrs because for 2 straight night there was a group that wouldn't be quiet all night till like 3-4am we couldn't sleep much because them being way to loud we understand ppl want to hang it and it's fine but you need to know how to respect others while camping specially when you pay a fee to camp. The second part was the receiving end of the 5 mile rafting on the river we had 3 rafts and we sang a bit at the end not disturbing anyone and other ppl actually like it so as we arrived to disembark the employee with hair to about the shoulder line scream shut that s**** down telling us to be quiet basically and that was completely uncalled for and unprofessional from a camping ground business. For this reason we might not come back and share our stay at this place with other ppl that asks us about it. I recently stayed at Blue Springs Ranch and was deeply disappointed with the overall experience, particularly the customer service. I have been going to this establishment for over 20 years and I regret to say I will not be back. The price increases are outrageous on cabins and kayaking/floating. We use to be able to get into the cabins at 2:00pm now you can't get your keys until 4:00pm and have to check out by 11:00am. We call Friday morning to see if floating was available because of all the rain, it wasn't so we asked if it would be possible to check in a little early, the gentleman said, "Sure I don't see a problem with that". Then when we arrived he denied saying it. UGH! So you pay more money for less time! There were only 2 staff members that were friendly. The others need a lesson in customer service. WE PAY YOUR SALARY! There use to be wi-fi in the cabins, not any longer. Just deeply disappointed. Overall, the lack of professionalism and courtesy from the staff ruined what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable stay. I would not recommend the venue to anyone looking for a pleasant and stress free getaway. read more

Believe it or not people, I like to camp. I like to camp so much that I have 6-7 different ranches and campgrounds I like to rotate, and Blue Springs is damn near close to the top. I'm going to get really corny now and tell you that this spot has a special place in my heart... my family has been coming here for years and some amazing memories have been made. It's clean and it's easy to find, two of the most important factors. They keep wanderers out, too, and you have to check in with a guard upon arrival. The campsites are spacious and have all the necessary hookups, and plenty of room for big campfires! We've found at least 3-4 rock beaches there where you can set up chairs, play some music, and enjoy the gorgeous river. It's so peaceful and fun at the same time, and it's never overly crowded. I definitely recommend a sunrise horseback ride -- it's unforgettable! Be prepared to swat a horsefly should it land on the horse you're riding... I think I'm scarred for life from that one. Anyway, you go all through the woods, across the river... it's really beautiful. Prices aren't too bad but be prepared to pay up if you have a big group. They have a camp store where you can buy all of the necessities, and also tons of good snacks! They also have those super weird camp store staples like Native American dolls, strange trinkets, shirts with wolves on them, etc. Pure awesome. I love camping here and actually have plans to go back one more time before the end of summer. High five for wildlife! read more

We had so much fun here this past weekend. The staff was helpful and super nice. The float trip was well organized and the campground was clean. I do hope they consider building more shower/bath houses. We had to walk a distance to get to one and it was always busy. Waiting in line to brush my teeth and put in my contacts was a little annoying. Easy fix with more bath houses. Only 50 cents to shower and the water was nice and hot! Hire new employees. The girls at the desk clearly did not want to be there, would not give us the time of the day, kept going into the back room to play on their phones. We booked our float trip online and drove over an hour to get there. When we arrived, they informed us that they cancelled our float trip, no reasoning, no text, no email. They also refused to refund us the $200. They said the best they could offer was a rain check, but considering we were just in town for the weekend, we have no use for credit. The manager was not present, and they would not give us the phone number to contact for a refund later. This was our second time here, over a year later, we hoped the previous employees were just in a bad mood, but clearly was not the case. We went to ozarks outdoors instead, and I can not recommend them enough!! We showed up late and without a reservation and they were extremely helpful and accommodating! Awful! Sites are super close together. Kids are driving golf carts, ATV's and dirt bikes all over with no adult supervision. With our kids trying to play and ride bikes this was rather unnerving. They have rules posted that prohibit this but staff didn't do anything. With hundreds of campsites I would expect lots of beach area....not so much. We had to leave the campground to find a place to swim. For what we paid this was disappointing. This place appears to be all about $$. They could have easily spaced out the sites for a more enjoyable experience but they clearly didn't think about the campers experience. We won't go back. read more

The place is nice and so we're the cabins and staff, but the beds there were not good. When I brought it up they told me the bed was just replaced , it couldn't have been. First trip was great, the second trip the rain policy is garbage it has to rain from 7am till noon of that day for them to give any rain checks, so if you float starts at 9am and it rains from 10am till 7pm they will not issue rain checks and will still try to put you on the river in very unsafe conditions, the staff says their rain policy is all over there website, I had to search there site to find the info definatly not up front about that and it only covers the activity not camping or lodging, total rip off I'll never be back even though my 5y/o daughter loved the horses, just not worth being treated that way! prings for over 20 years, and always a great experience. Over the weekend we had the Rock Castle and Cabins 18 and 19. As always, the staff (especially Gina) was very welcoming and are always excited to welcome their regulars back. The cabins are always very clean. I love the new fridge at the Rock Castle. Through the years, the cabin has gotten more and more stocked with folks forgetting items .. I have been guilty of that. The beds are small and not the most comfortable, but folks need to remember this is upgraded camping, not a luxury hotel. It's always nice to see JR down at the pavilion when checking in for our float. The river was a little higher than normal so moving a little quicker. We had a great time at the Upper Beach on Friday and a great time floating on Saturday. The resort is very family friendly and the quiet hours are enforced. The river can get a little crazy on the weekends in the summer, but it is a lot of fun. If you have young children, I would suggest floating during the week. The resort doesn't have any control with what happens on the river as that is a public waterway. I appreciate having such a nice place to go every year and also appreciate all that they have to put up with from customers all summer long. read more

Seems like it could be a great place to camp for a weekend. We stayed in the cabins next to the horses and there were lots of flys in the cabin we had couldn't contain, the water was hit or miss if it was cold or hot, and the mattresses were pretty firm to say the least. The biggest issue we had was on the river float, it rained which caused the river to rise. Once we got to the bus pickup they told us no children under age 15 allowed due to the rise in the water, all fine except please let people know this ahead of time as a courtesy. We had to have someone stay back to babysit 2 children prior to getting on the bus. A simple "by the way" can go a long way instead of finding out right as your loading onto the bus. Another couple had to find a different raft while seated on the bus simply because no one told them they could not take single tubes with a rise in water depth. read more

Blue Springs Ranch presents themselves as a family oriented, safe campground. And while there are many family oriented activities, I cannot agree it is safe. I recently stayed there for a weekend and one of the kids in our group was assulted. He and the other kids staying with us went for a walk at night and were confronted by a group of teen boys. The boys wanted trouble, calling them pussies, and when our kids tried to walk away from the confrontation one of them was rewarded with a serious black eye. When we contacted security they took the kids statements and searched the campground. When security returned, they said they had found the culprits but suggesting dropping it because they were with a large group, for fear of retaliation. That may have been the least confrontational way to handle the situation but we felt is was a cop out. They should have called the police and had them removed and parked security near our campsite. Aside from that situation, the shower house/restrooms was pretty rough. Not to mention it cost 50 cents to take a shower, kind of silly considering how much it cost to stay there. The campsite was too unlevel for a pop-up camper. Most of the staff was nice but a couple were not pleasant. The first 5 miles of float trip was a very challenging for some of the older folks and the last 5 miles was ridiculously over crowded with rafts. People were blocking the river, no chance of social distancing. Not saying that is the fault of Blue Springs Ranch but people need to be aware of the kind of people they will encounter there. All things considered our group will not return. read more

Security team is EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful. When booking and checking in, I confirmed with the staff that quiet time is 11pm to ensure we followed that rule. Saturday night at 10:30 the security truck came flying around the corner, jumped out demanding we turn off our (non offensive and family friendly) music. Not only did we comply immediately, but we apologized asking if it was too loud. The staff proceeded to yell that we were the most disrespectful group they've ever seen there. As he walked away I mentioned that we thought the quiet time was 11, and he barked, "For you guys it's 10:30, I don't want to hear another word." Now, if we had been asked to turn the music down an hour prior or were warned previously I would understand why he came in so rude. But the fact is we were sitting around a fire listening to music while CAMPING, all of our neighbors singing along with us and that was how he handled it? We were in shock and EXTREMELY respectful considering how he approached us. They then parked their truck behind the trees directly in front of us with their lights off, spying on us, trying to see if we'd turn the music back on so they could come back. Really? Our surrounding neighbors not only agreed that it was totally out of line, but seemed even more upset than us. He also barked for my friend to stop speaking Spanish saying "No, we don't have any of that around here." So take that how you want. We won't be returning, which sucks because other than the security guards that completely ruined our last night there, it is a decent place. We've been there two other times in the past as a group, and two of my group members have been going there every year with their family since they were 5 years old. I'm still in shock and extremely disappointed. read more

Sexual predators. We went on a rafting trip for our friends 29th birthday and had a fantastic experience getting signed up and floating down the river. Everything was wonderful until the very end of the trip when we were getting picked up from the river to head back. One of our friends noticed the bus driver looked like he was taking pictures of us, so she casually walked behind him to see what was on his phone screen (don't want to make any false accusations). She confirmed that the bus driver was indeed taking pictures of our group. We decided to report this to management as we wanted to ensure that the pictures this man had taken of us without our consent were deleted. We were able to speak with a manager at the front desk, and simply advised that our bus driver had taken unauthorized photos of us on his personal phone and we wanted him to bring his phone in and show that he had deleted the photos. As we provided our bus number and a description of the driver, another woman behind the desk defended the bus driver. She said that our driver was her husband, so no way he took pictures of us. As we calmly tried to explain that we weren't just making unwarranted accusations and had visually confirmed that he had taken or pictures the bus driver's wife became increasingly hostile. We ended up just leaving because we didn't want to spoil the birthday fun for our friend. I am immensely disappointed in the way this was handled. We did not ask for a refund or try to take advantage of the situation to get any freebies, we simply wanted confirmation that our images were deleted from this man's phone. We learned that this man has been working at Blue Springs for over 20 years; this can't have been his first time taking inappropriate pictures without the consent of guests (admittedly this is just my speculation). We were incredibly upset and disappointed by the behavior of the staff and management when we brought this issue to their attention. Overall the float was a great experience, but I cannot recommend this place to anyone with a female in their group. Women and parents of young women - be warned that there is a sexual predator on staff that is collecting unauthorized images for his personal use. The staff will defend their own and will not respect the rights of customers. Had the staff responded to our concerns with even a hint of respect for us, this would have been a 5 star review. I cannot, in good faith, recommend an organization that defends a predatory staff member over customers to anyone. read more

I came here a year after I originally purchased a float trip because in 2012 Hurricane Irene made floating conditions impossible. Which is understandable. This time, in 2013, the river was flooded due to rain but my party and I did not know our float trip was cancelled until we had driven an hour and a half from St. Louis to Blue Springs. The store associates claimed they tried to call and left a voicemail but we never received a phone call or a voicemail. Their explanation was "We were overwhelmed with phone calls, its likely we missed people". Really? You charge people $35 to use an inflatable device to float down a river, which I could probably do on my own, and you can't be bothered to make sure you contact every individual with a reservation to let them know their reservation is no longer valid? I guess that is their customer service mantra: "we do the bare minimum, and screw you if you expect to get what you paid for". Because this was the second time our trip was cancelled, we asked for our money back. And were denied. Several times. I understand that they have no control over the weather and the flood conditions on the river, but to not even compensate for their lack of effort to contact us prior to the day of our reservation is just absurd. We were told we could have another rain check which would be good for one year. So, theoretically, I could be taking the float trip TWO YEARS after I initially purchased the ticket. Like an asshole, the owner actually walked away from us in the middle of the discussion. Just walked away. Eventually they gave us a credit card with the full value of the trip (about $500) and suggested we SELL IT ON CRAIGSLIST to get our money back. What a slap in the face. If you're looking to float and you're coming from St. Louis, I would suggest you take your business elsewhere because this organization does not know the meaning of customer service and does not make the slightest effort to keep a customer's business. I wish I could give this place zero stars but that is unfortunately not possible. Disappointment and bad feeling all around. read more

After looking over the negative comments left by others, I wish I had read them prior to booking a cabin. My ONE requirement for my outing with five other co-workers was to have Internet available in order for us all to be able to get our work done while we were there. I called and made a reservation after verbal confirmation that Internet was provided in the cabin. After arrival, I learned that this was not the case. I will save a long, drawn out story to summarize that the staff working at the store attempted to be helpful, but were not. They turned the fact that there was sporadic Internet available back on me as my fault for not making it crystal clear to them that we *really* required Internet to be available. A refund was out of the question, according to them. To top this off, it rained the entire time, the river was flooded, so this led to no floating, no horseback riding, and no ziplining available. What saved the trip was a last minute zip we were able to squeeze in the morning of our departure. Cole and Terran were AMAZING ziplining guides and should lead a class in customer service for all the staff at the store. read more

I wish I could give a zero stars! The staff unbelievably rude. We had issues two years in a row and we will never be back. They accused us of being loud every 20 minutes (not an exaggeration), even though it was clear when they arrived we were quietly talking around the fire (which they stated is allowed). We heard the loud campsites below our site, but they seemed fixated on us and ruining our trip. We were repeat customers for 5 years (not because of customer service, but because it was a short drive from St. Louis), but two years in a row the staff had it out for us. The night security cussed us out letting us know that they will show us the door at 3:30am if we don't comply. Let me repeat, we were not a part of the loud campsites. This endeavor went on long into the night even after we had gone to sleep. They rode their ATVs through our campsite multiple times to check in on us to make sure we were "keeping it down". It was one of the absolute worst experiences I've ever had. The staff could care less about ruining an expensive weekend for you. DO NOT GO HERE! Nice, clean resort! Had a lot of full RV hook-ups and plenty of camping space. Staff was very courteous and friendly. My only complaint was that the RV spaces were right on top of each other. Our neighbors waste hose and sewer trap was literally less than 10 feet from our trailer door. Wouldn't have been bad if it had been farther back by the end of both trailers. But, instead it was directly in the middle of the two spaces. To paint an accurate picture, it was under cover of our awning. Other than that, it was good experience. I had a similar experience to M.C. Maybe it was the same weekend, but I have never been on a float trip before and my friends and I were really excited. We spent a lot of time planning to make sure we could all make it for the weekend. We drove two hours to get there, arrived on time for our reservation, went to the front counter to check-in, and were told that there were no float trips that day because the river was flooded. I was already annoyed and said it would have been appropriate to get a phone call to notify people with reservations and the girl at the front said that they called everyone and if they didn't answer they left a message. My friend made the reservation and received no such call, and there was no voice message left! She lied to us?! It should not have been hard for them to pick up the phone and notify them that they were cancelling the float trip before we drove 2 hrs to get there! And her attitude was really bad. No apology, no sorry. We were not issued a refund either. They said it was their policy, but their policy (conveniently for them) was not written down anywhere. I definitely would not make another trip here. They were rude, lacked customer service, and obviously did not care about their patrons. I wouldn't recommend anyone to book their float trip here. read more

Floated and camped with some friends this past weekend here and had lots of problems. Every employee I spoke to was rude to me and all of my friends - very unprofessional. Loved the actual float but interacting with the employees ruined the experience. While reserving my raft I was not informed of the extra $34 I had to pay for 4 people on a raft which is ridiculous. They also failed to inform me of other charges and instead of refunding me charged me another $34 after my 4th person canceled. We will not be back. read more

Great place, lots of things to do, we floated, we zip lined, and did a trail ride. We could have gone hiking through some trails or even relaxed by the pool side. Staff was very friendly, wish there were some concrete pads for handicap access. My son is handicap and pushing a wheel chair through gravel would be difficult, but we can make do with a wagon. Floating was great as when you finish the float you end right at your campsite. Even though it was hot we had lots of fun! We will definitely be back. read more

Last weekend was my first experience with camping and floating at the Blue Springs Ranch. It is a smaller camping resort located a few miles south of I-44 and closer to the city than our usual hot spots outside of Cuba. The campsite we reserved was spacious, which was a bonus considering the amount of people in our group. The facilities were clean and staff were more than helpful and friendly. The float was also a blast, and the staff seemed very organized as far as handling the reservations and shuttles. The actual rafts were also nice and spacious. I would definitely book another float trip considering this site is located on the Meramac, and we had no issues where the river was low. I definitely recommend Blue Springs if you want a cozy and comfortable camp resort not far from the city. read more

Let me start by saying the facility & campgrounds themselves did not disappoint. I would return had my experience been solely based on this. I have gone on a lot of float trips in my life. Each time I look forward to a good time and especially good memories. This past weekend a group of myself and some friends (about 25 of us) planned our annual float trip. Sadly, I broke my foot three weeks ago and went in for surgery two weeks before our trip. I called the day after breaking my foot to see if a refund was possible (per the campsites policy only rain checks were offered), I decided to rough it out and make the most of one of my favorite times of year. We arrived at our campsite around 4 p.m. Friday evening and started having a good time. We were surrounded by a few families, while we understand this is a family friendly place and were more than willing to respect the quite hours we are also a group of twenty-something's ready to have a good time. We played a little music (not loud at all and our neighbors were very friendly and had no qualms) sometime around 9:30/10 p.m. we were approached by a very rude staff member insisting we turn our music off and calm down for the night. I would completely expect this after the stated quite hours (11 p.m.) I was however, extremely upset that we were approached and treated this way before the posted hours and while our neighbors were clearly not making any complaints. The following morning we woke up for our float. The majority of our group was set to float at 10 a.m. so I booked an earlier float (since I'm clearly a little more high maintenance with a broken foot). I arrived at the office and having experience a really rough night due to my foot requested a rain check for my float, I was told they were only allowed to do a 6 month rain check and unfortunately none of the weekends in the next 6 months work for me. I reluctantly, not wanting to lose out on my money, decided to try to make it through the float. I later found out 12 month rain checks were issued per the general policy. You can imagine my disappointment and anger at hearing this. Furthermore, the larger portion of our group arrived to begin their float and spent the better part of 45 minutes arguing with the staff regarding payment. Our float was booked and paid for several months in advance. The staff upon receiving their check-in told one of our 10 man groups that there was nothing on file and they couldn't float. This continued for some time and my group tried every route, as far as calling their bank to get a copy of the bank statement with withdrawal amounts and dates, only to find out the staff member had put in the card number and misspelled the name (little mistakes that could have been avoided if the person was paying attention). Finally, our group was set to float and given their slip, with no apology of any nature as to the customer service (or lack thereof) and treatment they were provided. The saving grace of this monstrosity of a trip was a lady by the name of Mary. Mary is the ABSOLUTE best and Blue Springs Ranch needs a few more of her. She was one of the shuttle drivers to and from the float. She was beyond amazing when I first arrived she went as far to describe the terrain at the float launch point. Upon my return from the float she met me and assisted me in getting on the bus and helped my girlfriend clean out our float and throw trash away. Once we arrived to our car Mary pulled the bus up as close as possible to our vehicle and provided her towel for me to sit on while getting out of the bus. This incredible customer service did not go unnoticed and Mary is truly an irreplaceable asset to the Blue Springs staff. read more

Our family went to Blue Spring Ranch to do their zip line. Check in was professional and quick. They directed us to the zip line course where our two guides fitted us with our equipment and then gave us a training course on zip lining. We then proceeded to the zip course start where our family had a wonderful time on the course. Our guides were helpful, very thorough regarding our safety, and made sure we had a good time. We will definitely return! They also showed us one of the rental cabins which looked quite nice. read more

Staff does NOT enforce quiet hours even though they assure the contrary. Pay showers that are not warm and only moderately clean. Campsites are so close together you can hear your neighbor fart, which is odd because there seems to be plenty of real estate to spread out a bit. Great place if you like to party, I suppose. I have been here twice and I will not be returning. Stick to MO state parks or Corps of Engineer campgrounds for a more relaxing experience. read more

We were crammed onto an electric site in the middle of a huge family reunion that booked at the last minute. We had to move to an unimproved site as a consequence. Aren't there group camping sites for this kind of thing? The PAY showers are not warm at all! We bathed at the bathroom sink (which had plenty of hot water, btw). The campground is unpatrolled at night. Many campers had issues with the site that shot fireworks off until one a.m. We were assured there was a "no fireworks" policy when we reserved our site. We will not return to Blue Springs Ranch. read more
