We wanted to remove the Popcorn Ceiling and apply a knockdown texture throughout the house as part of a minor Kitchen Remodel that primarily focused on removing a wall and redirecting some electrical that was in the wall. We received several previous estimates from a Popcorn/Ceiling/Texture company, a contractor, and an electrician. Trying to coordinate three different companies to complete one job can be very challenging. I contacted Blue Sky Textures & Drywall for an estimate on the Popcorn Removal. Our Estimator was Jack who was very professional and conversational, he also happens to be the owner. I discussed with him on the scope of our project and that the popcorn ceiling would be done after the removal of the wall by another contractor. Jack stated that they perform all work " in-house" and have contractors on staff that can remove the wall, do the electrical, Remove the Popcorn, Apply Texture and paint the ceiling. Jack was outstanding as we discussed all aspects of the work to be contracted. I received the estimate which was very affordable considering the scope of the project. It was also very appealing that we would only need to deal with one company as all aspects of the work will be completed "in-house" with no sub-contractors. The work was promptly scheduled and was greeted by the Job Forman, Jay. We discussed the project and timeline as the crew immediately went to work covering all furniture, floors and walls with plastic. Jay is a talented Contractor and excellent electrician and the entire Blue Sky Team was amazing.... From the Demo, Electrical, Plastering, Finishing, Knockdown to the final Paint, every aspect of the project went exactly as planned. I was in constant contact with Jay as he visited the job every day making sure that we were 100% satisfied with the work. Removing Popcorn Ceiling is a messy job, don't let anyone tell you different. I included a picture of what you should expect. I would even suggest leaving the house or planning a day outdoors. However, Blue Sky covers EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING. At the end of each day, the Blu Sky Team completely cleans up and starts each day completely fresh, recovering everything. I know other Popcorn Removal Companies leave up all the plastic for two days so that the painters don't have to cover or tape-up anything. Not Blue Sky, they leave your house livable everyday. I would highly recommend Blue Sky Textures. read more

Pro's and Con's fort Blue Sky Popcorn Removal. Pro's: Arrived on time, large crew (about 8 men), most were very friendly, garage ceiling came out excellent, minor clean up not done. Cons': Red garage door has white paint on it, Patio ceiling is splotchy, damage to walls from tape not fixed, paint on walls, one ceiling fan slightly damaged and screws stripped, contacted Blue Sky twice about the issues but did not receive any follow up from them. Had to do all the repairs myself. read more

I had Blue Sky remove the popcorn from my house here in Boynton Beach. They did a beautiful job. I was hesitant because I despise any kind of mess - - this was not messy! They covered the inside of my house with heavy plastic and then took the mess away with them. I only had to put back the things that needed to be moved - - ten minutes! Be prepared with some paint to do touch-ups from the tape. Unfortunately, I was NOT prepared with the paint and the kind men went to get a color match done. Uh-oh, it didn't match. I called the company back and they came back to re-do the touch ups. The men were kind, prompt, excellent workers and did a beautiful job. I am 100% happy with this company and can highly recommend their services. The owner responded to my "touch-up" concern immediately! There is not a better company for your popcorn removal! read more

I hated my ceilings from the moment I moved into my house. At the time at the time, other repairs took precedent over ceilings. Our biggest fear was the dust and mess that having them done while living in the home would cause. I have to say our ceilings were taken down on Monday and painted on Tuesday. I'm still trying to find a speck of dust. so many friends have told me horror stories about having their ceilings done while living in the home. All I know is blue sky did my ceilings and my house was as clean when I came back in as before they did the job they were quick. They were clean. They were courteous I cannot recommend them more. read more

Ok folks, this is the company to hire! The OWNER came to my house DAILY to oversee the project. I had the popcorn ceiling replaced with knock down and a demo done in the master bathroom. Added recessed lighting, new fan and new lights with dimmers. They have an in house electrician and a large crew of drywall specialists. So there's no waiting for someone to come finish the job in stages. My house was vacant during all of this and yes, the popcorn removal is a big messy job. But when they were finished, OMG you'd never know they were here. The ceiling looks amazing. Demi took about a week and is also perfect. Electrician moved the light switch and the vanity light spot. I cant say enough about Jack Doucette, the owner. He really cares about you. He even gets his hands dirty. My neighbors saw them at my house and hired them too. Just do it! You won't find a lower price either. Thank you Blue Sky team!!! read more

They broke a $575 lamp and did not respond to my requests for credit. Their guys stood it in a corner to support it so I could not see it until after I had paid them and they were gone. Lousy company and would advise you to avoid them. Like a person, you can tell their character when something goes wrong. Very disappointed. The lady who answers the phone is lovely and I feel sorry she has to work with such a shady company. read more

Blue Sky came out and gave me an estimate for work to be done in my condo. Estimator was on time (day before July 4th holiday) and was knowledgeable and transparent. Reasonable estimate to get work done. Several conversations with Nick were both helpful and informative. I ended not using their services because of condo building restrictions, but would have no hesitation to utilize this company in future. 5 stars. read more

I did a complete renovation probably had seven or eight different crews doing different tasks. The crew that came in besides being so meticulous, leaving the place better than when they came in cleanly wise. I honestly told the owner I wish they did complete renovations with kitchens and bathrooms. It would've made my life 1000 times easier the owner was very flexible which allowed me to have them come in and do some stuff and then come back after the other guys have finished what they needed to. I'm all about value and by far. I would use this company again and again and again. Even though they say it's popcorn removal ask what else they do because like I said this crew came in and handled many other things such as painting and electrical all with very qualified people, normally don't comment on these type of things but again all the other people that are working on the house cut corners, and things. So if you're considering a company that does this type of work I highly recommend this company reach out to Jack and Nick. read more

Just had our entire 2 story house done. These guys are the best. They weren't kidding when. They said it would take 2 days only. 1 day to remove and put down the Knockdown Texture, and another to paint. Came out beautiful!! Not only where they on time, but there was no big mess. All furniture covered. Carpet was fine, floors needed a quick mop in some places but no mess at all. I was amazed. They put plastic over everything. There were 2 different crews, they communicated well. The painting crew was and absolute pleasure to work with. Polite, helpful, they put back all the ac registers, lights, fans. They were just awesome. Came at 9.30 and done by 4pm. Cleaned up everything. Had many neighbors recommend them, even co-workers - am so glad to have done it. House looks awesome. Blue Sky really made it painless. read more

We contracted with Blue Sky Popcorn Removal to take off the popcorn ceiling in our home. The workmen arrived on time, were very polite, did a good job of removing the popcorn ceiling, and a very good job painting the ceiling after removal. The problem we had with this company is the "cleanup" after the job was done. The cleanup was very bad. We had popcorn debris on our bedding,, cabinets, furniture, electronics, appliances, and all over the carpeting. Every corner was covered with popcorn. Many of the cabinets and floor areas were streaked with paint. We have been cleaning for 2 days and we still haven't put a dent in the debris left behind. It looked like nothing was covered by the workmen. We had to hirer a professional cleaning service to come in to clean the entire house. I would not recommend this company based upon the mess they left behind. I would give this company a 2 star rating. read more

Truly one of the best contractors I've ever hired! I can't say enough good things about Blue Sky. Reasonably priced, started on time, finished on time. I would DEFINITELY use them again and recommend them without hesitation. Look no further! read more

I took a chance on this company due to their great reviews on Yelp. This review is somewhat of a mixed bag with more negative than positive once it's all said and done. I hired Blue Sky to remove my popcorn ceilings and texture two bedrooms, a hallway, and living/dining room. The kitchen and bathrooms were smooth and only needed texture (the cost was the same as the rest of the house at $1.25 sq/ft despite not needing popcorn removal). Getting the free estimate happened quickly. They were very responsive and once I committed they scheduled my job within the week. Wednesday 10/16, the workers arrived within the time frame and finished by 2pm for about 1100 or so sq/ft. They were polite and for the most part my house was pretty clean for having all this work done. Now for those that aren't handy, there is some work that has to be done yourself after. Texture was dripping down the walls in areas in most rooms and I had to get my putty knife out to clean the edges up. Also they left staples in the walls and in my trim. It was later explained that if you pay them to paint they would clean up the edges for you. So at first sight everything looked pretty good. I gave them my money and went back to work. Later I noticed my fan blade screws were no where to be found. Annoying because the house smelled like old gym socks and I wanted to air the place out. Again, not a big deal but I had to go buy fan screws from Lowes. So now I have more time to look at my brand new ceilings. Living/dining room look pretty good. Guest bedroom looks pretty good too. Popcorn not scraped as well but not that noticeable. Then I get to the hallway and master bedroom. In these areas the popcorn wasn't even removed. They shot the texture over it and it's very obvious. Looking at it I see some of the tips of the popcorn are broken off but generally they're intact. This must have been a tougher area for the workers because they literally just shot texture over the popcorn. Further evidence of this is there were lines of caulk in four areas where the trim of my closets used to be. The caulk is still there! They just shot texture over it and it stands out. CAULK WOULD NOT SURVIVE A GOOD SCRAPING. If they scraped the ceiling it would not be there. Also there was a divot in the ceiling. They didn't patch it like they were supposed to and instead just shot texture over it. So I'm stuck with two areas that just look like textured popcorn. So I reach out to them that evening to a number they had texted me from. I assumed being a highly rated company they would like to know if the quality of the work their workers was doing wasn't meeting their standard. There is no direct line. You need to leave a message and someone will call you back. Someone responded to me about the fan screws possibly being taped to the fan (they weren't) and ignored my concerns about the texture being shot over the popcorn. No response. So Thursday I call and leave a message which was promptly returned by woman whose name I didn't get. She assured me if the workers did not remove the popcorn then that's a big problem. She asked for pictures which I sent over. She said she'd show them to Nick and Jack Friday morning (not sure who they are). I was happy thinking this was getting resolved quickly. Days go by. I text the woman I sent the picture to asking if they had a chance to review the picture. She said Nick will be in touch with me. No one calls. Tuesday afternoon I reach out again asking if I could get a time frame on when I may hear back from Nick. I haven't received any response and it's Thursday night. At this point I've already painted all the ceilings except for the hallway and master bedroom. If they would at least pick up the phone and call me so I know how or if this will be resolved, it would allow me to plan the rest of my renovations. Right now I'm at a stand still waiting to see how this will be resolved. It would be better if they picked up the phone and told me to "get lost" rather than keep me in limbo because at least then I could move on to other things. It's become clear that customer satisfaction or quality of work isn't their priority once they have your money. If this were my business I would have called as soon as possible if the quality of work or customer satisfaction had come into question. In sum, I believe they are likely capable of good work. However, if they don't provide you good work, they don't care to resolve it or listen to your concerns. Don't be like me and give them your money until you've thoroughly reviewed their work. read more

Blue Sky Textures!!! We did our research, got three bids and we went right back to Blye Skies. Sherie is the glue with this company! She quoted the day we called, no surprises. First off I want to say the process of getting a quote to do the work was exceptionally transparent and easy. Additionally the work itself was done on time and in a good way. The crew that cane the first day to remove the popcorn seemed exceptional. This would have been a 5 star review but for the crew that came after the popcorn was removed on the second day to prime and paint the ceilings. The work itself seems fine - thank god. My issue is that they called me several times to try and get me to agree to not rehang my a/c ducts and light's because they didn't want to do the work. After I told them I wanted it back as it was before because I couldn't spend 4 hours rehanging all my ducts and lights they put them back in a haphazard way. Several lights no longer work and i was left with several light fixtures on my counter which they claimed they didnt know where they go but a quick look shows they are from my master and they just didnt want to rehang. This is a shame because the first day process was excellent and I like the companies transparent pricing and all my interactions were pleasant and professional but the second crew was not up to par and now I hafta redue their work which isnt fair since I paid for it to be done proper read more

Very Unprofessional and exposed us to asbestos! Blue Sky came to give us a quote and test the ceiling for asbestos. The man who came took out a piece of the ceiling and went off to test it. They did not use any safety measures or plastic barriers to contain debris. Meanwhile we were left with ceiling pieces all over our laundry room. My husband quickly cleaned it up. Later was called and told it tested positive for asbestos. After further research we found out you are not supposed to vacuum it, as the tiny fibers will fill the air. My whole family was exposed and breathing that in. I have a small baby who crawls on the floor all day. I called the company to see what they can do. The lady I spoke to was unapologetic, rude and I was told "such a little piece won't hurt you." Any basic internet research will tell you otherwise. I'm now left with a bigger mess to clean and paid this company $100 to dangerously expose my family. By the way they are not licensed to work with asbestos, but somehow are allowed to remove a piece to test for it.. read more

Our son purchased his first place (a 1980's condo in Boca Raton) and wanted the popcorn ceilings removed before painting. We asked several people for a recommendation including a close friend that's a painter in the area, and Blue Sky Popcorn Removal kept coming up. They made the scheduling easy, and the work was done on time and on budget. No surprise extra charges at the end. The results are great, and we couldn't be happier. We would highly recommend Blue Sky Popcorn Removal. PS: So happy we didn't attempt to do this work ourselves. We would have made a mess, and ended up calling in the professionals anyway. Something's are better left to the pros. read more

Blue Sky did amazing work in my old Hollywood home about six months ago. They removed all of the 1980's popcorn, patched up all the bad cracked areas and gave my ceiling a beautiful new texture all in under 5 hours. Truly professional, fast and with great overall quality. You can obviously find someone to do it for a bit cheaper, but it is not worth the headache trust me! Their business says Margate but they also service Hollywood (South Broward). Look no further than Blue Sky for Popcorn Removal/knockdown. I just purchased a home built in the mid-80s, which was in dire need of some updates. One of the first things that needed to go was the popcorn ceiling. So I did some research and called Nick @ Blue Sky Textures to get some info on what was involved with the process, our initial phone call was very informative and he was able to quote me over the phone. Being a good homeowner I did my due diligence by shopping around. I got one other quote from someone who was recommended to me by a family member. The second company who quoted me showed up in an unmarked van and looked around the house for a couple minutes before quoting me $100 less than the quote I received from Blue Sky Textures, but this guy told me the work would take 2-3 days, when Nick with Blue Sky assured me it shouldn't take more than 1 day if done properly. As soon as the second contractor left I immediately called Nick back and scheduled the work to be done. In addition to the popcorn removal / knockdown I also opted in for painting the ceiling. Nick told me they guys would start around 9:15 Friday, and they showed up at 9:15. It took them 1 day to finish the job for the popcorn removal/knockdown. And since I wanted them to paint, another crew (painters) were scheduled for 2 days later, Sunday @ 9:15, and they also showed up at 9:15 on the dot. The painting took about 5 hours or so. They did 2 coats of Kilz2 followed by 2 coats of white paint. WOW, everything looks amazing! I'm absolutely in love with the way the ceilings turned out. Everyone involved in the process from Nick, to the crews who came out to do the work were very professional, very clean and very nice to talk to. If you somehow managed to read this entire review, do not hesitate to contact Blue Sky for your ceiling needs. You won't be disappointed. read more

I strongly recommend Blue Sky Popcorn Removal. The new ceilings look amazing. They made sure the entire interior was covered and protected. Walls, floors, everything. We had Blue Sky remove our popcorn ceilings & we are SO VERY PLEASED with the work that they did. The first cres arrived right on schedule and it took them 4 hours to complete the job. We live in a condo. A crew of four gentlemen (Myron, Carl, Nevine & Christian) came in and wrapped our whole condo with plastic. The rooms were in a bubble. They got to work right way and their teamwork was remarkable. The men were friendly and so very polite. After the popcorn was removed, they began to texture the ceilings. They cleaned up very well. I couldn't ask for anything more. After a day of dry time for the ceilings, another terrific crew (Andros, Melheam & George) came in to paint the ceilings. This was another group of fine young gentlemen!!! They again covered the whole condo with plastic and began to put the primer on the ceilings. They left for an hour while the first coat dried and came back to put a coat of white flat paint on the ceiling. This group did an awesome job in preparing the condo and cleaning up after their work. As I said we live in a condo so the men put plastic down on the carpeting from the elevator to our condo. We could not have asked for anything more of them. Nick came to our condo to give us a quote and any questions that we had he answered them and when we called the office Jack was very helpful as well. We would DEFINITELY recommend Blue Sky to anyone that needs their popcorn removed. They are a QUALITY company!!!! read more

I really wanted to like these guys because of their Yelp ratings... So, I called Nick on Friday before New Year's and he was on his way out to play golf. But he assured me he would get back to me the very next day if I texted him my request and photos, which I did within 10 minutes. He seemed so eager to quote on the whole job, it seemed strange that I never heard from him on Saturday. Not a call or even a text. Thinking I'd give him another day or so, since it's a holiday weekend, I texted him Saturday evening, asking to hear back on Monday morning. I still haven't heard from him several days past the holiday. I have now chosen another company that came out to view the project, and responded quickly with the estimate. We've scheduled the job and they will get my 5-star review. Sorry Nick... "You snooze, you lose!" read more

Don't bother looking elsewhere. I had a room I wanted done before the holidays and Blue Sky was the first company I found. Since we wanted it smooth, we were just really looking to have the popcorn scraped and we would finish the job. When the team arrived a few days later they were prepped, working, and cleaned up in the largest room in my house in under 1.5 hours. I was amazed. The group that did the work was friendly, helpful, and respectful of our home. Everyone I have dealt with from the representatives answering the phones, to the assessment, to the actual job being done was all top notch. I plan on having them back after the holidays to do my bedroom. Oh and they are very affordable! Look no further. Call them! read more

Everyone I spoke to from this company was extremely professional and nice. The knockdown on the ceilings looks great. Unfortunately, they stripped paint in every room and left 'droppings' all over the house. A week after the completion of the job, we are still finding pieces of knockdown and dripped paint where we had missed it the first time we cleaned. We were told by the salesperson that the paint might come off in certain areas due to the painter's tape. Not only did paint come off, they stripped the crown mounding in three rooms down to the bare wood. I spoke to one of the owners of the company and he sent two painters the next day to try to repair the damage. Although they touched up all over the house, the knockdown is still on the walls below the ceiling and we're still finding paint and knockdown on furniture and other belongings. I had to throw a curtain away because there was so much knockdown on it. After being told that they prided themselves on being so clean that we wouldn't know they had been there, it is ironic that not one room was clean and 100% professionally completed. Friends came over to see the work and although the ceilings looked good, after they saw the knockdown on the walls below the ceiling-and the mess- they decided against using this company. read more

I contacted Blue Sky and exchanged about a dozen text messages until I finally had to call them, as I was driving. Afterwards they asked that I fill out a questionnaire on their website, which I did. That was it! Never heard back. I sent a text and no response. Issue may be that I wanted an in-person estimate; instead they wanted pictures and an estimate over the phone. Be aware, this can become a problem. Regardless, they never had the courtesy to return my call or respond to my questionnaire. A waste of my time.
