Most people I've talked to here in Bangor are big fans of Blue Sky, and now I am one too. It's a cozy cafe tucked away off High Street (look for the sidewalk sign to find it). Up the stairs and into what feels like a tree house! There are lots of windows so it's bright and airy, but warm too.
Grab a table (note its number for when you order at the counter), and take a look at the menu, which is also in Welsh. It has lots of vegetarian options, a wide variety of both food (sandwiches, salads, pasta) and drink (lots of delicious teas, coffee). I got a very tasty veggie ciabatta.
Blue Sky seems to have a motley patronage, from moms w/ kids to students, musicians to professionals on lunch break, which just goes to show you how popular the place is. However, it's still intimate and the service is good. And happily, it is the site of lots of local events/groups (such as music, weekly writing/poetry meetings). It encourages a sense of community.
[A strange side note for anyone who's been to Asheville, NC: this looks like a place right out of their downtown. Complete with hippies. Excellent!]
So, for those looking for tasty, affordable food in a charming, relaxed atmosphere, this is the place for you :) read more
