I ordered soap from this place, and I haven't gotten it yet and it's been a month. Of course I already had to pay and add shipping, but no product. I have emailed multiple times with no response of any kind. I have also called during their operating hours, and all I get is a stupid recording saying leave a message, but the inbox is always full and can't receive new messages. I guess I'm going to report to BBB and see about doing a charge back on him. Don't know what else to do. Great find! If you visit in person, don't expect a fancy store in a retail strip. This is a true entrepreneur enterprise from their farmhouse at the end of a gravel road. But don't let the appearance fool you. If you are really looking for a great soap, they have it, from insect repellent soap, to medicinal soaps! What a delightful man! We went when they were closed due to the COVID Pandemic, but happened to pull up while Tim was in the driveway getting ready to leave. He patiently told use they were closed, but would go get us anything we wanted. I explained I was looking for something for dermatitis. After a few more questions, he went inside and returned with a $15 bag of remedies. Then we struck up a fascinating, 30 minute conversation on how they got into the business. Great place for scented soaps. Met the owner and they run the business out of their home, everything is made on the premises she gave us a rundown on how the soaps were made. Ingredients in the soap for any skin irritations you might have. A bit pricey for scented soaps but looking forward to using in my next shower. read more

So, while visiting family in the northern part of texas I got a room at a nice little hotel called the red lion inn. The complementary soap they offered was a odd mixture... Charcoal, tea tree, and lavender. I was blown away by how clean it made me feel, and how it also didn't dry my skin out... I had to get more. Imagine my diappointment when I found that the soapery that made it only sold wholesale. So a few more mouse clicks led me to the website for The Blue Ridge Soapery. I saw they had a soap for sale using the same three main ingredients. I immediately placed an order! Im hindsight I probably should have signed up rather than checked out as a guest. I was a little worried when I didn't get a tracking email, but a quick email to them recieved a fast response! My soap was sitting in my PO box, and I went to pick it up. The box was well packaged, and the soap smells amazing... Even better than the other brand, and it gives that same extreme clean feel, and without drying my skin. Amazing as always. We've come here the last 7-8 years or so, every Fall we visit this part of the mountains, and then order from the website several times in between. Their handmade soap is the best we've ever tried - which is why we don't try anybody else's anymore and stick with The Soap Shed. Tim and Karen really know their stuff. Not just about their own 100+ types of soaps, but about skin care and who is likely to enjoy different scents. That really helps when you are trying to select gifts for different people and don't really know what they will like. Both of them were educators, and it shows. They don't try to sell you anything, they just try to help you determine what's best for you and your skin. It's how shopping used to be. 6 of us went to the soap shed on Saturday. Our plans were to by early Christmas presents. I thought it was 10 am when store was to open so I rang the bell. ( 10 min till 10). My friend who shops there regularly did not realize I had rang the bell and rang the bell again. The owner came to door and started yelling at us. My friend apologized twice but the man kept ranting. Will not go there again. I figure he lost approx 500.00 that day and many thousand over the next few years for his behavior. I told my friends from NY that all southern people were not rude like he was. This was their 1st time coming to NC mtns. Just wanted to buy our favorite soaps. read more

I first went to the Soap Shed with they first opened for business. My Mom lived about a mile from the Soap Shed and we visited whenever we were in Spruce Pine. These are really good soaps and are wonderful to use and give as gifts. The sample packs are great as you can try out several different ones. It's a funky place, with nice folks. I discovered this place about 10 years ago when spending the summer in western N.C. Purchased a lot of soaps that day, all of which were wonderful, and have purchased others online many times since then. Their "Poison Ivy Soap" has been a savior to me for the past 10 years. I am a gardener, but I'm prone to terrible reactions to all kinds of irritant plants. I used to get a bad reaction every year (even though I was careful to avoid plants I knew would cause problems) that would take me to the doctor and require a course of steroids.
