My…read moregroup and I are not professional climbers, and in fact, this was our first rock, climbing experience. As they say, go big or go home! The via ferrata was like a dream. Climbing up on the rungs on the side of a thin rock face, going high up into the fog will certainly get your adrenaline pumping. The views are spectacular and unreal. At times, it was scary, but both guides were calm and reassuring, helping us navigate this intricate course. Well worth the ticket price to experience this once in a lifetime adventure. If you are afraid of heights or are not having fun, there are two exit points that the guides will happily take you to. I recommend pushing yourself and giving this a try. This was definitely outside of my comfort zone, and I'll cherish the experience (and muscle soreness) forever!

We learned about the caves and how they were formed, proper gear and safety procedures, navigation in the caves, and ways to help fellow team members in the cave. We turned out our head lamps and experienced total darkness. Lester did a great job of breaking it down and making everything understandable to our younger scouts. This is worth the cost and is affordable for what you experience. Warning: this is not a tourist cave with lights and massive groups walking around, this is an amazing underground event, crawling, squeezing through tight spaces, pulling yourself and team over ledges and walls. Look forward to our next trip.

He taught us how to safely spot or catch someone in front of us if they're falling back, he taught us the different whistle signals used, and how to use a compass! I had no idea that I didn't even know how to use a compass in the first place. Once he navigated us about halfway to our ending point, he had one of us navigate the rest of the way using the cave map and our compass, and then had us switch on the way back (there were 2 of us). We had never caved before, but he saw that we are the active type, so he not only led us horizontally through spaces, but we also got to go vertical and climb up and down spaces. I couldn't stop raving about our experience afterwards. This tops the list of most exciting things I've ever done, and most unique as well because I can't say I know anyone else who has ever done caving. On our way home, we stopped by Luray Caverns and it was really cool walking through with newfound appreciation. We were able to point out things and appreciate how it was formed in ways we never would have beforehand. The only issue is we wished we could have strayed off the beaten path and explore more nooks and crannies the public doesn't get to see! If you're questioning whether to book a tour with Wild Guyde, I would without a doubt recommend it. If you think you might get claustrophic, I had the same fear going into this, but the cave is very open and even when you're crawling you still have plenty space around you that you don't feel trapped. Plus, you don't have to do anything you don't want to or feel comfortable with! I promise you won't regret it.

We signed up for the Learn to Lead class about a month ago and had to reschedule because the…read moreweather forecast for the original weekend seemed terrible. Rescheduling was very easy, and the school was responsive via email and phone. We ended up taking the class with "Uncle Garry", how the other guides seem to call him. Garry was patient, knowledgable and ready to adapt the lesson to our knowledge and specific needs. He also seemed to truly enjoy climbing out there, and offered to stay out climbing for "as long as there was light", which was pretty awesome (given that it's winter). On Sunday, it was windy and cold (it even snowed a little), but he also took us out of the school and, again, always checked on us to make sure we had plenty of opportunities to mock lead and learn, and were also having a good time. The school is awesome. I previously thought that it would be a bit of a waste of time to spend any time learning at the school instead of out climbing, but I was wrong. Garry, Massey and Tom went over a lot of trad and lead climbing techniques that also adapted to our needs. I learned SO much. But the best part of being at the school, was seeing "Uncle Garry" wear his amazing green wool sweater. A wool sweater? You might think I'm crazy, but you had to be there. Garry owns the most magnificent piece of clothing that I've seen in my life. This green (pine colored?) sweater screamed "fall" and "nature" all over, taking us back to the origins of happiness. It's that genuine fashion that gets lost and under-appreciated in big cities and by modern civilization. I'm not surprised that Garry never seemed to get cold, that sweater looked so warm and soft that it must have felt like a hug from god himself. It also seemed to be extremely appropriate for climbing. Needless to say that the other guides did not seem to appreciate it as much. I mean, this sweater can't be comprehended by the simpler minds. Overall, great professional/knowledgable instructors. Five stars!

Rock Solid. First time visit…read more All the usual feel of a ling-running guide service at a remote outpost. Dimly lit headquarters, guide tents, bathroom that beats any tented alternative, mounds of gear and stickers, and all the needed kit-- across the road from Yokum's tourist/ redneck / passing-throughs (and a bit to radically tatooed supremacist 4x4 rider). None of this matters. Got a guide for the day ('S'), who took me around the Rocks, from easy to intermediate/pumped out forearm failure, and walls and summit ridge climbs. Awesome rock, great guide, and some geology learned. Solid Rock. Beat it, be beaten. It's all the same. It ends with an ice cream sandwich at Yokum's after a mercifully short approach back on a hot day.

I've climbed with Seneca Rocks Mountain Guides on 3 occasions. The 1st was the Intro to Trad course…read more(near DC), the 2nd was the Top Ropes and Anchors course (near DC), and most recently a RoadTrip that consisted of climbing Nelson Rocks and summiting Seneca Rocks. I enjoyed all 3 of my times with this company and the RoadRTrip was especially memorable. I pitched my tent at Basecamp and it was such a wonderful experience. There is an outdoor shower, a bathroom with running water and lights, and there is an indoor/outdoor kitchen with appliances including a stove/oven and a refrigerator. Tom is amazing and very welcoming. They keep you well fed on Saturday and Sunday to fuel you for the climbs that await you. Everything is well organized and the guides are superb. They know the craft, they know the rocks/routes, and they are genuinely amazing people. I never once felt unsafe. This was also my 1st multi-pitch climb and I felt so accomplished atop Seneca Rocks South Peak- there was even a drone that captured us

A great little ropes course for having fun in Luray…read more There's a moment when climbing when I realized "wait, I didn't have to sign a waiver for this. Either they're reckless, or so confident in their course that I must be safe." Needless to say, I felt safe on the course. I weigh over 200 lbs. and the harness held me when I hung on without putting my feet on the ground. Also, the tracks are designed that the only openings for you to come off is at the entrance and exit. There's a great little training course just a couple feet off the ground. A good place to start with children and understand how to move the harness around when encountering other climbers so you can pass the other without getting harnesses tangled. There are various challenges throughout the course that range from easy to moderately challenging. These include static beams, to tightrope walking, or to swaying bridges or ropes. I wouldn't say anything is too hard. I think the Level 1 challenges were a little more manageable than the ones higher up on Level 2. The only one that genuinely scared me was a Level 2 spot to walk out on a beam, out over everything else (spoiler, the beam rocks up and down). The whole course crisscrosses so you can skip one challenge and still get to another one past it, and there are two staircases for moving between Levels 1 and 2. Fair to say, this is not for people with a fear of heights. Child #2 preferred the lower level, though he tried a few higher up. Child #1 is fearless and did most challenges 2 or more times. It was windy that day, so it was a little more daunting at times. One guy passed us on the way down from Level 2, clearly a little nervous. No judgment here. Know your limits! If it's not too crowded, you could do the whole course in 25 to 30 minutes, but we spent about an hour up there and had loads of fun. Would absolutely go again.

During my visit, I witnessed the course operator make a female guest cry. Her child (maybe 5 yrs…read moreold) was new to the country and didn't speak English very well. He came to the exit and the operator disconnected him before his parent could explain that he couldn't get back on. When the mother asked for an exception due to the language barrier, she was told that if he's going to be in America then he need to speak English. He then left his post to confront another guest who was nearby that told him his behavior was very rude. She told him to get out of her face and to walk away and he refused. Meanwhile, there are multiple people waiting to exit the course because he was too preoccupied trying to intimidate a woman. I've never seen an employee represent a tourist attraction so poorly. My family and I won't be coming back nor will I encourage any of my friends to go. But if you're looking for something new with a side of sexism and racism, have at it.

Go straight for the rock top view. Then back track to the sign and follow another mile to a cliff hang out. Amazing. So then my red flags started going off. I was the only car in the lot. Im hiking all alone......I started to frak myself out a little due to the trail after the views becoming thin and obviously less traveled. Big rocks fit for wild cats and lots of berry trees for bears.... even worse, I thought about bad humans...Sadly but smartly I turned around and hiked back to the car. My friends and I went right when they opened at 3 p.m. on a Friday in October. Here's our experience: 1) Instructions: Two staff members taught us how to tie knots, belay, etc. Once we had the hang of it, they stayed with us to make sure we were climbing safely and/or had any questions. They were great instructors and very personable. 2) Walls: There are four different climbing walls and three ropes. Two walls you can climb without roping in and two others you rope in. (One had an automatic belay machine.) If it's your first time, but you want to climb high, go to the tallest wall and follow the blue markers. 3) Space: It's in the space that was the stage of an old theater. It's kept clean and comes with a training area, restrooms, changing rooms, etc. 4) Staff: When you check in, they give you shoes to climb. (There are cubbies to place your shoes in.) If you didn't sign a waiver online, they'll have you sign when you enter. Every staff person we met was very nice and helpful!

We booked in for the kids Ninja and Nerf gun battle for our 10 year olds bday. Attendees included a…read more6 year old up to 14 year old and myself and another adult also participated. Our leader, Rocky, did an excellent job keeping the kids active, engaged, and having a great time. Our group was a smaller group and it was worth it - the kids had plenty of room to spread out and take their time with all of the stations Rocky set up. The kitchen and food area was perfect to host pizza, drinks, and cake. The gym and food area were clean and easily accessible. We'd definitely book this type of kids party again - the boys all had a great time :)
