Our first view walking into the tipi made my heart sing. Beautifully decorated inside. It has a kitchen area with electricity. They have an electric teapot. Perfect for a spot of hot tea. I brought a cooler with plenty of frozen water in ziplock bags for cold drinks. I made cocktails every night. Next the tipi has a wood burning stove. And a whole bunch of already chopped wood. We have a wood burning stove at home so we brought paper and pine cones with a bag of sticks just to make it easy starting and keeping fires going. We needed and loved the wood burning stove. Kept us super cozy for our whole stay. The bed was super comfy and they had plenty of blankets. My favorite was the cool lighting they used. I just felt like we were in a fairytale. Outside there were chairs around a fire pit and we sat out under the gorgeous stars and made s'mores. During the day we went around town and played mini golf and tried out a few restaurants. There is lots to do around town. There is even a trail in the woods on the farm. Oh yes. When you enter the tipi they have a book you must read to know everything about your tipi experience. After that we hung out in the hammock. So calming watching the trees sway while listening to birds We like staying when it is a little chilly because there are less bugs. There is no running water. So there is an outhouse. But it is great because it is clean and has a mirror. They also have a solar shower. I'm not the biggest fan just because that water is kinda cold to me but it certainly made it a hilarious memory. My suggestion do not add much soap. I did shower every night and felt clean and refreshed after the solar shower. My husband is not a camper but he loved this. We both had a fantastic stay. Oh one last note. I prefer very quiet while sleeping so I always bring earplugs. You are in nature

We rented the "Eagles Landing" tipi for a quick MLK weekend trip. This was such a cool adventure! I…read moremean that in multiple ways, because it was also cold during our weekend. I would recommend planning your tipi weekend during warmer months, unless you're lucky enough to bring someone who will wake up every hour or two to keep the fire going when temperatures are in the teens. (Also, bring extra blankets.) I think the fire would keep the tipi pretty dang warm when temperatures are in the 30s and 40s, but below freezing you'll have to put a little more effort in to be comfortable. All of that aside- this was still a five-star experience and a memory I'll never forget! You can pull your car right up to the tipi which makes unloading things easy and convenient for locking up your valuables when you go explore. The Eagles Landing Tipi had a really comfortable queen bed and a pull out couch. I loved the decorations around the tipi. The pot belly stove gets hot enough to cook all your meals, you just may need a little bit of patience. The tipi has just about all the cookware you could need, but my travel companion/personal chef was glad he brought his own cast iron skillet. If you can see in my pictures, he was able to cook quite the feast with everything provided. Washing the dishes is a little tricky since the sink isn't very deep, but it all worked out. There is an outdoor shower and an outhouse. I've never seen an outhouse so nice though! I know that is weird to say and I forgot to get a picture. They really paid attention to detail when decorating each part of this rental. We didn't use it, but there is also a place for a fire pit outside. There isn't any wifi, but I was pleasantly surprised to have cell service all weekend. It was still more fun to be off the grid for a little bit though. The tipi is on a farm property which means there was basically a petting zoo just a short walk away. They ask that you don't go into the fenced areas, but all the animals were happy to come over to get love (or more likely to eat food if we had any to give them). There were trails to explore behind the property and lots to do in the surrounding area. Grocery stores are nearby if you forgot something and several restaurants if you don't feel like cooking. I recommend visiting the Liberty SnowFlex for a hot chocolate and front row seat to the sunset. There are a ton of trails that branch off from there as well. We did start to run low on firewood, but they were happy to bring us more before our last night. No complaints! This was such a cool, unique experience. I hope to return one day!

It also has a general store selling high priced items like sodas, beer, ice cream, hamburgers, canned goods and kitsch. It is situated next to Jefferson State Park, accessed by a 1.5 mile narrow (barely two-lane) road. We were assigned to a shady pull through with water and electric. However no WiFi , no TV reception and no cable. The bathhouses and showers are tired and need some help. The toilets themselves are clean, but the floor is unfinished cement, painting is definitely needed, one of the three showers had no shower head, only a pipe, and the grout in the ceramic tiles on the walls and floors were dirty. Quite a few full time RVers have made this their permanent home. So far, the only bugs we've encountered are gnats and bees. No mosquitoes which is a good thing. Lots of hummingbirds as well.

There's a few ways you can take them in, including a walk or picnic around the lake, a meal or stay in the lodge, camping, and/or hiking up the mountains. Sharp Top has a shuttle that takes you within 1,500 feet of the summit. Ahead of visiting, I didn't do sufficient research, but I will say they should add to the Peaks' website to be a little more clear about the hike level. The website currently states this: "Not everyone can hike a nearly 4,000-foot mountain, but it would be shame to deny anyone the view, so we provide transportation to within 1,500 of the scenic summit!" With that in mind, I thought the last portion (quarter-mile each way) would be fairly easy. It was not. My mom immediately took the shuttle back down to ground level upon seeing the trail, but I proceeded. On the way up, I was able to follow some other hikers, so it wasn't as daunting. On the way back down, I was solo. Lots and lots of steps, narrow path at times, very uneven with many rocks to contend with. Not for the faint of heart! I don't regret the hike at all. The view from the top of Sharp Top was nothing short of incredible. I hadn't climbed a mountain in any capacity since college, so while it was challenging, it also felt like such a feat to complete it without hurting myself. I was really proud of myself. I only wish I was better prepared -- so for those interested in the hike: bring water, possibly a walking stick, and really good shoes. Oh, and bug spray. The summit was fillllled with flies. No one on the shuttle down had spotted any bears, but I hear they're pretty prevalent along with snakes, deer, and other wildlife. After the hike, I stopped by the visitor center and purchased both a shirt and a stuffed otter (so cute). My cat thinks the otter is his new toy, but for me, it's a nice reminder of the day I randomly and safely climbed to a summit, unprepared and solo.
