The campground is rustic, and tucked away into a forest. It is far away from any freeway or civilization and is peacefully quiet. There is no ambient light here so the stars put on quite a show each evening. Each site has a fire pit and a picnic table. All spaces are graveled drives. It does have a swimming pool, a catch and release pond a swimming pond and a creek running through the property. It also has a general store selling high priced items like sodas, beer, ice cream, hamburgers, canned goods and kitsch. It is situated next to Jefferson State Park, accessed by a 1.5 mile narrow (barely two-lane) road. We were assigned to a shady pull through with water and electric. However no WiFi , no TV reception and no cable. The bathhouses and showers are tired and need some help. The toilets themselves are clean, but the floor is unfinished cement, painting is definitely needed, one of the three showers had no shower head, only a pipe, and the grout in the ceramic tiles on the walls and floors were dirty. Quite a few full time RVers have made this their permanent home. So far, the only bugs we've encountered are gnats and bees. No mosquitoes which is a good thing. Lots of hummingbirds as well. read more

I am saddened by my visit this time. The two days I spent there, I heard nothing but chainsaws and constant lawnmowers and other power tools until 7pm. People had to wait to use the bathroom. The litter around the campgrounds was abundant, especially in the pond behind the cabins. I will probably find another campsite after 3 years of staying at this place. read more

Enjoyed our stay at Middle Creek (which is located in a national forest). The staff was welcoming and very accommodating from the moment we arrived to our departure. Our site was exactly as described; Electric and water - a table and a fire pit. The campground had firewood for sale. We felt safe and had a relaxing evening and night there. There is a convenience store with all your basics (and even a little more). The property was well-cared for and maintained nicely. We'd definitely go back again - recommend it! read more

Nice campground in the hills of the national park. Since the kids in the area went back to school on 8/10 we had the whole place pretty much to ourselves. No crowds at all on weekdays. While this seems like a great campground, their management team is terrible. We booked a single night on Friday, the first night of the 4th of July holiday. I advised the lady who took my reservation that we were just passing through on our travels northward. I explained we would be a late arrival. She said, "no problem, I'll leave your information on the late arrival box next to the office. We arrived at 8:30 pm. The campground was very full, I could hear music and it seemed like a great place. However, no information in the late arrival box. I looked at my confirmation letter and it said to just look for a spot. We have a large RV. Hard to find a spot in an unfamiliar park in pitch darkness. Also, no map was attached to our confirmation letter. So a nice young man asked his parents to help us. They gave us their map and we were able to find a spot. No help from the camp authorities. Not really sure it was safe but we were tired and we left early the next day. Were there even campground authorities on site? I would avoid this campground at all costs if you want to feel safe! read more

We stayed at this campground Labor Day 2020 and didn't have many complaints other than the camping spots are right on top of eachother to the point our canopy was touching the campers slide out that was next to us. We enjoyed our stay and decided we would come back again. The woman owner is the biggest problem with this place and is most rude person I have come in contact with. Arriving Memorial Day 2021, we had received an email to check in online so I went ahead and checked in since we knew where our spot was as we stayed in the exact spot the previous year so I wanted to make things easier. We got to the spot and went ahead and backed in since I had already checked in online. Our friends who had already been at their spot earlier that day came to ours to help us get everything set up. After getting things part of the way set up I decided to go into the office to get our wrist bands that you're required to wear. As I am walking in the owner (which is known for being overly rude) says "I'm not playing these games, they're not getting away with this stuff" storms out of the door and heads to our camp site, which at the time I didn't know because I was getting our bands. I head back to our camp spot where I see her yelling at my fiancé and the people helping us set up. The way she was talking to everyone was absolutely nasty. I'm guessing she assumed that we brought everyone in our camper and we're "sneaking" them in when in all reality they had been there for hours before we arrived and had their own spot. The people in the camper beside us told my fiancé he could park his truck there and she yelled at him saying "I don't care what he said but you didn't pay to park on his spot so you need to go in there and pay" granite money is not an issue and we were more than happy to pay but he didn't know he had to pay for his truck to be parked right beside us since we paid 170 to stay there and it wasn't enough room for his truck and the guy told him it was fine. It would have been totally different if she would have came up to us and had an adult conversation and asked if everybody had come with us instead of being an absolute bitch and yelling at all of them and assuming the wrong thing. We continued to get harassed the whole weekend and constantly had to listen to our friends telling us all of the crap she was talking about us to other campers not knowing that they were also staying there because of us. She had the security guy (which he was so generous and loved us) come to our specific spot to see people who had come up a day after us, wrist bands even though they weren't registered under our spot. She should have respectfully sent him to the spot that they were registered under instead of sending him directly to our site. Also she made it very clear the first day that wrist bands were require (clearly because she yelled at us when we got there) but our friends who were staying in a tent site up the hill continuously walked into the office while she was in there all weekend without their wrist bands and she never said a word to them about putting them on. She would ride by several times just staring and giving us dirty looks. The only thing that made the weekend enjoyable was the people we were with and the other campers around us because they were amazing and so friendly. And we had told our neighbors that if we were to get too loud or if we did something they didn't like to let us know. And they never once said anything to us and actually ended up coming over several times to hangout with us and we also would hangout with the people who were camping behind us. They were great people who enjoyed listening to music with us and we were thankful to have them around us especially with all of the stuff the owner was starting. The actual facility: the shower houses are absolutely disgusting. If you're not an average size person have fun trying to take a shower because it's very small and maybe a little bigger than the one in our camper. They are not clean at all and the bathroom stalls have absolutely no room. The swimming pond is not tend too and filled with algae all over it. And on a sunny day the pool is filled with the people who live there so good luck finding a spot there. There wasn't a sewage hook up on our spot so when we went to dump the sewage, the only tank to dump it in was full and it was coming up threw the grass. The camper sites are right on top of eachother and you will probably not have enough room for your set up if the camper beside you has slide outs. The harassment was not worth the money we paid. I recommend driving further and going to Jelly Stone, you will enjoy it a lot more especially if you have kids. read more

I leave Ohio and head to Middle Creek Campground in Buchanan VA at least a few times each year. The atmosphere is so family friendly, it's a gorgeous place to go, and I love that the cell and internet reception are unreliable-it's nice to disconnect from time to time! There is usually a cornhole game to join or watch...karaoke every weekend. The camp store has the basics and excellent food! read more

Let me start by stating that the male owner of Middle Creek was very helpful. However, the office staff is not knowledgeable of how hard it is to drive/park a 40ft motorhome. When making reservations back in March, I asked & was confirmed verbally for a full-hookup for a 40ft XSH site. I called a month later because I never received my email confirmation. When confirming my site again, they said the site they originally assigned me was not full hookup, and I told them that I had to have a full hook up. The girl said they had site #2 left which I again asked it would fit a 40 ft. XSH motorhome and they said yes. Arcadia Road that leads to the campgrounds is very narrow and is not ideal for larger motorhomes. When we arrived at the campgrounds, we hit a power cord that crossed over the road. In order to get to several of the sites, one must crossover a narrow 10 ft wide bridge that has a crack in the cement covering the bridge. Site #2 was only 40ft deep with a shed sitting on the back of the lot and has such a high grade that we asked if we could have site #1. Site #1 could fit the motorhome with a little extra room and it didn't have the high grade as #2. I was informed that someone was coming in any minute with a 44ft motorhome. I asked again if they had any other site because I don't want to park my motorhome on that slanted lot. They were very condescending and told me big rigs park there all the time. It was 6:00 p.m., I had drove 6 hours with the last 40 minutes driving up a very narrow road to get there; I was tired so we took the site. Between my daughter, niece and two great niece, I parked the motorhome by coming in sideways; making several three point turns. My front wheels were totally off the ground by the time we got done leveling. Site 2 should only have a trailer camper that is 30 feet or less. When my daughter and I went to settle up, the lady at the front desk said, "I can't believe you got that in there." Then they didn't even charge us correctly, my daughter kept correcting them and after all was done, they gave me $40 back in cash and not back on my card. When I went back at 7 pm to ask for help for wood and blocks, the two people in the office left right at 7 with no one available to help. They didn't even come out to ask us if we needed help before the left. Because everyone was upset, the office didn't give us any information about the park . . . no map, no wifi info, no emergency phone number. When I informed them about the power wire that I hit on the way in, they told be I had to call Dominion. The campground is nice. The pool was clean as was the pavilion. The pond that has the inflatables had some light green tint to the water and only two of us went in the pond. The inflatables were so hot that my great nieces burned her legs going down the slide. My daughter and nieces said the bathrooms were ok but the showers would run hot or cold depending on the stall next to you. We all took showers in the RV. There were three "camp" dogs running around freely around the park. One dog was so emaciated that you could see its bones sticking out of her skin. They would go around looking for food. The dogs very sweet but in need of a lot of care. We gave one dinner one night and it laid down to sleep on our rug. One night a lady riding around on a golf cart was looking for one of the dogs because she said he can get a little aggressive with the campers little dogs. When I shined my light on the dog Ginger that was at our site, she said not that one but she is probably "knocked up again". Our neighbors in lot #1, with a 44 ft. motorhome, came in a day later than us and left a day before us. They had a 5th-Wheel that was less than 35 ft long, not a 44 ft. that would have fit in lot #2. I don't understand why they would not switch us. On Monday when we had to leave, my motorhome received about $1,000 worth of damage to the right back underside because of the slant of the lot. We tried to come off sideways and no matter what I did, I was going to suffer some type of damage. We had to stop on the flat road so we could put the mudflap back on because it got ripped off. While my daughter and I were underneath the RV, two teen age boys came by and asked if we needed help. We said yes and that we needed the owner. The male owner came to help us and was very kind. We told him about our concerns when we first came and that I really wanted lot #1 but was told no. He gave us all of our money back and was very sorry for our trouble and damage. Good Sam members who have a motorhome larger than 30ft, this is not the campgrounds for you. My daughter had to drive in front of me on the way out of the park because of the narrow road to stop and warn anyone coming around the side of the mountain. The surround area was beautiful and we will be back but not to this campground. read more

We have been camping at Middle Creek many years. The fact that it is off the beaten path IS why we love it so much. We go there to get AWAY from the cellphones, TVs and city noise and enjoy just relaxing. It is family oriented and we feel that is so important. We wouldn't think of camping anywhere else. If you want a peaceful place to camp, that is actually near the forest & not the interstate - this place is perfect. They were very accommodating and our 35 foot RV fit nicely in the pull-thrus along the road. Our grand-kids loved the pool and the dock in the pond. I wish we could have stayed longer, but the road was calling! Great place, would highly recommend. read more
