We found this gift shop via a walkabout of the shops, sights, and sounds of a portion of the Harbourfront Walkway. A small and rather 'cute' place, offering a very decent selection of affordable gifts and such. But have to admit, it was the name of the shop that really caught 'my' interest, and beckoned me inside. Having lived several years in Newfoundland, and now here in Nanaimo - how could I resist! The ladies enjoyed their browsing, while I enjoyed chatting with the owner. Nothing bought (some "fun & funky" acrylic slugs sure came close!), but regardless, a fun and enjoyable visit before we headed south.

There were several people helping us find things and telling us about what things were in the different sections of the store. One extra helpful lady helped clarify shirt sizing before we made a mistake (women's cut vs unisex)! I wish they had more stuff exclusively made in Canada, and I wish they had a larger selection of maple candy brands (specifically more with just maple instead of dubious "flavoring"). The value seemed on par with what I would expect from a gift shop downtown. Nothing felt too too overpriced.

This place packs an astonishing variety of goodies into a remarkably small space, and the stuff they sell is really nice. Lots of it is locally made, including designs by local artists. I just marvelled at the taste, quality, and selection. It's almost a place that you could walk into blindfolded, pick something up at random, and it would be very appealing (at least to me). And, unlike the shops in Vancouver Airport or Toronto Pearson, the goods aren't ludicrously overpriced. The clerk was also vary patient with us as we wandered around the shop, poking and prodding at things, and piling our choices on the counter. I could almost say that it's worth going to Comox just to shop here, but there are so many other things to do and see in the area that that wouldn't be quite fair.
