I had seen the Terrace Motel in passing as I am a season pass holder at Dinosaur National Monument. It has always lead me to lose myself in my imagination to imagine it lit up on a sunset night in the 1950's! And even today it always appears iconic and steadfast in this stark environment. I was so excited about my trip and nerding out for an entire week with paleontology. Today my booking was canceled. When I made my arrangements I failed to mention I travel with my two small dogs. And some establishments don't accept pets. They have their rights to their policy and a good customer would accept and respect the rules of the establishment. It would be unfair to make an exception to my fellow customers and being dishonest and trying to hide my fur babies is just NOT my style. The owner is such an endearing woman. She has a kind demeanor and is an inspiration to me because she is a female owner! The grace with which she handles potentially uncomfortable situations is so smooth. In the end she gave me a full refund (even though I was culpable) and welcomed me back again when I come to Dinosaur minus the fur babies. I plan on returning because of the amazing impression I had with the way they handle undesirable situations. It must be glorious when all is well. Also the standard of cleanliness is principally important to these people. And they really care about the health and well-being of ALL. Thank you kindly.

The booking agent was very nice and helpful. This is a no frills hotel. The sheets are clean, but there is a lot of dust coming out of the air conditioner. I would give it one star but the office staff were helpful.

When planning to stay again this wk. we found out they're NOT honoring the rates we had in previous mo's. Also. The ENTIRE front desk help is no longer there. It was comforting to have established relations w/ familiar faces/ voices and accommodating employees making you feel WELCOMED BACK! After getting the VERY strong impression from new Mgmt. that is "take it or leave it" approach and "we don't price match" and if your a corp./ business guests we will arrange a "standard rate" w/ you. What kind of response is that when calling to familiarize w/ new staff & mgmt??? Uh, NO thanks! Sad but we'd rather know this before actually checking in/ out to find how new mgmt is! Previous stays were rated 5 stars, ea. visit, but NOW had to give at least 1 star to post my experience now under new mgmt. A remnant of days gone by. A hanger-on, with a firm grip on the past. They still use pen to paper registration slips, and you'll get a smile from the owner as you're filling it out. You, too, will smile when you see how reasonable the room rates are. My charge for the night was a mere $74 and change. Almost unheard of in these inflated times. My room was small and comfortable. I, being the only occupant, found it to be perfect for my needs. Stunningly clean and well-appointed. Your host, if asked, will steer you in the right direction for a delicious meal. And if that direction is toward the Mexican House restaurant, you're in for a real treat. Outstanding!! Quick Tip: Having been built back in a time when people were more considerate, you may find that the walls are a might bit thin. These days, an unrestrained couple next door has the potential of keeping you entertained during the night, early morning, late morning, and if your stay includes it, early afternoon! I remember those days, and am not against being reminded of them from time to time. What the heck, they haven't planted me yet.
