We just adopted a puppy from Blue Moon Meadows. From start to finish, it was a very positive experience. We felt the owner was very caring about arranging a good puppy/owner match. She provided us with thorough information, gave us opportunities to ask questions, and meet our puppy, at our convenience. I am shocked at how unprofessional this experience has been. We had started the process of adoption in good faith with Dee. We told her we were very much wanting to adopt the little Chihuahua we had visited with. We asked her to let us know each step of her adoption process. She called our vet, set a time for a home visit, causing us to think we were adopting this little pup. The day before our anticipated home visit, she sent an email saying the dog had been adopted by someone else! We were strung along as though we were in the process of adopting the dog we wanted, and she adopted it out to someone else, with no explanation. We had the best experience, you can tell they care so much about finding the right fit for these dogs. They are selective and have a process in place for a reason! Once I seen all the time and effort that is put in, the process made sense. From communication to the meet n greet and take home of our dog they were very informative and caring. My last pup passed away two weeks ago. We had many years together and so I decided to go looking for another. I have yet to speak to Blue moon meadows. The emails go back and forth but when asked various questions they never get answered. I submitted all the required info and did my homework. No voicemails either. I am so glad I am not the only one having issues. I have scads of experience with rescues, as a foster too. This is so unprofessional. The mission on their homepage appears to be totally different from the actual one. I am not going to go anywhere near that place without some answers and far as processing my application I would be surprised if they looked at it. I have heard nothing from my refences, vet or groomer. And no direct contact from Dee either. We all love our pets or we would not be thinking of getting another. So I made a screen shot and sent it to her. Nothing and its on her web page. I am saddened that this has gone on and on but I am glad I went into this thoughtfully. You can spend a lot of money on vet bills and adopting. You should expect some answers. And this is not the only "agency" I have run into either. I do not recommend them at this point. Investigate them as well as they investigate you. At this point I am disheartened but it might be better to just buy from a breeder where if you get the right one you have some actual protections. read more

I have adopted two dogs from Blue Moon Meadows over the years. They were/are both good dogs with wonderful personalities. The first one was receiving treatment for heart worm when I took her and Dee was wonderful about picking up the dog to take her for the treatments at the vet while I was unavailable at my job. I was made part of all decisions about the dog's care and shared none of the expense of treatment. When special vet diet was necessary, Blue Moon provided it all for me. I couldn't be happier with how the adoption went. Though my lovely German shepherd only lived 4 years after recovering from the terrible disease, I wouldn't trade one minute I shared with her and I'm so happy I had the opportunity to know and love her! Additionally, I was fortunate enough to foster some dogs through Blue Moon after adopting my next pet. Every person who fosters, transports, processes applications, or performs home visits for prospective adopters is a volunteer. They are people who work hard at their jobs, take care of their families and their own pets, and then do all the duties necessary to keep a rescue and adoption service running. read more

Do not attempt to do business with Blue Moon Meadows. We were looking to complete our family with a second dog, named Rusty. We repeatedly contacted Dee who finally got back to me after one week. She sent an email asking me to send $25, complete the application, and pick a time to see the pup. After five emails and a phone call (and 2 weeks)--all unanswered by Dee--we gave up when we saw Rusty had been adopted. VERY unprofessional. read more

I'm going to keep my review very short and to the point. My experience is very similar to other reviews. On 12/31/19 I inquired about Snowflake through Petfinder, got a positive response a day later and asked to meet the dog. In the meantime, I filled out an application and paid the fee. 3 days later I finally got a response from Dee. "We did receive your application but Snowflake has an adoption pending. We will refund your app fee." Why would Dee tell me a dog is available for me to meet and then tell me 3 days later that it's not available? I don't expect a response and I'll be surprised if I get my fee back. read more

I paid $350 (plus the $25 application fee) for a dog that started snapping at people the week I brought him home. By the time a month had passed, he had bitten three people, and Blue Moon took no responsibility other than to connect me with their dog behaviorist and to tell me that if I couldn't keep him in my house I would have to find someplace that would board him - but that it was at my expense and it was my liability if he bit anyone there. They kept coming up with reasons why they couldn't take him back 'at this time'. The dog behaviorist told me that 1. his snapping was a characteristic of his breed; 2. that I introduced him incorrectly to people; 3. that people approached him incorrectly 4. that the vet who put a muzzle on him because he kept trying to bite her and her tech is a horrible vet, and should never have done that. In the end, after he bit the dog behaviorist, she told me that she had thought I made everything up, but now she realized that I had not...but she could not take him to her home because she would probably be bitten again. So, I ended up surrendering him to Lollypop Farm since the Blue Moon owner was on vacation for a month with no backup - and he was euthanized. So, that's what I got from Blue Moon Meadows for my $375. read more

Be careful dealing with this Rescue. They ask for a deposit and tell you that you will get it back if the adoption does not go through. GOOD LUCK getting your money back. Also; do not divulge any information regarding your pets you already own. Tell them that you do not own any other pets. It is not their business. They are very judgmental and will reject you without even a question after they take your money. Our family has ALL rescue animals. A cat that is 16, 2 dogs 15 and 4 years of age. All rescued from Lollipop Farm and another service that I cannot remember the name. But we were not good enough for this "do gooder". If you google them you will see other threads where people complain in blogs about the same thing. She is a thief operating under the auspice of being a dog rescue. Sure; they rescue dogs and find them homes but how much money do they make luring and rejecting people?? This company is not ethical. BEWARE read more

I am very upset with my experience with this organization. The ad for my dog said fully vetted and house trained. Two days after I got him, i spent 229.00 at the vet. The dog had an ear infection, his anal gland were full and he didn't have a heartworm test. I was also told by the foster mom that he was house broken, liked cars and walks. None of this is true. My dog is very fearful of everything. I need to contact a specialist to help me deal with his fears. While he is a sweetheart, he has many issues that I was not told about. After calling the owner, I did get my adoption fee back and I was told to "enjoy my free dog" It is very sad because it is not fair to the dog or the potential adoptive parents. There practices will cause dogs to be returned and put through more trauma. They do not do what their agency claims as far as knowing the dog up for adoption. My foster had the dog for 8 days only. Beware of this place, just be sure you know what you are getting. Very unethical. read more

I inquired about a dog named Olivia via Perfinder.com that is/was at Blue Meadows In Honeoye, NY. Bonnie B. responded in a timely manner and had me fill out the application to establish the date inquiry date to ensure that I'd be first to be able to adopt Olivia. We also agreed that myself, my husband and our dog would come to meet Olivia today, 3/24 at 1:30 pm. We set this up on 3/20. She confirmed that she got our application the morning of 3/21. She then emailed me again that evening telling me there was a person who had adopted from them before who now was in front of me and she'd let me know if our appointment was still on. No where in the rules on their website does it say anything about prior adoptees being able to cut in front of the current applicant. I find this unacceptable! I called and emailed Bonnie today, 3/24 to find out of what was going on with our appointment and she couldn't be bothered to answer either inquiry. In light of that I Googled the rescue for reviews and was taken back by all of the negative reviews regarding this particular rescue. Many had the same issue that I just had. At this point we're happy because it seems as though we dodged a bullet. This has truly soured us when thinking of trying for another adoption. It's ridiculous that you have to go through so much to adopt a dog (which is a good thing to do!) only to get stiffed by the rescue that's supposedly looking out for the animal. Very unprofessional on their part! I will be looking for our new puppy from a breeder. I'm not going to put myself through all of this again. My Blue Meadows rating negative 5 stars... read more
