Beautiful large natural lake fed by underground springs…read more Small nonmotorized boats allowed under 3hp. This lake arguably provides the largest & nicest ADA pier for fishing in the greater PDX area. Plenty of shoreline for bank fishing or launching a SUP. Peaceful ADA trail loop and picnic areas throughout. Gold level 18 hole disc golf course is very popular here. Dogs and other pets are not allowed to protect sensitive wildlife areas. $5 parking pass for the day.

I read that the homeowners took over the ownership and full maintenance of the SolarBee water circulation units that minimizes the issues of a stagnant body of water. Those machines have increased the bird and fish populations! The bike paths thru the park are fun and educational as well as an actual wildlife tour! Beavers, Nutria, jackrabbits, Bald Eagles, Ospreys, turkey vultures, coyotes, raccoons, egrets, blue herons, river otters, bass, trout, blue gill, crappies, huge carp, Canadian geese, many kinds of seasonal ducks and I can't name them all but there is more! Yep, it is a real piece of nature that is being preserved and shared with activities like water spray park, basketball, volleyball, frisbee, softball, and a full on certified world class disc golf course ... that's pretty impressive. Oh yeah, all kinds of room for picnics and by yourself or large groups. It's a good size park. It's fun to do whatever you feel like if you need some sporting equipment, some is supplied at the main office.

I recently camped here, and thought it was one of the best campgrounds I've camped at so far…read more Like most campgrounds in the area, this is primarily an RV campground, but they do have some space for tent campers, as well as a few first come first serve spots for cyclists and backpackers. I camped in one of the six tent spots, and it was really beautiful. It was heavily shaded, and basically right on the banks of the Columbia River. The park is popular for cyclists like myself because it is situated near the end of the Willamette Valley Bike Trail, a 135 mile scenic route. I rode like a few percent of it, and thought it was amazing. I will definitely be finishing that trail this year. The showers were free for registered campers, and were the closest thing to a real home shower I've experienced at any campground so far. I loved how the park was not too far from Portland, Salem, or the Columbia River Gorge. The park rangers were super helpful and informative. I had called with a bunch of questions after having a bad experience elsewhere, and a ranger reassured me they had "a tighter grip on things" at Champoeg, which seemed to be true. The only issue was that, around 3am, I woke up to what sounded like a rabid wolf. It literally sounded like I was for sure about to get eaten. I made a bunch of noise, but it didn't go away. I yelled to the other campers, "There's like, an angry dog outside my tent!?! This isn't anyone's dog, is it?" It turned out to be a raccoon with very labored breathing (along with two other raccoons who were breathing normally). I suspect maybe it had canine distemper. It was being aggressive towards me, specifically. I had to go sit in my car for a while till it left. I'm not sure whether this was because I had accidentally gotten sprayed by the agricultural fertilizer tractor on my way in, or because the camper next to me had left so much food out on her site (which she ended up putting away at 4am). There is a historic store in the park that sells blackberry sundaes that look amazing, but I wasn't able to make it in during their very limited spring hours (I think they closed at 2). Overall I loved everything except the raccoons and would absolutely camp here again.

We stayed here for two days and loved it. The entire property is amazing. Extra pluses of you love…read moreto play disc golf as the course is top notch and well kept. Probably one of the best courses I've played. The rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable. That's not too say they are perfect as they could use a little finish work, but I can overlook that with the amazing property. One thing I was disappointed with is that when we booked our stay everything said this was a Bed and "Breakfast". And there were countless reviews that said the breakfast was one of the highlights. We came expecting some delicious hot breakfasts to start our days, especially with a holiday where everything around was closed. Unfortunately, they recently changed to only providing continental breakfast... Not what I was expecting especially for a bed and breakfast that I feel I paid the premium for. This is a solid 4-star place but with the removal of hot breakfasts, I could easily have rated it as 3 instead. It wouldn't have been as big of a deal if we had been given a heads up before we arrived of the change, we could have planned ahead for it by bringing something to make our own. With that said, Adam goes out of his way to make sure you are well taken care of and comfortable the entire stay. They set up a grill so we could cook hamburgers and he was great to talk disc golf with. They also have a great spot to enjoy a fire, toast marshmallows, and make smores. They also have $5 pay to play if you just want to play disc golf and not stay at the inn.

There are disk golf spots everywhere, saw a few people playing. It's a lot of space to stroll, and has a kid playground with some fun equipment as well. And of course benches and picnic area. There is also a bridge that hovers over the train track, it's kinda cool to me to have that perspective of a view. There was a bit of industrial smell near there though. And beyond the bridge is a dog park area. Overall I like this park, very serene and tucked away. Ample parking, some closer some further. I will go back for sure.

Some trails are paved and others are dirt or small gravel, and all were an even surface and well maintained, so it would be doable with a stroller. There were some steep inclines, but they are a short distance and weren't difficult. The trails weave & intersect all throughout the park so you can choose easier paths without inclines if you have limited mobility. The park was very clean when we visited, too.
