All of the muscles in my legs are killing me right now need I say more?…read moreThe Pilates Soul Studio is a cute little gem in the heart of downtown Collingswood. I came here for their TRX class which was terrific. Because the room and class size is small you will get seriously individualized attention. Your form will be corrected, you will get direction & feedback to ensure that you don't hurt yourself and that you are getting the most out of your workout. My first class was free, I wanted to sign up for more immediately after the workout. I don't care how in shape you are - you'll be huffing & puffing here. Booking a space online is easy breezy & there is a MindBody app that makes it even easier from your phone - reserve your class early, they fill up fast!

I found Angela's studio through yelp and contacted her immediately. For me it was great to hear Angela was Polestar qualified, as my teacher in the UK is also Polestar trained! I am currently pregnant so wanted to make sure she was comfortable working with me. She replied shortly after and told me she's been working with someone who is due in the coming weeks. I immediately signed up for a class for the 1st day I was in town. Angela warmly welcomed me to her lovely and clean studio. She grabbed all my details and we got started. I signed up for an equipment class so expected more folks to turn up. However, she said she didn't have a minimum class size so I'd be getting a 1:1! It was a fantastic surprise. I had an amazing session with Angela. She kept me working hard the entire time. It was just what I needed after a long haul flight. I can't wait to get to my next class!

At the end of May 2023, the Sewell location (where I signed up) closed. When inquiring about a pro-rata refund multiple times, I was not able to get management to respond until I filed a complaint with the BBB and a credit card dispute. Their only offer was a membership transfer (to the Mullica Hill location, 25 minutes from my home). Beware of this establishment. Management does not do right by its members. EDIT: 11/28/2023 RESPONSE For the record, when I called today, it was a general number and I was told that someone would reach back out to me and that did not happen. I did not chargeback in error. I later cancelled the chargeback because KF said it would be contested since I was deemed not eligible for a refund by KF management. My only remedy at that point, then, was to cancel the chargeback and continue to use the Mullica Hill facility until the end of my prepaid membership. Also, the BBB remedy was rejected by me (and, to my knowledge, remains that way), which is why KF Mullica Hill was downgraded to an A- rating. My initial refund request should have been honored. The bottom line is: KF could not honor its obligation to me and the only remedy offered was to accept an unreasonable transfer. Imagine paying essentially $603.95 (deducting the $30.92/monthly fees from the equation) for a membership, only to be told a few months later that the location is closing, your membership will be cancelled, and your only option is to transfer to a location nearly a half hour away. Potential customers ought to know that this is how they can expect to be treated. Their money will gladly be taken, but they can expect inaction and unscrupulous business practices if a problem arises. This has been a nightmare of an experience and I truly wish your offer to address my concerns was in good faith. 11/30/2023 UPDATE The representative that I spoke to told me that disputing (having the credit card company review) any amount paid to the company would be immoral, and that saying I didn't receive services, as originally expected, makes me a liar. Apparently, I should have been content with losing all of my money or taking an unconscionable relocation as a courtesy. No addressing of concerns, just verbal abuse. This is the service you can expect.

Everyone is nice, hours are good. Pretty pricey, but I'm happy overall…read more .

I purchased a 5 class new student introductory offer and as of last week I completed my 5 classes…read more My thoughts...... First - barre was new to me and so I certainly wasn't use to this type of activity. For me, this was one intense workout that made me drip sweat like a land beast. I was sore after every class and really felt it in every muscle not just thighs or arms. Second - they have a lot of classes. You need early? They have early. You want late? They have that too. There is a class that will fit into your schedule and that's handy for someone like me whose work schedule isn't the same every day. Third - It's convenient and it's an attractive space in which to work out. Why does this matter? I don't know that it does, but so many people who write reviews always comment on the space if it's old, outdated, crusty, raggedy, etc. This place is new, modern, clean & cute. It's easy to get to, I never once had an issue with parking & there is a coffee shop literally 3 doors down for your post workout caffeine fix. Ok, so all that & only four stars? Well, it's small and the five classes I attended were all packed. I always felt like I was on top of someone or that I might kick someone if I didn't pay close attention. They don't have a changing room, I didn't know that for my first class & showed up in my work clothes & a gym bag. Their only restroom is inside the studio so you'll need to wait until class is over to go in there & change. That first time there was a queue of people who just finished working out waiting to use it and then me waiting like a dope to go change. I changed at work after that initial class. As a workout it is probably five stars, but as a whole, I never really felt fully comfortable there. I always felt like I was doing it wrong but seldom if ever got corrected. I always felt too clumsy, too sweaty, too frumpy, too fat, too much - but that's my own hang up not theirs. It's a great work out and fit in nicely between kickboxing & the gym. If you're going to give it a try, do yourself two favors - first, spend the $16 and buy the barre socks right away. Second, try to take at least one class with Marla - she was so encouraging and motivating, I wish she taught there more often but no matter who leads, you're going to get a great workout.

I committed…read moreto doing it, went online, found a location close to where I would be working today & signed up as a drop in. I have never ever taken a yoga class before so I signed up for a beginner class and I honestly don't know what I thought it was going to be.....but this wasn't it. First, I couldn't find the place. The gps kept saying arrived - but I didn't believe it because it kept taking me to a shopping center. I saw Kohl's, PetSmart and BurgerKing - no way would there be a yoga studio here. But there it was right next to the Spirit Halloween store with a sign as big as day. Ok so all that farting around looking for the place made me late. I walked in literally 3 minutes before the class started. I ran into a young woman who asked if she could assist me. After explaining that I was there for my first class and apologizing for walking in at the zero hour she told me she was the instructor and that she would wait for me while I changed. Ok - so far, so good. (For me anyway, idk about those 13 other people who had to wait for me) The studio is very clean, peaceful, spacious large windows covered with blinds to set the mood and a corner with mats, blankets, blocks & eye pillows in case you forgot yours. This is where it got a little confusing for me. I thought I would get a workout, I thought someone would correct poses & posture, I thought I would break a sweat or at the very least get a killer stretch. Nope, none of the above. The instructor was sweet and did say this was a beginners class which is what I wanted and she stated that she was pregnant and would be going slowly. Ok, all that's fine - but I'm sitting here wondering what I got out of that one hour class, did I do yoga? Or did I sit on a mat inhaling? On top of everything, $15 for a drop in seems pretty expensive when most other places charge between $7 and $10. I don't know if I'll be back. I kind of want to try a different instructor but am worried that if the class is like this one was, I'll be turned off to yoga. But at the same time, I don't like writing poor reviews and they offer so many classes that it could have just been a one off. There were 13 other people in that room so there is a really good possibility that it was just me and I probably just need more than just breathing.

Thrive Pilates & Yoga has the feeling of an original studio, in the best possible sense. It reminds…read moreme of Vira Yoga in SoHo, the first yoga studio I ever practiced in, which has long since closed but still sits in my memory as a certain kind of downtown wellness institution: essentialist rooms, serious teachers, and no need to announce its own taste. Thrive has a similar quality. It feels built from real experience rather than from a brand deck. Hally has clearly created this place with care and precision, and it is a gift to see a local Rittenhouse operator build something this thoughtful in Philadelphia. The studio is consistently clean, the desk team has always been professional, and the whole operation feels calm and well-held. The clientele adds a lot to the atmosphere, too. They seem like people who have been all over the world and seen the full continuum of people, places, and things, but would never tell you that; they just absorb it. I especially want to give real credit to Lisa Grunberger, one of the wisest yoga teachers I have ever encountered. My yoga journey started with Elena Brower, and Lisa reminds me of that same era of teachers: deeply wise about physiology, a lifelong student of the practice, and unusually perceptive about life. She embodies yoga in a way that feels earned, not performed. There is something very moving about watching someone age gracefully while still working hard to stay current, flexible, and fully alive in the work. Lisa's music deserves its own mention because it is extraordinary. Her class soundtracks map to an era just before music became fully digitized, when taste still had to be gathered, carried, and lived with over time. The tracks are rich, discerning, and never forced. I have had so many moments in her Friday midday class where I hear something and think, "Oh my gosh, this song is amazing" because the music is not just background; it quietly deepens the whole experience. Life and budget have shifted, so I have not been back to Thrive recently, but I know I will return when I can. Thrive has that low key, sophisticated, quietly chic feeling that never seems to be trying to sell itself. It feels more like an academy and a commune than a business, which is rare for a city studio. I admire what Hally has built here, and hope to return soon! Note: There appear to be two Yelp pages for the same business, listed as Thrive Pilates & Yoga and Thrive Pilates. I'm posting this review on both to avoid confusion.
